General :: Edit Right Click Menu Options?

Feb 9, 2010

to be able to copy a file, then right click my mouse and select paste as and save the file with a different file name. It will save me from making a duplicate and then renaming it, or defaulting to command line (which I live in anyways). Or how about copying some text and then just right clicking in a file manager and pasting the text as a file. It would save me the time to open an editor and pasting it and then saving it. I wouldn't think it would be too hard to grab the latest clipboard entry and redirect it to a file. Scripting the functions shouldn't be hard at all. I would think the hardest part would be to implement the right click menu function across different X environments. For example I use KDE 3.5. I don't even know how to edit the right click menu options (Google should fix that). I could setup the changes for my system, but it would only work on KDE 3.5 then. I would have to figure out how to do it for Gnome, Xfce, iceWM, Englightenment, etc. Should this be a standard feature given by the OS?

Ubuntu :: Edit Existing Right Click Menu With Nautilus Actions

Feb 26, 2011

I installed nautilus-actions in order to edit the right-click menu when I click on pictures. All tutorials I read deal with adding custom entries to the right-click menu. But what I want to do, is to edit the present nautilus right click menu. In particular, I have installed nautilus-batch-rename, which comes in english. I want to translate the right-click entry "Rename files..." to German, since my system language is German, too. I already managed to translate the batch-rename pop-up program entries after clicking "rename files..." by editing nautilus-batch-rename.glade but I would love to translate "rename files..." as well.

Ubuntu :: Right Mouse Click Freeze / When Right Mouse Button To Open Options Menu It Freezes And Does Not Open Menu?

Oct 14, 2010

just want to report "Right Mouse Click Freeze" on Ubuntu 10.10. When I click on anything with my right mouse button to open options menu it freezes and does not open menu. Sometimes when I shake my mouse left/right a bit it opens that menu, but this does not work always. It seems like xserver issue, but I'm not sure since I'm not expert in linux yet. It's very annoying issue that I would like to resolve asap.

My System Specs:
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 @ 2.40GHz
CORSAIR XMS2 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 800 (PC2 6400)
Western Digital 250 GB Hard Drive

General :: Mint 9 Menu Options Does Not Allow For Accessing Win. 7?

May 23, 2010

I managed to install Mint 9 on a Windows 7 system. It works except for one thing: at the Menu options, Windows 7 is listed at the bottom, Mint 9 at the top. I can log into Mint 9 but all keys are frozen. When I boot with Super Grub and other discs, I get the same result. All keys are frozen.Is there a way to edit my boot menu so that I can get dual boot.I know I can use Win. 7 disc, repair, then re-install Windows' mbr, but that would give me back my Win. 7 but no Mint 9. (By the way, I cannot install Ubuntu 10.4 or any other Linux; ;so far it works only with Mint 9)

I installed Windows 7 already, and I allocated about 60gb for Ubuntu. The problem now is manually arranging the different options in the Ubuntu partitioning menu. I tried the automatic installation but I was unhappy with the fact that it merged my W7 and the Ubuntu installation on a partition.

General :: When Switch Buttons In Synaptics Touchpad - Tapping Gives A Right-click Menu

Jan 23, 2010

I work on a laptop and typically have a USB mouse plugged in. Each time I start an X session, I switch my mouse buttons with an: Quote:

xmodmap -e "pointer = 3 2 1"

If I decide to unplug the mouse and work with the touchpad, I must always reverse the options again to pointer = 1 2 3, or else, while the right and the left button still work as a left-handed mouse, tapping, instead of acting like a left-click, gives a right-click menu. My touchpad is listed as:

'ImPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad'
using the evdev driver.

I admit that I haven't played much with alternate xmodmap configurations, but I'd like to sort this out. It's even more confusing since I don't have a xorg.conf and, if I manually add one, despite having tried repeatedly, I can't make X-server to read it.

The relevant part of lshal output: Quote:

udi = '/org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/platform_i8042_i8042_AUX3_port_logicaldev_input'
info.capabilities = {'input', 'input.mouse'} (string list)
info.category = 'input' (string)

Ubuntu :: Edit GRUB Boot Options

Jul 1, 2011

I recently switched my laptop from Ubuntu 11.04 to 10.04.2, and during the process, I used GPARTED to partition the drive so that I could have both versions installed simultaneously while I transferred files and settings and such. A few days ago, I removed the 11.04 partition, formatted and added that disk space to 10.04's /home partition. However, when I boot up, GRUB still gives me the option of loading into the newer 11.04 partition with the newer kernels. How do I remove those options from the GRUB menu? I checked the Ubuntu GRUB help pages, but didn't feel confident that I could do edits without messing up the 10.04 boot settings.

OpenSUSE :: Additional H/drive Config \ Options Are Not Available With The Right/click Mouse?

Apr 16, 2010

Not sure if this goes here or the hardware section. I've added another sata drive to my system formatted to Ext4, but i have to put in my password for root priveliges (spell?) to access it. I can understand from a security point of view about the password, but there is no way to create new folders or even copy/paste data to it, as the options are not available with the right/click mouse.My external USB drive requires no password, and i can do all the usual functions with it, but not so with the internal sata drive. Is there a way to enable the internal drive for 'normal' operations.
