This question is related to the FTP-server.I have vsftpd installed on CentOS 5.4.I have placed the binary firmware file of the Snom phone into /var/ftp/pubI am using several other directories in /var/ftp but their is always authentication necessary.Is there some setting I need to make to allow an unauthenticated FTP-login to /var/ftp/pub ?!

It's installed as a mobile broadband connection. Only works if my phone is plugged in during boot, otherwise plugging in my phone does nothing. For example, I booted my netbook earlier today but my phone wasn't plugged in. Tethering did not work, it just acts as if it isn't present. I rebooted (with my phone still attached) and now tethering magically works.

I'm trying to setup a vpn server so I can use my computer via phone. My phone only supports pptp, l2tp and l2tp/ipsec psk. I would like to surf the web, browse files etc. I've been using this guide [URL] but get stuck on the part.
Finally, disable and re-enable ufw to apply the changes:
sudo ufw disable && sudo ufw enable
I get the error:
ERROR: problem running ufw-init
So is there any simple way to get a vpn working on this thing? Or at the very least an in-depth guide that covers what would happen if something goes wrong.

Nowadays bluetooth more less works fine, I can send and receive single file to/from my phone (nokia n70)
The hell begin when I try to browse my phone files from konqueror...with bluetooth:/ I can see the list of all the device near me with sdp://[address]/ i can see two icons (obex file transfer & obex object push)
but I cant see or access to any file or folder into the phone.
I also try to update my bluez-utils to 4.60-1~bpo50+1 but in this case kbluetooth totally fail and a see the contextual menu of the system tray icon all disaled.
I'm trying to get my android 2.3 phone to connect to my vpn server and I followed this guide [URL]... but it isn't working. I've tried compiling both xl2tpd and openswan myself but it resulted with the same error I can connect to my vpn from windows 7 but when I try to connect with my phone I get this in the log file (jumped to the interesting part & highlighted the line that's bothering me most)

I just got offshore and was trying to extract csv files with new software and the toughbook went crazy. When i try to boot it up it ends up with the black screen and flashing white x in the middle of the screen.Luckily the company have a back up to do the job but would like to try to resolve it on the rig rather than send it back to Germany

A couple of the reviews talk about BIOS updating/flashing and stuff like that. As a moderate hardware guy (I've built computers, but only know the basics of hardware and how they work together) running Linux, should I worry about this. I've never updated/flashed my current mobo's BIOS
So are all these reviews specific to Windows users? I've never had much driver issues in Linux (other than ATI graphics cards), nor have I had to update BIOS.
When shutting down OpenSuSE 11.2, it sometimes locks up on the "init.d/kdb stop" command and the Caps and Numlock key just flash and I can't do anything but hold the power button to shut off. Why does it do that? I have a Dell 5100 Inspiron laptop, 2.4GHz CPU, 1.5GB ram.

While loading everything went well, but when I loged backon my Monitor Flashes about every 20 seconds, just for about 3 seconds. I am using a GForce 2200 Video card.What I need to know is their anyone who can tell me why this is happeining and how to fix it. I have used Open SuSE 10.3 on another machine and have never had this problem.

I recently installed openSuse 11.2 with KDE4.3...When I try to pair my phone, the bluetooth manager finds my phone. However when I try to connect it says "your phone doesnt support input". My phone is set to "discoverable" (ie. visible to all). But, it just wont work.I had it working on previous systems. But not this time.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am running ubuntu 10.10 and supplying my internet connection with EasyTether on my Motorola Droid 2. I've got my laptop internet working great, but I've tried to follow a couple connection sharing guides and they don't seem to work with my PS3. So the setup is that EasyTether provides the internet connection and an ethernet cable connects the laptop and ps3. I have even tried using FireStarter, but it says eth0 (the connection between laptop and ps3) is not ready.
So here's the question: What should I do to allow my ps3 to access the internet? I've tried manual and automatic settings on my ps3 and neither worked. I believe the problem is with my laptop's settings.
Here's what happens when I do a connection test on my PS3 (automatic config)

And when I do it manually
Obtain IP Address - Succeeded
Internet Connection - Failed

i have got myself a couple of ubuntu 9.10 live cds.. i have booted my laptop after inserting the live cds into the dvd tray..

Just to be sure I tried the same thing with FreeBSD, though I knew from past experiences what to expect from it. It just worked(tm) flawlessly, but I'd rather not keep FreeBSD just for the sake of one device I can't seem to get working with Linux. All I can guess it must either be a kernel bug that has persisted for far too long or a faulty udev rule.
Is there an application or script file that I can use to send a message to my cel phone every day at the same time with cron? I have medications I need to take and sometime do not realize I've missed the timing until 4-5 hours later.
