I am using ubuntu 10.10 and I have a ipod shuffle.I was using itunes to sync my ipod and load the songs on it.I wish to use a similar solution on linux platform. I know I could use wine and run itunes on it.Any other software or solution ?
View 2 RepliesI am trying to connect my 2nd Gen Ipod to Xubuntu and import my music collection onto the Ipod. I am having real problems with this. Rhythm Box does not recognise the Ipod with the plug-in, I have tried Amarok, but each time I tried to open it, it just crashed, tried sending a bug report but that did not want to work. I have also tried Exaile with the Ipod plug-in but when you go to the device manager you can click on the Ipod but nothing happens. I have tried looking at the Exaile forums but this seems to be a problem for others as well. The Ipod mounts ok, now a bit stuck.

At this point my ipod shows on my desktop when i connect it via usb. I cannot set up the repository for it in gtkpod because i dont know the location its mounting to. if its mounting at all. so my question is. how can i tell where my ipod is being mounted? I dont have a clue what to look for in the terminal results for "df -a"

I've been trying to get my iPod touch (8GB, jailbroken) to connect with gtkpod iPod manager. But whenever I try to load the iPod I get this message.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm running Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic Rhythmbox recognizes my ipod just fine.. and i have no problem transferring mp3s over to the ipod. but when I unplug the nano from the computer it says I have 0 files under music.. yet 4.5GB are missing out of the 8GB. what in the world?? When I double click the IPOD on my desktop it shows all the mp3s too, but when I unplug it's like it's an empty ipod like nothing transferred, but yet it says synchronizing....

View 3 Replies View RelatedBought an Ipod Touch 4th Gen today, and I can't get Ubuntu 10.04 to talk to it in a meaningful way. So far I've tried dling Mediamonkey and running it on Wine - no good. I successfully installed the latest itunes and can run it with Wine, but the ipod doesn't show up on the devices menu on the left. I can see an Ipod touch icon on my desktop and in nautilus, and I can drag files into the ipod via nautilus, but they don't show up on the ipod's music menu. There's an option to open the ipod w/ Rhythmbox, but when I do, it isn't there (in rhythmbox). I'd rather not resort to jailbreaking. I guess I wouldn't mind using virtualbox, but I don't have a copy of XP handy. Mediachest looks like garbage to me, and I don't know how to work it.

I know how to sync podcasts to my iPod shuffle with gPodder and GTKpod. But how would I sync up files with her iPod? Also, what program would I use to automatically sync the iPod with any music dropped into her Music folder? This should be as painless as using iTunes or she won't do it.

Running ITunes under Vbox sees the IPOD but I can't do anything, it will not copy music over, matter of fact I can't build any libraries in ITunes. I've installed "iFuse" on both my Fedora and Ubuntu systems, no go with that direction. Under Ubuntu it is seen but I can't do anything with it.

Choose what applications to launch"I know that these are popups are normal. I currently dnot have any photos or videos in my iPod Touch(will try to add them in the future) so I used Rhythmbox to open the music present in my iPod touch. I'm able to find my iPod under "Devices" in Rhythmbox. But when I click it, Rhythmbox shows that there are no music present in my iPod Touch by showing "0 artist" and "0 Albums".
However I know for sure that there are definitely songs in my iPod since I'm able to browse and play songs directly from my iPod. Is there any way to resolve this? I have also tried opening it in banshee but with the same result.I tried to drag and drop songs present in my library of rhythmbox to my iPod and this does not do any thing. Previously in LM 8 or 9, when I do drag and drop I will be able to see my new songs in my iPod.

Everytime I would want to sync a song, it would give me access denied. it is currently mounted at /tmp/ipodbxQtrU and i have tried using chmod with no luck. I was in root when i used "chmod -R user ipodbxQtrU" and it said operation not permitted.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI wanted to "reset" the collection on my iPod and ended up accidentally deleting, through Amarok, all the playlists, including the default ones like "Most Played" and "Highest Rated". Since these are dynamic playlists with a special meaning for iPod, I don't think creating new, normal playlists with the same name will bring their special behavior back.
How do I restore them with the same dynamic functionality? Is there a way to do that on Amarok? Rhythmbox? GTKPod? Command line?
P.S.: not entirely sure what the policy about iPod questions are, but this one in particular seems to me to be very computer-related because, although it's about interfacing with a device, everything has to be done on my computer, using standard PC libraries/programs, etc.

I use Linux at work, and want to just plug my ipod and just listen to the tracks, with all the playlists and such. I don't want to sync nothing, I just want to listen to the tracks as if I was using the ipod itself.
Why? Because this way I can use the usb port.
So, I don't want to manage my ipod in Linux, I just want to listen to the tracks on it in Linux, like it was a local library but it's instead in my ipod.
(I've tried gtkpod, it works to show my files, but I can't play, shuffle, etc. It would be interesting to have a complete audio software to handle everything like it was a local library)
