Looking for recommendations on an easy to configure email server to use on Ubuntu. I have been using SME but I have encountered some issues with how emails are handled. I primarily want to use it in a test capacity for a small lan I have created.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI like puppy apart from the file manager, you could probably download a different FM from the package manager, but i am looking for a new distro. I know DSL as well and i think it's good but there must be better. I will mainly be using it for 2 reason
a) Recover(backup) files from a windows system i can't boot into
b) To access the net of a system i can't boot into
1) Be under 200MB
2) Fast to boot
3) Have network support including wireless
4) Have sata support and ideally raid support
5) Good file manager
6) As windows like as possible
7) Easy to copy files from HD to usb stick and easy to set permissions .
is there a way to allow unsubscribed email address to send emails to mailman list without having to manually set a filter for that email address?

The new email server will replace the primary one.I would like to setup the new email server in parallel with the existing one.This way i can observe issues that might occur and be aware of what could go wrong. I want to received mail to be delivered to both mail servers at the same time.I would like to use postfix, exim i find a bit to difficult to understand.I have thought of using transport maps, the only problem is that you can only forward mail to one server at a time using transport maps.I think recipient_bcc_maps and sender_bcc_maps could work, i would just like ideas of how i can do this.

I have seen pricing from $8 to $30 a year. Any favorites from fellow ubunters? Also this whole "whois" thing scares me, if I am correct my information I enter when buying the domain is enter into some big pool of information. People can find this information out and dig up important information. url Can I prevent this with private Whois or how do I set it up? The server uses sendmail. My concern is how do I make sure only the server itself can send mails through that server. Because it would be bad if spammers would use it as a relay server.

I am tired of managing local Address Books and Calendars. I use either POP or IMAP email accounts now and want to keep the email accounts I have. What is a good Mail Server I can setup to Let me use a Global Address Book and Shared Calendar System between Outlook 2003 and Evolution, but not create email accounts? In Other words I want a Local Server I can setup that does nothing but manage a Global Address Book and Calendars. I want to keep using POP and IMAP accounts for the email side of things.

Using CentOS. I have a cron setup to run this command: Code: /var/test.sh | mail -s "Test Cron" mr182@somewhere.com The email is sent but the output of the script is not in the email body, it's just blank. I know there is some output because there are some echo statements in the script.I don't want to get an email for all cronjobs, just this one.

I run a server with 500+ shared hosting clients and reseller clients and it was just blocked because of email spam. I happened to know my incoming and outgoing emails are being monitored by my superior. Just wondered, can i check from the mail header to find out all my emails (incoming/outgoing) are automatically being cc to another email account? We're running mail server using postfix.

fetchmail is configured to download all mail for alias email id on local linux server and distribute to local users.

everything works fine except bcc copy is not getting delivered to email alias (at local linux server). It is delivered to local postmaster account :abc@[URL] (in Linux server) I have tried all envelope option in fetchmailrc file, but it did not work.
I'm trying to write a script that will continuously ping a server and then send out an email when the server is down, and then when it is back up. Then, continuing with monitoring. I would like to not run this in cron, because I don't want to script to run with multiple instances.
For example,
Ping a server every minute.
-If successful, do nothing.
-If failed to ping, then send out email stating that server is down.
-Once ping is successful, then send out email stating that server is up.
I only want it to send an email once after a failure, so the end user isn't get an email every minute that it fails. Once it is successful, then send the email (one time), stating that the server is up. Then, continue to ping and if fails again, repeat the process.
Anyone know a simple command line to check for a specific email - by subject - on an SSL secured IMAP server?
