General :: Run Java Project From Ubuntu Terminal?

Apr 28, 2011

I have a small java project that handle connections. In order to run it from the terminal I have to cd into the folder that contains the source and run the following command:
java -cp classes com.packagename.mainclass
Where classes is the folder that contains the classes. I want ubuntu to run this application on startup, is there a Java command I can use? Or am I just better off creating a shell script?

Fedora :: Attempted To Create A New Java Project In Eclipse?

Jan 11, 2010

I recently installed Fedora 12 and attempted to create a new java project in Eclipse.I used the 'eclipse' command in the terminal to start eclipse. It starts fine, however, there is no 'java project' option after choosing 'File->New Project'. Only CVS and General projects. I am not experienced enough in programming to understand the relevance/usage of either of these project modes, and only want to be able to write java programs in Eclipse.

Also, does the eclipse that is run from the terminal support c++ development? I have attempted to download eclipse for C++/C developers, but cannot get it to run. Which eclipse is running when I type 'eclipse' in the terminal? Is there a way to make it so I don't have to run this command from the terminal to load eclipse?

General :: Printing To A Progress Bar To The Terminal From Java/C++ - Stack Overflow?

Sep 18, 2011

I want to update the percentage progress of my program on the screen. I have a progress bar that I print. I add a * when the progress is more than 10%, but I also want to write the actual percentage correct up to every digit. However, I do not want to write a new number every time, since it will have the following effect:

1
2
3
4

Instead, I would like to just maintain one single figure on the screen that keeps getting updated. How do I do that? (... in Java/C++, but I think it's irrelevant)

Ubuntu :: Install LATEST Sun JRE Java From Terminal?

Feb 20, 2011

First you'll want to remove the old JRE or openJDK (if you have it). When JRE is installed from the repositories, do it like this: System - Administration - Synaptic Package Manager

Query: sun java Tick all installed packages and choose complete removal. When it's installed manually in /opt/java, see the instruction at the bottom of this column (under the header Removal). If you don't have JRE, then you'll probably have openJDK. That one should be completely removed as well. That can also be done with Synaptic Package Manager (query: openjdk).

Perhaps I am missing something, and cannot find the correct man page about it. Is it the thing, that it is only for NetBSD project?

General :: Win7 - Tools Required For Web Development Project

Jan 16, 2011

I wanted to design a project in linux which could contain programming languages(C, perl, PHP, HTML, XML etc) basically a web based project. Why I have chosen to build on Linux is because it is Open Source, and lot many things can be automated through scripting languages, which in windows I don't know. So, I have installed linux on a virtual machine(Host-Windows 2007 & Guest Linux CentOS), CentOS(command line interface). Since I am a beginner, so I want to know what all tools can be used to facilitate and ease my development process. Some which I know are listed below:

1) Using Putty so that can access the Linux machine from anywhere within the network.
2) Since I want to develop on Linux, but want to use windows as developing platform. So have downloaded Eclipse Editor (C/PHP) on windows. But want to know how can I access linux files from here?
3) Installed Samba, and still trying to figure out how can I access linux files remotely on Windows.
4) How can I ease my development process and what all tools I can use..??
