I just installed Fedora 13 on a Medion E1210. The main problem i have is that the keyboard of the notebook doesn't work. If i use an external USB-keyboard it works fine.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently upgraded to kubuntu 10.10 and now I can't play songs and sync my ipod outside of gnome. Before the upgrade I was able to access the ipod using rhythm box, it wouldn't be detected at first but if I would click music and then import folder and then click ipod touch under places rhythm box would recognise it and it would be mounted at /home/linux/.gvfs/iPod touch. But now unlike before on kubuntu 10.04, when I plug in my ipod it is actually recognised by the device notifier, but it only recognises it as a camera it has no access to the rest of the file system where the music is located, and their is no eject button in the device notifier to unmount. And because of this I can't mount gvfs unless I unplug the ipod, logout, and log back in into gnome. I tried mounting with ifuse before on 10.04 but it didn't work right, now when i try it in kde I get a whole new error message.
linux@linux:~$ ifuse /mnt/ipod/
No device found, is it connected? If it is make sure that your user has permissions to access the raw usb device. If you're still having issues try unplugging the device and reconnecting it.
I tried
umount camera:/Apple iPod Touch (PTP mode)@usb:001,005/
But that just gave me
bash: syntax error near unexpected token `('
I didn't think that command would work but I tried it because I have no idea where the hell the ipod is mounted or if it's even mounted at all. Is their any way to keep kde from detecting my ipod touch? Or anything I can do in the terminal so I can use my ipod with gtkpod or rhythmbox while in kde.
I have tried all the methods that are out there but nothing works. Under Fedora 12, it is seen by VBox

Running ITunes under Vbox sees the IPOD but I can't do anything, it will not copy music over, matter of fact I can't build any libraries in ITunes. I've installed "iFuse" on both my Fedora and Ubuntu systems, no go with that direction. Under Ubuntu it is seen but I can't do anything with it.
I needed to switch from Win7 starter to Ubuntu 10.10 remix netbook edition) as Win 7 became more disappointing than it even was I'm praising Ubuntu for many things but having one issue: unable to detect my CD/DVD USB connected external drive, hence impossible to load any software that I was hoping to use with my netbook. ve read on Internet that it apperas to be a bug in the Ubuntu 10.10 netbook version - has anyone have any solution to this problem? I'm willing to experiment a bit as I'm in a desperation to get my software going! cheers
View 1 Replies View RelatedOne of the first issues I struggled with after installing CentOS 5 was that my screen would not come back to me after closing my laptop lid. Note that this is in a command line interface (not GNOME). After unsuccessful searching on the web I stumbled upon this configuration file (/etc/acpi/events/video.conf):
# Configuration to turn on DPMS again on video activity, needed for some
# laptops. Disabled by default, uncomment if your laptop display stays blank
# after you close and open the lid.
I installed openSUSE 11.4 on my notebook (Packard-Bell EasyNote LJ61) and started the system. I logged in and KDE appears. After some minutes, I started firefox and thunderbird and the computer shuts down. After resarting, I installed the fglrx driver.
After restarting again, I let the desktop stay, and let him from 16:30 oclok to 18:00. He stayed so. Then I started firefox and thunderbird and the system shuts down again....
Here my specs:
Packard Bell EasyNote LJ61
AMD Athlon X2 Dual-Core QL-64
ATI Radeon HD 3200 Graphics
openSUSE 11.4 (i586) KDE 4.6.00 release 6
how do i open preferences... also, when i installed the notebook edition,, it doesn't show my icons on the desktop.. :/
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just put a fresh install of Ubuntu 10.10 on my HP Pavilion dv9000, and everything seems to be running well except for my touchpad! When I boot up into Ubuntu, the mouse works at the log in screen, but the second I sign in, it stops.
A USB powered mouse works, but not the touchpad. I even booted up from a live USB to make sure that it's not a hardware problem, and it worked there. Is there any way I can fix this easily? I don't want to have to do a fresh install, because I put all of my files back on it again as well as installed a bunch of applications and programs.
My iPod Touch (16Go) doesn't seem to be recognized by Suse. When I plug it in, nothing happens at all (except that it seems to start charging its battery). Nothing pops up, it doesn't automount, it's not seens by KDE or by GtkPod... Nothing at all. It tried installing a bunch of iPod-related stuff from the repository, rebooted, nothing more happens.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI've just installed 10.4 and it works like a charm. The only problem I have is that I've plugged my ipod touch 3g in and nothing happens. It seems like the system doesn't detect it. Opening rhythmbox nothing happens either.
Do i need to do any extra thing in order to have my ipod working?
The only thing I can see in the syslog is this message:
I have an iPod Touch 2nd Gen with 3.1.3, Ubuntu 10.04, and the most up to date software, and my iPod doesn't appear in Rhythmbox. It shows up with Nautilus, so I know its being read.

