Ubuntu :: IPod Touches Just Not Work At All?

Apr 24, 2011

I've been able to get Rhythmbox to at least acknowledge my iPod Touch, but when i try and add music to it, my iPod still says "No Content." It looks like it syncs, when Rhythmbox is transfer the music to my iPod it even says that it's syncing on the iPod, but when I check to see if there's any music, there never is.I've searched and haven't been able to find any solutions, but I've seen a lot of old threads with people that have this problem. Has any been able to transfer music onto an iPod Touch successfully at all?

Ubuntu :: Key Touch Not Answering To Touches

Sep 30, 2010

I just connected an old Microsoft Wireless Desktop Elite Keyboard (keyboard + mouse set) to my Ubuntu and I was wondering if it is possible to configure all the additional keys and in particular the wheel on the keyboard.I found that keytouch was the software to do this, but on Ubuntu 10.04 seems to have some troubles: even after the configuration, all the additional keys are just... dead. The events connected with any of the keys never start.Does someone know how to configure this software?

General :: How Multitouch Monitor Send Touches To A PC

Jul 22, 2011

I'm fairly new to touch screens. I'm having a look on Amazon at multi touch monitors like an HP 2310ti and it seems everybody just accepts that Windows 7 can handle it out of the box.

How does it work? I can't find any resources explaining how the PC receives the input from the touch screen.

Do I need to connect the PC with the monitor via USB, or is there wireless/bluetooth technology embedded in the monitor like in a wireless keyboard/mouse? How does Linux handle such a monitor out of the box? Does it recognize something like 2 connected mouse devices? I read about a few projects trying to implement this stuff in Xorg/GTK, but it seems to be pretty experimental at current state (because there is little information, if any, on this topic).

Ubuntu :: Does New 64Gb IPod Touch Work With On 10.04

Apr 14, 2010

I just acquired a shiny new 64Gb iPod Touch and for the life of me I can't get it working in either Amarok or Banshee at all and it doesn't automatically mount as it is supposed to on 10.04 Beta 1 or 2

lsusb shows it's there and after following this thread I could get it mounted and see the directory structure.

[URL]

But it doesn't show up in Banshee or Amarok at all.

Is it just because it's new and might have a quirk? Or could it be something simple I have missed? I'm not a total noob but still learning

Ubuntu Multimedia :: Ipod Touch Doesn't Work Outside Of Gnome?

Oct 15, 2010

I recently upgraded to kubuntu 10.10 and now I can't play songs and sync my ipod outside of gnome. Before the upgrade I was able to access the ipod using rhythm box, it wouldn't be detected at first but if I would click music and then import folder and then click ipod touch under places rhythm box would recognise it and it would be mounted at /home/linux/.gvfs/iPod touch. But now unlike before on kubuntu 10.04, when I plug in my ipod it is actually recognised by the device notifier, but it only recognises it as a camera it has no access to the rest of the file system where the music is located, and their is no eject button in the device notifier to unmount. And because of this I can't mount gvfs unless I unplug the ipod, logout, and log back in into gnome. I tried mounting with ifuse before on 10.04 but it didn't work right, now when i try it in kde I get a whole new error message.

linux@linux:~$ ifuse /mnt/ipod/

No device found, is it connected? If it is make sure that your user has permissions to access the raw usb device. If you're still having issues try unplugging the device and reconnecting it.

I tried

umount camera:/Apple iPod Touch (PTP mode)@usb:001,005/

But that just gave me

bash: syntax error near unexpected token `('

I didn't think that command would work but I tried it because I have no idea where the hell the ipod is mounted or if it's even mounted at all. Is their any way to keep kde from detecting my ipod touch? Or anything I can do in the terminal so I can use my ipod with gtkpod or rhythmbox while in kde.

