Can I also install jre1.60 and use jdk as well? I am taking a class in Java programming so I don't want to screw up my programming environment. However, I need to use OO powerpoint for class as well.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to setup oracle10g but, whenever I try to go to my database homepage http://127.0.0.1:8080/apex I get an "unable to connect to" error. Only reason I can think of as to why I can't connect to it is because my ports aren't open. I also recall SELinux complaining about something awhile ago, I can't seem to bring that up any more for some reason.
View 1 Replies View RelatedThis is odd - I just installed Fedora 13 onto a clean disk, but I restored some folders from backup to my home directory.
Afterwards I noticed that double clicking on a date on the calendar does not open evolution's calendar. I uninstalled evolution* , removed .evolution folder, and re-installed the 3 pieces.
Still nothing.. I double click a date, it does not pop up.
I see that it's running tho..
# ps ax|grep evo
2240 ? S 0:00 evolution-alarm-notify
21839 ? Sl 0:00 evolution calendar:///?startdate=20100613T210000Z
how to debug and or fix this? PS - nothing in /var/log/messages
Hmm when I click on a date, I see this in .xsession-errors:
(nautilus:18928): Nautilus-GDU-WARNING **: unable to query info: The specified location is not supported

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have all of my music stored on my computer in mp3 form (except for a few songs, which are some weird file type, I'm not sure why, anyway). I just recently switched from Ubuntu 10.10 Linux to Fedora 14 Linux. I was able to open, play, and burn CDs with all of my music on Ubuntu, however on Fedora, it is saying that I am missing a plug-in for mp3s, however when I click the button to search for it, it can't find anything.I really need to burn a CD, so I really need a fix for this quick!

I wanted to format my USB flash drive to erase all of the data from it so I downloaded "gparted" and created 1 partition with the following specs code...
I selected NTFS because I'm guessing that's the only one I'll be able to use with a windows machine - I've got the ntfs-3g program installed.
The problem is that I when I select my USB in the file manager, it doesn't open.
I start up the computer, I get the Grub menu, I see the user menu, I select the user and enter password, and then it just keeps loading forever and nothing else happens...
No gnome3 or any proper interface for that matter, just the wallpaper.
What's bothering me is that it happened for no apparent reason at all, one day it's good, the next it went bonkers.
I use Fedora 15 and gnome 3, my computer is HP Pavilion dv6736nr, I have a dual boot with Win7.
i tried to connect a bsnl 3g datacard, in that datacard i found bsnl-1.0.deb file how do i install it in fedora15

View 5 Replies View RelatedWhen I open an open office document from an NFS share it always opens as readonly. This was a problem I had on Arch linux and the fix was to change the locking options in the soffice script but I've tried that fix here and it doesn't work. I've seen a lot of discussions but they all go back to changing the locking options in soffice, has anyone got any alternative fixes or one that definitely works with locking?
View 4 Replies View RelatedServer - Ubuntu 10.04.1 lts

When I try to open any nfs-mounted file using OpenOffice, I get a pop-up window titled "Document in Use". The text of the message is:
"Document file 'abcde.odt' is locked for editing by:
Unknown User
Open document read-only or open a copy of the document for editing." I then have three options - <Open Read-Only>, <Open Copy>, & <Cancel> If I cp any of these files from the mounted directory to my home dir (not mounted), I can open them without problem. Also, my firefox & thunderbird date are in this mounted directory as well (sym links to ~dan/.mozilla & ~dan/.thunderbird). Both of these apps hang when trying to open, leaving two processes behind that need to be manually killed. Again, cp'ing the data out of the nfs-mounted dir onto a local dir resolves the issue, so I am 100% confident there is nothing missing or corrupted in the firefox &/or thunderbird data...

I don't know if I'm doing something wrong but I've been running Ubuntu or a variant for about a year now and suddenly every now and then one or two of my documents (open office or pdfs) have no information and they won't open.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a while(1) loop, and the error is: glibtop: open (/proc/stat): Too many open files This error occurs after about a half hour to an hour of running. I've tried running this multiple times, both with using glib_close() at the end of the loop, using glib_init() and glib_close() at beginning/end, and just using glib_init(). The strange thing is these have no effect on the actual glib_get functions.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have sendmail running on my centOS 4.6. My lamp server also runs on it. I want to send mail through php mail function. when i execute php page, which fires the mail function, it takes so much long tim1 say even 1 minute, and at last displays that message sent successfully. Suppose, destination address is [URL].... I did not get any mail there. My server is running in LAN. I checked the status of sendmail, it shows me that it ios running. when i issue "nmap localhost" it shows me that SMTP port 25 is open, but when i issue "nmap myserver" (192.168.1.20 myserver ( written in hostfile)), it does not show that SMTP port is open.
I checked the /var/log/maillog, one person in my previous post advice me to see that. There it shows that message is accepted for delivery...but i do not get any mail in my destination, even not in spam folder. One more confusion is that, in my case my server is in LAN and if I am at all enable to open the SMTP port on it, does i need to open SMTP port on my router (which connects my LAN to internet) also needs to open? I think no, because SMTP is application layer protocol, it will wrap my mail in IP packet, which router just need to forward. am i right?
I have configured a squid proxy; it's running, but there was a problem: it does not provide service to client side.
The error was: "could not connect to session manager" "cannot open the network socket"
I'm having sporadic issues with the openoffice.org program. Sometimes, power point presentations will crash the program and then I can't open any open office programs without rebooting the computer. The problem seems to be just with powerpoint files and I'm not sure what the issue could be.