When I plug my iPod into the USB port, a message is prompted, which tells me it detected a digital music device and asks me to select a program to access it. Then I select "Rythmbox" and Rythmbox opens.
My iPod's name shows on the left bar, but when I select it, no songs appear, and also I can't drag songs from my library to my iPod.
I aready tried Banshee and Amrok and it didn't work on those either.
I'm trying to connect to my 1st gen iPod touch using an Ad-Hoc network, but I can't find it on my iPod. I want to use it to do a presentation, not internet share or anything too complicated. I set the network up as follows (I'm on 10.10 by the way). Create new wireless network > Network name: xyz Wireless security: none - Create Then I went to edit connections and set an IP address and subnet mask and gateway (to 192.255.0.1, 255.255.255.0, 1.1.1.1 respectively) and set Band to "B/G 2.4 GHz". My iPod doesn't seem to be able to find the network. (It doesn't show up and typing it into "other" it "can't find the network xyz")

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have checked and as of right now can not find any topic on my problem. I purchased and installed a usb touch screen for my EEE PC 900 4GB hard drive. My problem is that my computer will not recognize the screen. When I go into the Systems Test, The USB touch is recognized, but that is it. Do I have to download drivers? (Even for a usb?) I went into the bios, and enabled the web-cam, which I have used for power. (I think) If any one can offer me some advice, I will be forever grateful. I would love to have this up and running for my husbands birthday, which is in 2 weeks. Could the problem be with the size of the hard drive? I am 98% sure I have it installed correctly. I have followed the instructions that were supplied.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI just acquired a shiny new 64Gb iPod Touch and for the life of me I can't get it working in either Amarok or Banshee at all and it doesn't automatically mount as it is supposed to on 10.04 Beta 1 or 2
lsusb shows it's there and after following this thread I could get it mounted and see the directory structure.

