View 2 RepliesNow i am writting one bash script. in that my requirement is i need to create one directory and that the directory details to be stored in one file Ex. date/time and all in one file. after that i need to delete the folder automatically exactly after 3months. between these time period in 2month itself i need to send one mail to admin "regarding this still one month only more to delete the folder" . is it possible to do like that date calculation in script.

Ive been trying with variations of top but no luck. I am running several CentOS virtual servers, VM is 2gb ram 2 processor.
Maybe a script that works over a specified amount of time while writing lines with the info on a text file so at the end i can have a sort of table with the data.
The thing is Im going to stress test the server and I would like to have the data to make some statistics.
my system:
Debian v.5.0.5,
architecture: i686,
Firefox 3.6.3 (but had the same problem with older versions of Firefox),
Flash: Shockwave Flash 10.0 r32
After a fresh X start, Flash works without any problems for a day or so but then at some point the audio starts to freeze in a loop (sounds like an old record with a scratch) and the video also freezes up. This happens while listening to last.fm, but the same problem affects other flash videos on other sites but apparently only if they have an audio track, so I think it is mostly an audio buffer problem.Restarting Firefox doesn't seem to help but when I log out and start a new session (rebooting is not necessary) it is fine again.Does anybody else have that problem? I couldn't find anything so far and I don't have rootaccess to this machine, so I'm a bit restricted.Does anybody know which files flash writes to for buffering stuff? Maybe I can just delete a file that has been somehow corrupted instead of restarting? It's quite annoying if you have lots of applications running
I was trying to get the status of memory usage and disk usage using sigar in windows and ubuntu. done this in windows by just copying the sigar library into jdk library. But i was unable to do so in ubuntu. I've copied the library to java-6-sun library but still can't run the program.

Im ok with basic sort and grep operations, but this one is challenging my feeble scripting skills (normally I�d throw it into a spreadsheet, but in this case Id like to ultimately create a script that I could automate). Ive already used cat/sort to order the csv file first on location and then timestamp so it looks like this:

how to do this and Im kind of stuck on how to approach it I think the combined steps of looping through the locations along with the min/max/sum calculations are throwing me. Eventually Id also like to do additional calculations like average, ect. but I think I can figure that out on my own if I can just get this part down.

A few hours ago, I ran "pacman -Syu" to update, and soon after it was finished the power went out for a few seconds, turning off my computer without properly shutting down. When I started it, the time was wrong (or maybe the time zone, since the minute is correct). It looks like it's exactly 4 hours behind (right now it's 18:53 here, but the date command says 14:53). Also, I have ntpd running, in case that matters.

(I always turn the laptop upside down when not using it otherwise might overheat)When I woke up this morning roughly 8 hours after I went to sleep the machine was turned off.Using the "last -x | grep shutdown | head -1" it stated that it went down at roughly 6 hours from when I went to sleep.The program I was installing got finished installing but I never set up an auto-shutdown program or anything of the sort.If this isn't a problem with linux then its a problem with my bios. like I lost my sudo rights after some time ..
i have a problem. when i changed from xp to linux mint 8, my speakers seem to just give up on me after about 2 hours of use. the only way i can fix them is to restart the computer.

I am trying to write a simple back up script in python where I try to list the files that are 24 hours old in specific directories that I would choose.I read the manual of find and used
find . -mtime 1 > log.dat
to get the list of files in the log.dat however I also get the path information in that list as such
./hpc06MatlabCodes/2011/Apr/3dBoxModel
./hpc06MatlabCodes/2011/Apr/3dBoxModel/vfluidIrca10.dat
./hpc06MatlabCodes/2011/Apr/3dBoxModel/vLRecoveredSystem.mat
is there a way to exclude the directories and only get the files list.
