Fedora :: Log Down The Change Of My Partition?

I installed Fedora in an external hard drive, and encrypted all the file systems by using LUKS except /boot. What I want to implement is, every change on /boot is logged to encrypted file systems, in order to improve the security. I got a peek to audit, but it seems that audit is the tool which can only log down the information immediately. If one day, somebody gets my hard drive, and modifies the kernel or ram disk file, then returns it to me, how can I detect there is a modification on /boot?
One solution I got (which is not pretty good for me) is, I can use dd to make a whole image of /boot to my encrypted partition, and check whether the image and the /boot partition is the same after every boot...

changing the bootble parttion in linux using lilo. Presently when i boot the system i will be booting from primary partition(/dev/sda1) . Is there any commando to change the bootable partition to secondary(/dev/sda2)

I have fedora 12 installed on a laptop with an LVM partition, /dev/hda5 logiacal partion in the /dev/hda4 one, a boot partition on /dev/hda3 and a FAT on /dev/hda2 for win data. There was also a 10GB free partion left from older works on /dev/hda1. Now the /boot partition was set to only 0,2GB and this conflicts with the kernel updates. I freed the 10GB section, formatted it to ext 4 and copied all stuff from the /boot sector on it. now the old /boot is mounted in the grub.conf on a UUID and not the /dev/hda3 as it comes up on fdisk.
I would now like to swith the boot from the small /dev/hda1 partiotn to the larger /dev/hda3 one, but don't know how to manage it with grub (fedora, i understand it's grub-legacy).

I have an NTFS partition that I use to swap file back and forth between Vista and F13. I store school files in there, like documents and text files. When I use Nautilus to access the partition, I am always asked for my root password. This is a little annoying. Is there anyway I can keep this from happening?
I have my Windows partition set up to auto mount with fstab. I can access it fine in the command line and launchers that I created with out the root password. I suppose I could do the same for this partition, but I would like to access it directly with Nautilus if it is possible.

I am relatively new to Linux and Opensuse. I created the / root partition and now it is growing and maxing out. I have partitioner available to me but how do I change the partition size when the root partition is mounted. Do I login as root and then umount or modify fstab and restart and change from command line or do I format and reinstall everything? I have room to expand but not sure how to manage this?

I am completely new to Linux in general, and have recently downloaded Fedora 15 KDE spin. I tried dual-booting between Windows 7 and Fedora by shrinking one of my Windows partitions (I have two, this partition not containing the Windows installation). I tried shrinking it to 30 GB less than the total space available on the partition, and after pressing continue, received an error (which I unfortunately dismissed quickly and can't remember). In the file manager, Fedora showed that my partition changed from 1.3Tb to 1.2 Tb, but I couldn't access it. Upon rebooting into Windows, I still can't access it, receiving a "format drive before use" popup and then error stating that it is possibly of a different filesystem or corrupt.
Unfortunately, I stupidly didn't backup any of my data (which I will be sure to remember to do in the future). I installed EASEUS Partition Master 8.0.1 Home Edition, which states that my drive is still of NTFS filesystem and has the total space it should. However, upon clicking "check drive," it states there are no errors and when trying to "explore files," it doesn't find any (yet it shows the correct amount of used and unused space). I then tried running TestDisk, but only allows me to check my media drive E, which is my dvd drive that has my Fedora Live CD in it (which cannot be ejected manually or through Windows, an error stating it cannot be ejected). I didn't go through with TestDisk for my DVD drive because I needed to verify the type of partition (which to my knowledge shouldn't even exist). It shows 700 something MiB / 600 something MiB. Although I have decent general knowledge about computers, I am a complete novice when it comes to doing something like this.

I have gparted but can't change my ubuntu partition.
I guess that's because I can't unmount it. And... I guess my Ubuntu won't work if I unmount it? xD
So... I heard that I could use a Gparted live CD to do this.
The only problem is that I can't boot from a cd/dvd drive.
So, is there a option to change the partition size while running Ubuntu?
Or is there a option to somehow unlock all BIOS settings?
When I try to acess the BIOS settings it ask for a password, and I just press enter... And I come to a menu where I can't change anything. Is this because of wrong password? Or is the password right but everything is blocked?
I mean, I can't change boot priotiy to cd/dvd just HDD and LAN.

my HD is partitioned in 3 volumes. The one witch is Ubuntu installed, I can change the permissions normally. The other ones I try to change the permissions on the properties and on terminal using chmod, but none of those work. They work only in the Ubuntu partition.

I cannot write files to an ext4 partition I created unless using gksu nautilus, so I tried Code: sudo chown my_user /dev/sda3 but the owner is still reported in the properties to be root. /dev/sda3 is the path I see in gparted.

I have, as I have in the past, copy/pasted a partition using gparted to get a working OS to another place.
I have always done this in the past to a different drive. Never paid much attention to the UUID.
This time I did it on the same drive. The partitions have the same UUID. This is not a good thing.
The copied OS boots and mounts fine as I edited the fstab to go by /dev/sdxy (where x is the drive and y the partition). My grub uses a custom menu using symbolic menu entries so it goes by the partition definition instead of UUID too.
I would really like to change the UUID on that partition.

I'm running a dual boot system with winXP and Debian Lenny. Here's my hard drive set up
hda1 - windows ntfs (just for use with windows)
hda2 - / ext3
hda3 - swap
hda4 - /home ext3
hda5 - /windows fat32 (shared partition between linux and windows)
Now, I have access to /windows but it's owned by root so I can't create/modify anything and I can't unmount it to use chown.

Im in a live CD session right now and copying the main ubuntu partition to a new partition. basically im doing this to install windows and have a separate partition for STUFFs like videos etc. since i cant have more than 4 primary partitions. win7 takes up 2 partitions and ubuntu takes 1 and an extended which will have swap and "STUFFs". i know how to reinstall the grub but i dont know the other stuffs.

I have Ubuntu 10.10 and Windows7 installed as dual-boot on my PC. When the machine starts up, Ubuntu is first in the list of boot options. After 10 seconds GRUB automatically boots that partition. I want to make the partition for Windows7 the default. How can I do that? I know some Unix, e.g. how to cd, gedit, etc..

I recently installed Ubuntu on one of my partitoins. Sinec I am new, I formatted that partition to install a different type. Now when I boot my machine, instead of booting to my Windows partitoin, it boots to my blank Linux partition and gives me a Linux prompt.
I can boot from the Ubuntu DVD, by changing it in my BIOS, but I can't change the boot partition order within Linux (that I know of).
