I cant understand how to sort out from this problem, while check the cobbler boot server, from the command cobbler check follwing error comes out , i dont understand how to fix it
1 : The default password used by the sample templates for newly installed machines (default_password_crypted in /etc/cobbler/settings) is still set to 'cobbler' and should be changed, try: "openssl passwd -1 -salt 'random-phrase-here' 'your-password-here'" to generate new one Restart cobblerd and then run 'cobbler sync' to apply changes.
Is there a default password for root on pclinuxos? I didn't have an option to set the pw on reboot and it is no longer 'root'. I can't open the synaptic package manager or install wine without it, it seems.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have Tango Studio installed on a usb stick which i wish to install alongside my current Maverick install. I booted up into it but when i click on the "install tango studio" icon i get asked for a password. I have searched google and i have not been able to find anything about this. It doesn't appear anywhere on their website and before someone says to ask on their forums i can't as their forums are not in english. I used start up disk creator to make the usb install but couldn't boot into it at first. I did some searching and found out that creating a usb install in maverick isn't backwards compatible. There was a simple solution which got me into the live mode, pressing tab, typing in live and then enter. I wonder if this is the reason why i am being asked for the password when i get into the live desktop? I have never had to put in a password before. I have tried a few generic passwords but no joy so i don't know what to do. Is there a default password that Ubuntu uses that would work for me so i could finally get it installed?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI just installed postgresql 8.4 package on my Ubuntu 10.10 desktop. Seems to have worked fine. But what is the password for logging into the databases created by user 'postgres'?
sudo su postgres
and then

fine and it never asks me for a password. But if I want to use pgadmin3, I want to enter passwd for postgres, etc.
How do I change my default keyring password in F11?
The instructions from here no longer work:
Code:

Longer story:
Somehow I got my keyring and login passwords out of sync. I went to change my login password using passwd on the terminal. I meant to change it to (let's say) "abcdef" but typed "abcdfe" twice. Realizing my mistake I tried to used passwd a second time to change it to "abcdef", but passwd complained that the new password was too similar to the old. So I used "su -c 'passwd myusername'" - I was able to change my login password but I guess this did not update my keyring password. I've tried changing my password using passwd as myself (not root) to something completelydifferent, but my keyring password remains the first password (e.g. "abcdfe").
I downloaded nagserver.i686-0.0.1.vmx.tar.gz - unzipped ok - my vmware player loads it up nicely. Unfortunately I don't know the login and password - also don't know the root as well. I tried searching the internet and this forum for the default logins and passwords but couldn't find it. It's a VM running on opensuse 11.2 and I'm stuck at the login prompt.

Worked with UNIX years ago, want to get back in.Just installed the 10.04 netbook remix on spare Asus eeePC 900 to muck about with and see what's what.Installation doesn't let me specify a root password, and none of the old chestnuts I remember from UNIX days work.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI just re-sized my windows partition on my laptop and installed 10.04.1. Brand new clean install. I set up my user account, gave it a password, and everything was fine until I tried to connect to my wireless. I typed in the security key for my wireless, and it asked for a password to unlock the default keyring. The problem is, I never set a password for the "default" keyring. I never changed my user password. I didn't auto-login, I entered my password. This was the first boot up of the machine after installing 10.04.1. I can't use Empathy, because the keyring cannot be unlocked. If I "cancel" it gives me an error saying the account details are wrong, but I log into my facebook, aim, and msn every day, so I know the passwords are correct.
I have read about other issues with the keyring and with the auto-login bug that is associated with it. I have also read up on the bug that occurs with that as well. I couldn't find anything about my specific situation, so I hope this isn't a re-post of an issue that has already dealt with, but I did look it up. If it helps, the laptop I am running is a HP Pavilion dv7-3065dx, and I have Ubuntu Desktop 10.04.1 x86 installed. Clean install and the only thing I have done was log in, connect to network, and try to set up Empathy. Both Empathy, and connecting to network, gave me the issues with the keyring. It appears that there is already a password for the default keyring, it is not blank, and my user login password does not work for it. I'm at a loss...
The download page says the CD should boot into the desktop. Instead I am getting a login screen. What is the default username and password? (I assume that after I log in I will have an option to actually install it on my hard disc ...)

I started looking at the configuration files; well attempted. It asks for a login. It isn't any user or root, but apparently is admin, but IO don't ever remember setting it.
Various web search suggests it is done at compile(downloaded compiled) /installation, but I have no recollection of entering any.
There is a Redhat/Centos wrinkle ntop -set-admin-passwd=password; but that puts out a lot of lines, then hangs and has no effect.
Note, despite message(old version of ntop), it is up todate in packages.
I have installed Fedora11 onto my Dell laptop; as nice as it is whenever I log in I am prompted to "enter password for default keyring to unlock". Now, I don't recall ever setting one up, each password I try (e.g. the user or root) fails and gives me the prompt again. After a few clicks of "deny" it does go away but I want to know what it is and if I can stop it from prompting me).
