May 29, 2011I am trying to setup ipv6 lan network.using Ubuntu 10.04 as DNS server.Able to resolve domain names from dns server itself but can't resolve from client machine (backtrack5). I have tried to flush iptables but still no effect; dig gives servfail error.I can ping both machines from one another.

Jul 24, 2011I'm running bind9 on Debian 6. I have a primary domain, 44kg.net, fully configured and working dynamically (the server also runs DHCPd and updates the DNS records properly).

To access my externally-facing website, which has a blog and a forum which are keyed to the external domain, I set up the domains in bind so they would resolve to the server's internal IP. This worked great for a few months, then inexplicably ceased working. I didn't touch anything, but it coincided with our router dropping its VLANs. I've moved the server to a different location and it's still not working properly. Whenever I try to lookup the external domains, I get SERVFAILs. This is annoying because the internal domain is fully working and I copied the basic settings.

Sep 8, 2010while doing socket/network programming, i am getting SSH-2.0-openssh4.7 error, instead of showing day time of server.general description i have Linux Box, with the help of putty i am connecting from windows system to Linux box,no problem in loging,after typing program, i am running the program with gcc. when typing ./a.out, it is showing SSH-2.0-openssh4.7, actually it should display daytime from linux box in both tcp and udp.

give the root password for maintenance:
-Previously I performed a lvreduce command on a LV, after the lvreduce, I reboot the server.
-After login as root I run:

But, it shows:

I expect all people named KATZ to be grouped together, but they aren't. This phenomenon occurs elsewhere in the output file, so it has nothing to do with surnames beginning with the character string KATZ.

Jun 28, 2011I'm trying to install the Sun Java plugin to use in Chrome. The installation seems to have gone well, but I have hit an error trying to create a symbolic link of the libnpjp2.so library in the plugins directory of Chrome.
When typing in "in -s /opt/java/jre1.6.0_26/lib/i386/libnpjp2.so" I get "Syntax error near unexpected token `in' ". I'm not sure what could be wrong, I'm in the right directory.

General :: SSH: Server Unexpected Closed Network Connection
Jul 4, 2011In my case, it occurs intermittently when trying to connect using putty's command line client 'plink.exe' to a linux machine using ssh. For some testing purposes, a linux server is setup with 8K virtual ip addresses and the testing scripts will connect to these ip addresses through ssh using plink.exe. There will be concurrently 25 ssh sessions launched to the server. While it works for sometimes, it throws 'server unexpectedly closed network connection' error intermittently. If the same ip address is tried again manually, it works. While the ssh server is accepting connections, this error is thrown sometimes and unable to find out the reason from the logs. It is not that the ssh connection is completely blocked. It gives this error message while connecting to some of the virtual ip addresses but works some times.
The hosts.deny, sshd_config are tuned to allow the connections, allow more sessions etc.

May 4, 2011I am going crazy with a gzip file. I can decompress the file in Windows using WinRAR but it is impossible on any UNIX operating system. the file seems to be ok. If I do file the_name_of_the_file.gz

Apr 20, 2011I am a Novell (now defunct) CNE tring to learn Linux and am having a lot of trouble finding out where the WB 6-6 is wrong in the syntax for adding local4... the the syslog-ng config file. In the instructions there are discrepancies between commas and simi-comma, they are both in the statements in no particular order. there is no pattern to them. Here is what the book shows:

Ubuntu :: 10.04 System Goes To Sleep Unexpected
Sep 26, 2010I took my Dell Netbook and built some kind of networkstorage around it, with an external USB-HDD.
So far everything is working as expected, the only hassle is that the netbook tends to go to sleep unexpected, for example while playing music, running streamripper or downloading a linux distro.
I couln't find any hints in the syslog or the PM logs what is causing the system to go to sleep.
Fedora :: Live CD'S Unexpected Behavior At Installation
Sep 17, 20091 Choose install to free space on HD where Lenny was the only other OS. No windows this unit.
2. Progressed through disk one and 2 and at end of 2 when no question was asked concerning MBR I knew I had lost dual boot.
3. Fedora booted and I thought the first thing I will do is contact forum and see if I can correct these shortcomings. No internet access in Fedora and that was due I am sure to a choice at setup I did not realize.
4. So I put gparted live CD in, deleted that partition, rebooted to a black screen with word grub flashing cursor and sorry I forgot the text.
5. Went back with gparted to look over the partition and all I could see was the boot flaf was gone (If I remember right that is not a necessity as long as there is /. But I went to flags checked it again rebooted same screen. Obviously Fedora did something to MBR?
6. Deleted Lenny, reinstalled and here I am so someone satisfy my curious nature.

Ubuntu :: Pidgin And ICQ - Received Unexpected Response

My pidgin seems to be the latest one. The only thing I have changed is I have upgraded to 64 bit OS.
