I am developing an application which has various modules; some pure fortran, some c++ linking to fortran, using g77 and g++. Does anyone know how to prevent 'fort.6' files being produced and put the output to 'stdout' instead? They are written by write(6,*) or write(*,*) statements. They end up in 'bin' which causes big problems.
I have written a PCI LKM device driver that compiles and loads correctly via #insmod libfoo.ko. When # dmesg | less is run I get good results and no errors in the log. The LKM header file is visible in the eclipse workspace.how do I attach (link) this loaded LKM in a eclipse project so that the LKM driver functions are visable?
I have installed fedora 14 ami on one of the amazon instance. And installed subversion successfully using following command: # sudo yum install subversion But when i try to check out code from our subversion repository which exist on deifferent remote machine, the checkout commands just hangs indefinitely. If run "top" command then i can see that cpu usage shoots to 100%.
I found another thread similar to my question here: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...-issue-535818/
But I don't understand what the solution is. I believe this has something to do with the permissions on the directory im trying to check out so I did chmod 777 on subdirectory in /cvs(my cvsroot directory) and I was able to checkout subdirectory afterwards, but I still get the same error.
I'm creating a script that creates files from svn checkout and compress them using tar.gz the script gets the repository name from command line argument i need to capture a number from the last line of the output and create a file name from it.
The svn returns output of all the file names from the repository and in the end it says: revision number xxxxx. i need to get this number and then rename the tar.gz to it. how do i save the output to a variable and get this number.
I am an undergraduate anthropology student doing research for my dissertation on the F/OSS community.I'm interested in are forking (What sort of thing causes/averts a fork? Have you ever participated in one?), the process of decision making (Is consensus democracy effective? Where do communication structures often break down?) and any other reflections or thoughts that you think are relevant.

I want ubuntu to run this application on startup, is there a Java command I can use? Or am I just better off creating a shell script?

I have a general question and decided to post it here. Hopefully, I have picked a correct category. The thing I have been trying to figure out is the syn-cache mechanism. I know that it used to be utilized as a method to mitigate the impact of (D)DoS attacks. I would like to know what happened with it? Is it still added to the Linux systems? Perhaps I am missing something, and cannot find the correct man page about it. Is it the thing, that it is only for NetBSD project?
I wanted to design a project in linux which could contain programming languages(C, perl, PHP, HTML, XML etc) basically a web based project. Why I have chosen to build on Linux is because it is Open Source, and lot many things can be automated through scripting languages, which in windows I don't know. So, I have installed linux on a virtual machine(Host-Windows 2007 & Guest Linux CentOS), CentOS(command line interface). Since I am a beginner, so I want to know what all tools can be used to facilitate and ease my development process. Some which I know are listed below:
1) Using Putty so that can access the Linux machine from anywhere within the network. 2) Since I want to develop on Linux, but want to use windows as developing platform. So have downloaded Eclipse Editor (C/PHP) on windows. But want to know how can I access linux files from here? 3) Installed Samba, and still trying to figure out how can I access linux files remotely on Windows. 4) How can I ease my development process and what all tools I can use..??

Our A+ project was to set up a dual-boot using XP Pro & the Linux download of our choice. What we did:
1- We formatted a 38GB HD using the NTFS file system. 2- Two equal sized NTFS partitions were created. - Partition 1 was a Primary. - Partition 2 was an Extended. 3- Used Ubuntu CD. 4- Install Ubuntu choices were to format the HD, install side-by-side, use the the longest continuous space, etc. We chose side-by-side. 5- After the install there was no evidence of the 2d 18GB partition (which we planned to use for XP Pro).
When we booted to the XP install disc that program booted to another HD (C.
I am semi new to the embedded linux scene. I dont use UNIX much but I have played around with it and know how powerful it is. Currently just finished a degree in Computer System Engineering in the UK and have a whole summer break to mess around doing something. So I have decided to start a project I've been planning.
Starting the project, first of all I need to find a good handheld system I can work on. This is where I'll be importing the code onto/applications. At the moment all I want it to do is boot and run a distro of linux, but in the future I am going to be working on making it 3/4G and wirelessly able.
What I need: -Size is roughly around the same size as a ipod maybe, or smaller. -Needs a nice screen, nothing massive but needs to be easily readable. -Text entry is needed, but im sure a few buttons can do it.. keypad would be really really nice though. -A 3.5mm audio jack (or something similar to plug headphones into) is needed or it needs to have the capiblity to install this. -Wifi/3G support, needs to be able to support these in the future or able for me to hack them in. -Rechargeable powersource. -Cost, nothing mega expensive !
