Jun 11, 2011Moving right along, I have a folder of MP3 files containing various Movie sound tracks and scores. I'm using Audio Tag Tool to tag all the files at once with an "Artist" of "Soundtrack", and to inherit the "Title" tag from the file name. After that, I will rename all the files (Using Audio Tag Tool -- awesome program, btw) with the format "<Artist> - <Title>.mp3"
The problem, is many of my files already contain the string "Soundtrack", which would be redundant. I happen to be a perfectionist, so I'm unable to ignore it and move on. Hence my question to you fine folk: I want to delete all instances of "soundtrack" (-i case irrelevant) in the filenames before I go through the above steps. But, its not quite that simple. This is a sample of some of the file names:

May 8, 2010I am trying to remove all the files in a directory hierarchy which a certain string inside the file (not the file name, it is the file content).
I can list out all the file name which has a string in the file using 'grep -r -l mystringlooking for'.
But how can I remove all the files returned by the grep ? I am trying this on ubuntu.

for example: I want to find all files starting with a string lsnr* under root directory / and any sub-directories.....
ie I want to look for files like lsnr*.* anywhere under / and any sub-directories under / such as /dir1/dir2/dir4 and dir1/other/dir/someotherdir/sub-dir etc.
so if I have /dir1/lsnrcontrol and also have /dir1/dir/2/dir3/lsnr-tinit.dat then I want to list the files names etc.

I want to change all the files that containts TEXT15 and change it to TEXT16. This actually works for files in a folder but not recursively in all the entire files....perl -pi -c 's/TEXT15/TEXT16/g' ./* but I have many subfolders and within this more subsub folders....i just want to do this recursively.

I want to have it so that when it reaches a word with a sentence terminating punctuation mark it stops.
My attempt to do that was with:

But after installing the "GRUB/LILO", it does not chain with the boot loader "REFIT" that I use. Each time I try to boot into "Windows/openSUSE", it shows a message: no boot device found, insert boot disc". So why isn't the "GRUB/LILO" working?

I tried using an awk gsub () command within the string instead of the two seds, but it did not work:
awk '{ print gsub(/<regex>/, <replace with>,$1), $2, $3, $4, substr($5,1,8}
the sed works ok, but it would be cooler to make the replacement within the awk command:
gsub(/->/,-> IN, $1)
Is there a way where i could replace the value of the $1 column in the awk print string?

Software :: .htaccess - Allow Users To Write Access To Files Or Complete Directories
Apr 23, 2011I have a site hosted with a cheap hosting company and limited control of the site. I need to allow some other users all over the world to have write access to files or complete directories and I have no idea how to do that. Initially I thought I could use "chown" somehow but it looks like it's a no-go with ftp and others. By default, there is a .htaccess file and a .htpasswd file in the root directory of the site and the hosting company suggested to use .htaccess file with something like below:

and put it in a .htaccess file in the directory of user1 but the server does not like something since I inserted that file. Is it an error in the script or is there more to it than that? Can someone point me to a suitable tutorial or explain what to do?