Running ITunes under Vbox sees the IPOD but I can't do anything, it will not copy music over, matter of fact I can't build any libraries in ITunes. I've installed "iFuse" on both my Fedora and Ubuntu systems, no go with that direction. Under Ubuntu it is seen but I can't do anything with it.

General :: IPod Touch 2G Does Not Work On Mint 10?

Apr 21, 2011

I have currently installed Linux Mint 10 Gnome 32-bit edition and I have a iPod Touch 2nd gen with 32GB.I was able to see the music(mp3 files) in my iPod touch in linux mint 8 and 9. But currently I have the following issues:When I connect my iPod Touch with the system I got two popup asking me You have just inserted digital audio player.ose what applications to launch"ou have just inserted a medium with digital photos. Choose what applications to launch"I know that these are popups are normal. I currently dnot have any photos or videos in my iPod Touch(will try to add them in the future) so I used Rhythmbox to open the music present in my iPod touch. I'm able to find my iPod under "Devices" in Rhythmbox. But when I click it, Rhythmbox shows that there are no music present in my iPod Touch by showing "0 artist" and "0 Albums".

However I know for sure that there are definitely songs in my iPod since I'm able to browse and play songs directly from my iPod. Is there any way to resolve this? I have also tried opening it in banshee but with the same result.I tried to drag and drop songs present in my library of rhythmbox to my iPod and this does not do any thing. Previously in LM 8 or 9, when I do drag and drop I will be able to see my new songs in my iPod.

Rhythm Box does not recognise the Ipod with the plug-in, I have tried Amarok, but each time I tried to open it, it just crashed, tried sending a bug report but that did not want to work. I have also tried Exaile with the Ipod plug-in but when you go to the device manager you can click on the Ipod but nothing happens. I have tried looking at the Exaile forums but this seems to be a problem for others as well. The Ipod mounts ok, now a bit stuck.

Ubuntu :: Use IPod With 10.04?

Apr 29, 2011

I used Ubuntu way back in the 6.X days, then quit for a while, and now I'm back, and boy have things changed! Anyway, I'm trying to get my parents to use Ubuntu, since Windoze runs super-slow (and my mom is a "download everything on the Internet and I won't get viruses, right?" type), and one of my concerns is getting my mom's iPod to work properly under Ubuntu.

Now, I know that there is no iTunes for *Nix (tragic but unfortunately true), so I'm trying to use a Ubuntu-native program to do this (of course, if anyone knows how to make iTunes work, that would probably be optimal, but until that...). I've tried using Amarok and gtkpod, and run into a couple of problems. If anyone can help me out, that would be fantastic.

1) I read various guides for using Amarok (including this one, this one, and this one), and I get to the point at which you go Settings -> Configure Amarok. I am told there should be a "Media Devices" item on the list on the left, and it is simply not there. What's the deal?

2) I tried using gtkpod, and while it seemed to work a bit, I tried using the "Copy files from iPod to music library" feature, and it segfaulted in the middle. I'm not entirely confident using programs that are prone to segfaults, and I was wondering if anyone can shed some light.

My mom's iPod is a 3rd gen iPod Nano 8GB Silver (with video). My OS is Ubuntu 10.04 LTS. My Amarok version is 2.3.0. My gtkpod version is 0.99.14.

Ubuntu :: IPod Directory Gone?

Jun 13, 2010

I got a 120 GB iPod which is access with gtkpod.Everything worked fine since I got it 2 years ago.Yesterday, however, I was unable to play files. The iPod would simply skip them as if they were 0-sec tracks. When trying to access the iPod with gtkpod, I got an error message about the Music folder not being found. So I thought: Let's rework the whole thing. I opened the iPod folder in nautilus, deleted everything and ejected and restarted the iPod. Then I transferred one album to the iPod. Everything seemed OK. But the same thing happened again: all the tracks seem to be empty. Now, when opening gtkpod it states it's missing the photo directory. What should I do? I already used iTunes on a WIN machine to recreate the system. But the problem continues.
