View 3 Replies View RelatedI have currently installed Linux Mint 10 Gnome 32-bit edition and I have a iPod Touch 2nd gen with 32GB.I was able to see the music(mp3 files) in my iPod touch in linux mint 8 and 9. But currently I have the following issues:When I connect my iPod Touch with the system I got two popup asking me You have just inserted digital audio player.ose what applications to launch"ou have just inserted a medium with digital photos. Choose what applications to launch"I know that these are popups are normal. I currently dnot have any photos or videos in my iPod Touch(will try to add them in the future) so I used Rhythmbox to open the music present in my iPod touch. I'm able to find my iPod under "Devices" in Rhythmbox. But when I click it, Rhythmbox shows that there are no music present in my iPod Touch by showing "0 artist" and "0 Albums".
However I know for sure that there are definitely songs in my iPod since I'm able to browse and play songs directly from my iPod. Is there any way to resolve this? I have also tried opening it in banshee but with the same result.I tried to drag and drop songs present in my library of rhythmbox to my iPod and this does not do any thing. Previously in LM 8 or 9, when I do drag and drop I will be able to see my new songs in my iPod.
I have tried all the methods that are out there but nothing works. Under Fedora 12, it is seen by VBox

Running ITunes under Vbox sees the IPOD but I can't do anything, it will not copy music over, matter of fact I can't build any libraries in ITunes. I've installed "iFuse" on both my Fedora and Ubuntu systems, no go with that direction. Under Ubuntu it is seen but I can't do anything with it.
When I first started with Fedora I tried a dual boot situation to see if Fedora 13 was going to meet my needs. After being totally satisfied I deleted Windows from my computer. How can I get Fedora to also occupy all the disk space Windows once occupied? I have a 15 GB USB drive to work with if needed.

How the program reads its configuration file and how it understands its syntax (file format)? Also, a further question is how the program knows where its configuration file is being located?
For example inittab has its own "Identifier:RunLevel:Action:Command" format. How this is recognised by the "init" process?
A friend loaded linux onto my eMachine netbook. Unfortunately the touch pad and WiFi refuse to work. He loaded it into a 40gb partition leaving 120gb unusable so it would probably make sense to start all over again. I only need basic txt software, pics and internet to work so I am not looking for state of the art. Just something that will work, is not too difficult to set up and preferably can be loaded from a pen drive (memory stick). Any suggestions? The "distro" as I understand it is Kubuntu. Not sure what version but I will have a look later.

The 2nd login is 'root' so i can access the content of the box (i dont understand it but that hasnt stopped me from using it as normal).Now i like a GUI so i can browse files easier and drag and drop multiple files instead of using the command line. WinSCP doesnt work as it locks up. I suspect its because there is a prompt to log in again.

View 13 Replies View RelatedI made a live DSL cd from the iso file, I dont know how to verify the checksum thingy, so I am flying in the dark there.the disk was working and loaded up fine (graphics looked good, some type in color, the litte penguin icon was cool ect.) the problem comes when the gui loaded and the desktop came up then the screen was nearly white and the type was nearly illegible. I could make out the welcome screen with a faq page and what not , but i could not read it.
I rebooted again this time i went to the boot menu and selected the vga option that indicated it was the best for display problems.,
then the screen loaded as garbled red and orange stripes. i have no documentation, so i need the software to autodetect the display resolutions, ect. also the touch pad makes the pointer dissapear the first time you touch it. the unit is a compaq presario

I installed gtkpod via apt-get. When I plug my 4Gb iPod shuffle via USB, gtkpod does not open automatically. When I open it manually, the following error message comes up:I just would like to add/remove mp3's on my iPod and sync it via gtkpod.

I can see my samba server on my winxp client.. but everytime i tried to access the samba share a windows message appears that says:\192.168.0. 3 Installer is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. etc. the network path is not found.I already open the port 139 & 445 for samba to pass trough the firewall.. but the problem is still the same.
View 65 Replies View RelatedI just downloaded a brand-new Debian DVD install and installed.My problem is that when I start X my monitor goes black and tells me "Out of range".So Xserver havent setup my monitor correctlyI have an Radeon 4870 graphic card installed and an LG w1943SB-pf flatscreen.I've tried dpkg-reconfigure Xserver-org but it only seems to ask me questions about my keyboards!Ive also tried manually editing the Xorg.conf and changing the HorizSync and VertRefresh rates to no avail.Does anyone now an EASY way just to get this LCD Flatscreen working on a Debian 5.86 with Linux 2.6 kernel? Some cool app that does it for me would be preferable, since I havent had any luck changing the xorg.conf manually.
Also, I have installed the free open source ATI Radeon drivers, but I'm not sure im actually using it.My xorg.conf is pretty bland and doesnt list any particular drivers.
