I am trying to setup Rocks Cluster on a Cluster containing 1 Master node and 23 slave nodes connected via a Switch. The master node's eth1 is connected to public IP and eth0 is connected to the slave nodes via the switch.
I was able to install the Rocks cluster on the machine, I configured the IP for master through DHCP. When I run the command 'insert-ethers' on the master node, it doesnot get me any slave nodes.
setting up the Rocks cluster on all the nodes?
well sorry I'm new in this but I just made my cluster with about 4 good machines each with 2 or more gbs of memory and dual-core processor but the question is i can install an operating system in nodes as having the frontend or not different if possible, and how i can do it because i don't now how and i don't find material and tutorials that can help me..

I want to add 50 new users, not on the server yet I want to add them all to group Accounting - with 1 option, not user by user I want to setup a default password for them all, and have it say something like 'You must now change password or no access will be permitted' Any other options I also want to do once, not for each user?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've been reading up on clustering a bit and want to create simple 2 machine cluster of which the 2nd one will turn on and take over traffic at the previous machine's IP (I'm aware there will be a couple minutes of downtime while the failover server boots). I've looked into doing a simple DNS round robin, but I think both machines would need to be online all the time for this to function correctly. I've also looked into linux-HA and GlusterFS but both seem a little intense for the simple failover I'm trying to achieve. One catch if approaching with DNS round robin... the server that I want to setup with a failover also operates as a DNS server. Anyone know the simplest way to complete this? One idea I had (that seemed like a bit of manual work): Create script that runs every 60 secs through CRON on firewall (running pfsense) and have it check if master-server is up. If it's not, it will send a WOL signal to the slave, which has a mirrored image of the first. the problem I have with that is I will also need to create a script to keep both synced properly which seems almost impossible if one is shut down until failover (my thought was periodic rsyncs.) Perhaps creating a FS to direct all files to for the master/slave would be the only way around that.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI know this will sound stupid, but we've been tasked with standing up a professional Linux server to run a vendor tool and product on. And my team has never administered a Linux or Unix box before. I know the concepts, but can't find the tools!
How do I create a user-ID? And is there a GUI tool I can fire up from the command line to make some of this easier? We can get to the box, manipulate files, etc. But to this point we're exclusively usint 'root', and I know I need to stop that, and prevent that happening in the future.
I am trying to build GFS2 cluster with 2 or 3 Fedora 14 nodes, but I've encountered some problems from the start. First luci does not work at all in Fedora 14. There is no luci_admin and even if I manage to start luci service, I get a blank white screen when I try to open it from the browser. I've googled a bit and found that I'd might be able to setup GFS if I manage to build cluster.conf manually and start the cluster suite, but I cannot find documentation on how to create cluster.conf anywhere. If anyone knows how to setup GFS2 without a cluster suite or how to configure cluster.conf.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm having a very strange problem with red hat cluster. After testing it in the lab, I tried to install a new cluster and received the following error: cman not started: Cannot start, cluster name is too long or other CCS error /usr/sbin/cman_tool: aisexec daemon didn't start I've checked the internet for that error, but nothing. I decided to to take the example from cluster.conf man, which looks like that :
[Code]...
And still I get the same error. I can find my servers both from DNS (FQDN and short name) and they also appear in /etc/hosts.
I am working in a project that needs to set up an Apache Web Cluster. The cluster needs to be High-availability (HA) cluster and Load-balancing cluster. Someone mentioned the use of Red Hat Cluster Suite, but, honestly, I can't figure out how it works, I haven't been able to configure it correctly. The project currently have two nodes, but we need to support at least three nodes in the cluster.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a Virtual Private Server which I can connect to using SSH with my root account, being able to execute any linux command and access all the disk area, obviously.
I would like to create another user account, which would be able to access this server using SSH too, but only to a certain directory, for example /var/www/example.com/
For example, imagine this user has a HUGE error.log file (500 MB) located in /var/www/example.com/logs/error.log
When accessing this file using FTP, this user needs to download 500 MB to view the last lines of the log, but I'd like him to be able to execute something like this:
Therefore I need him to be able to access the server using SSH, but I don't want to grant him access to all server areas.
I need create user .when user login --> system go to shutdown .I create this script :
Code:
### Shutdown Script ###
#!/bin/bash

I never considered I would want to remote access my laptop, or that I would be able to figure out how (I know....). In any case, my (only) username and password are not all that complicated - just there for deterence more than anything else (I have a barely functioning battery and a FDE hard drive, so if you're going to unplug and transport this baby, it'll shut off; my hard drive PW is solid).
In any case, I wanted to create another account that I could use to log into with SSH to be able to access files. I've started by disabling SSH login to my current user account (DenyUsers myusername). I know I could add a new user to my system with its own home directory and all, but I want it as least 'present' or invasive as possible. So in sum, is there a way to create an SSH only user, and if so, how?
I thought I would check here to get some pointers, to be sure I don't mess up my system!

My parents want me to fix this computer for my 5-year-old sister to use. I decided to use Linux Mint as the OS because everything (flash, mp3, etc.) is already configured.
How do I create a user account in Linux Mint with limited access for my sister, so that it won't mess up the entire system?
All she does is surf the web, so I'm just worried that she might accidentally mess up a system setting that I eventually will have to fix it.
It should not have any /home/. It only can access a folder and that folder is home default for this account.
Details about my usage: We have a simple folder which contains demo code and we want to create a user to read this folder only