But it doesn't show up in Banshee or Amarok at all.
Is it just because it's new and might have a quirk? Or could it be something simple I have missed? I'm not a total noob but still learning
I have currently installed Linux Mint 10 Gnome 32-bit edition and I have a iPod Touch 2nd gen with 32GB.I was able to see the music(mp3 files) in my iPod touch in linux mint 8 and 9. But currently I have the following issues:When I connect my iPod Touch with the system I got two popup asking me You have just inserted digital audio player.ose what applications to launch"ou have just inserted a medium with digital photos. Choose what applications to launch"I know that these are popups are normal. I currently dnot have any photos or videos in my iPod Touch(will try to add them in the future) so I used Rhythmbox to open the music present in my iPod touch. I'm able to find my iPod under "Devices" in Rhythmbox. But when I click it, Rhythmbox shows that there are no music present in my iPod Touch by showing "0 artist" and "0 Albums".
However I know for sure that there are definitely songs in my iPod since I'm able to browse and play songs directly from my iPod. Is there any way to resolve this? I have also tried opening it in banshee but with the same result.I tried to drag and drop songs present in my library of rhythmbox to my iPod and this does not do any thing. Previously in LM 8 or 9, when I do drag and drop I will be able to see my new songs in my iPod.
I am very very new to linux and this is my first experience in linux..I preferred to start with UBUNTU 10.10...I downloaded the last release of 10.10 netbook and desktop edition. I have a TABLET WIN7 PC, it does not have any Keyboard and it supports multi-touch, and works properly on Win7.
My Tablet name is THD PX1 with 1.66 Intell atom processor, 1 GB Ram, 256MB Intell 3d Accelerated VGA, 160 GB H.D.D and 3*USB2 and ... ( And at the back of my Netbook wrote that it supports LINUX and Win both) After I started the netbootin and provided live USB Netbook UBUNTU edition, I used it on my tablet and started it.
When I logged in, I faced with a STRANGE, REALLY STRANGE EVENT...THE TOUCH DOES NOT WORK CORRECTLY, You have to put 2 fingers on it to work as a touch screen tablet, else it does not work as a touchable tablet... And it is not multi touch... YOU HAVE TO PUT 2 Fingers ON IT....! I attached a Wireless USB + Mouse to it and try to install UBUNTU on it, maybe it works, ( I HOPE), but steel it is downloading the updates in installing process..
trying all sorts of xorg.conf settings and searching out drivers. Out of the box, Debian moves the cursor when I touch the screen and move my finger across it. The only problem is that it doesn't process it correctly. It is moving faster, so it doesn't stay under it. It also doesn't land under my finger when I touch the screen.I am running a Panasonic Toughbook CF-29.Driver I am trying: evtouchHere is my current xorg.conf: Code: # xorg.conf (X.Org X Window System server
configuration file)

I want to install tomcat so i followed the steps mentioned in below link: [URL] After going through the steps i checked for
Code:
./startup.sh
but it showed me the error
Code:
touch: cannot touch `/usr/share/apache-tomcat-6.0.32-src/logs/catalina.out': No such file or directory
/usr/share/apache-tomcat-6.0.32-src/bin/catalina.sh: line 372: /usr/share/apache-tomcat-6.0.32-src/logs/catalina.out: No such file or directory
when i went through my "/usr/share/apache-tomcat-6.0.32-src/" there was no "logs" folder so i tried
Code:
find / -name catalina.out
but it returned nothing.BTW i have installed "apache-tomcat-6.0.32-src", "java-1.6.0". Please if any one could look into the problem and provide me the solution to error mentioned above and why there is no "logs" directory in "/usr/share/apache-tomcat-6.0.32-src/".
I have bought a device with 10.1" capacitive touch screen. I have tried OpenSuse Milestone 5 (future release). It works great, but...My capacitive touch screen positioning cursor correctly but when I touch screen, it is like I clicking mouse for 9 times. One touch of icon of a program... and it opens it 9 times. I looked in hardware information in yast and the name of my touch panel in the following:
UNITEC Touch Panel (Win7)
Vendor number: 205437
It works good, but not useful, because I cannot really touch any icon with my finger, it will open it 9 times...
I am trying to Jailbreak my ipod touch 4g with redsn0w 0.9.6rc14 (in wine) but am wondering if it will work?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Samsung N130 with a Realtek 8192 wifi card (possibly 8192e, I'm not sure) and I am trying to run Fedora 12 on it. I used to run Ubuntu until trying their latest beta and realizing it's not very good, so I looked for something else. Ubuntu was at least easy to get the wifi working with just a few quick commands that were written out, word for word, in order, on the Ubuntu forums. I tried openSUSE on here and it didn't have wifi working out of the box either but people on their forums refused to give me actual instructions and just kept bumping me from thread to thread with people giving vague advice or else just telling me I was looking in the wrong place. I'm hoping that someone can give me clear and detailed instructions on how to get this wifi card working. Keep in mind that I am coming from Ubuntu and so I'm not super comfortable in CLI, if I need to do some CL stuff I will need clear and detailed instructions on how to do that.

If so, will an HP Touch Smart computer run Ubuntu? I would very much like to purchase said machine via Linux Foundation discounts if this is the case.
