I untar the pack, and launch the application calling a script, from within the untarred folder,
Code:
This launches a gui which allows me to setup a case, which needs some setup file, tipically some *.in and a mesh file, tipically some *.msh.
Other mode of executuion consists of calling the setup file as argument to Impact.sh script ( CLI execution mode, for g33k5 )
My problem is : I have packed the whole stuff into a Slackware .tgz, that places it in /usr/local/Impact, and placed a calling script in /usr/local/bin,
Code:
Code:
I decided to hack the ImpactGUI_OGL_linux_amd64.sh script from

no avail,

even after adding /usr/local/Impact/bin to PATH... won't go...
I can run this thing from within its directory... but I do not like messing within the directories of my applications, this is why I sent this to /usr/local, and placed a calling script in /usr/local/bin...

View 2 Replies View Relatedi am trying to use a small application called toonel. its in jar format and it helps to compress traffic. i can run it succesfully but i cant seem to be able to get my applications e.g firefox to communicate with it!
normally in windows i just start the app, then set my browser proxy to 127.0.0.1:8080 which is where it listens for connections but so far in ubuntu i cant seem to be able to get it to work.
I suspect this will be beyond my abilities but thought I'd give it a try. A few months ago I wrote code for an application called nagios which would send me tweets when a system within my network ran into a problem (code below):

View 4 Replies View RelatedI feel there's a bit of a misunderstanding going on between C++ and me...My problem is that I have a deque of pointers to a class, and create objects then add them to the deque in a for loop. However, the destructor is called on the object as soon as the loop quits.
Code:
This prints:
Code:
Now, if I change the deque from deque<Test*> to deque<Test> then it works fine - I get:
Code:
However, I can't do this with my actual code, because I am creating a deque of pointers to an abstract class, so it won't let me instantiate the class. (This is all so that I can take advantage of polymorphism, and call functions on a set of similar objects without worrying what type of object I'm dealing with).
So, I suppose my question is: what is the correct way to create that deque of pointers to the abstract class? I don't seem to be barking up the right tree currently.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI don't know what I'm trying to achieve falls into 'routing' or 'Bridging'???I have two network ports (with static IP ) and I would like to forward RX packets of one to the other.
I have done this in Windows by enabling a service called 'routing'.Is there something similar in Fedora 11? I am pretty sure there are a few thread explaining these but I am just not educated enough to find one that makes sense to me, so Please excuse me for starting a redundant thread and point me to it?

View 3 Replies View RelatedAm just wondering what the notion is behind having a package without all needed files, and having a -devel package with the rest. Such that whenever am installing a package fron tarball, and it says it cannot get a package, I always install the -devel equivalent and all gets to be OK. Why dont they just have everything in the original package?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have been using a private computer on my departmental network. I am now in the process of switching to the public system. This is a system of different computers, each of which mounts the same homeserver directories for users. One may login to any of these machines and see the same home directory. The department is running a clone of Red Hat Enterprise Linux called Scientific Linux. It is not a lot different from Fedora Linux.
I copied a crontab entry form my private machine and ran crontab -e on one of these computers. I suppose it will now do what needs doing, but what if I need to change the entry or add other entries. I will have to search around for the one computer on which crontab is running. Is there some global network way to do the same thing, i.e., so that I can edit the crontab entries from any machine in the public network?
Using the following command:
xterm -e tail -f stdout.log
I can see the log of an applications and it's update in realtime. I want to uninstall the gnome and I'm looking for the equivalent command for the terminal. I want on startup tty4 for example to show me the log.
In Fedora 8
File: /etc/inittab contained
S0:2345:respawn:/usr/sbin/faxgetty ttyS0
S1:2345:respawn:/sbin/vgetty ttyS1
In Fedora 13
Created folder: /etc/event.d
Created files: /etc/event.d/ttyS0

Neither faxgetty or vgetty start on reboot or changing runlevel. How do you implement the equivalent of the old inittab function?
Does anyone know a linux equivalent to the Network Stumbler? Some people recommend the WiFi Radar, but I found it not nearly as functional.
