I am a new fedora user. I want to download videos from web which wee can see. In windows xp we can download it by using IDM and its advance browser integration. I have setup WINE in my PC. But I am not able to work with it. How to work with it.

But now WinRAR is the default app for RAR-files and the icon has been replaced by a WinRAR iconI have removed Wine and it's settings but nothing helped. How do I remove the Wine integration?

I unpacked the tor.gz file and doubled clicked "start-tor-browser".I get the message "Do you want to run "start-tor-browser", or display its contents?"I run it and nothing happens. Could you please give some insght?

Anyway, 75 percent of my users are using Linux. I'm guessing with WINE because the program is Windows based. That's all fine and well with me, but I have a problem. The donations option, opens a browser and lets the user make a donation to my paypal account, and the callsign lookup option opens the browser to the qrz.com database for whatever callsign the user enters. WINE, doesn't seem to support opening browsers for my software, but I've seen it do it for other software. I was wondering what I needed to run to have WINE open a browser on linux like the other software I've seen do it.Here is a snippet of the code used to open the browser to my donations page:

What can I run the URL with that WINE will understand?
I've recently upgraded to Fedora 15 after a failed Fedora 11-12 upgrade (luckily all my data is on a seperate drive!) and have been re-installing all the applications i had before. One strange problem i've come across is with XMMS. When it gets to the end of a song it wont move onto the next one. I've tried checking and unchecking the 'No Playlist Advance' option and it has made no difference. I tried changing the output from ALSA to OSS but that didn't even play the tracks so i switched back.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a very strange problem with Fedora 12 and my wireless Broadcom 4311 card.After the installation of Fedora 12 the wireless card was visible but not activated. I did an extensive search in Internet and finally I got everything done. The card was visible and activated. I found my home network; the strength of the signal was nearly 100%.The problem is that although the card is visible and activated my browser is not working well. I can say that it is not working at all. Even now I am using other computer to write this message because Firefox cannot load any web page at all.
The strange part of the problem comes with the fact that when I open terminal window and when I am using yum everything looks OK. The speed is very low though.Does anybody have some ideas about the problem and its solution?When I use Windows on the very same computer everything is fine, the Internet speed is close to the maximum limits of my provider's speed which is 10 mbps.
I am using sony vaio vpceb24en it is having functionality of quick web access by spashtop browser but whenever I try use the spastop by quick web access button and try to connect to internet via wifi it is showing no connection but when I scan the network is found but it is not able to connect to net Vaio WiFi.

Is it possible to run Windows Firefox plugins/addons under Wine while the browser itself is the native Linux Firefox? For example; I am considering taking the introduction to Linux Open University course, but the course requirements state the need to use Shockwave Player. Obviously Shockwave Player is not available for Linux but it is (allegedly) possible to run both the Windows version of Firefox and Shockwave Player under Wine. I would prefer to run the Linux version of Firefox natively with only the Windows version of Shockwave Player using Wine.
Is there some method to achieve this ? Maybe there is some kind of wrapper application, something like the one used for Windows wireless networking drivers (NDISWrapper) or maybe there are instructions on how to embed the Shockwave Player using Wine in Firefox somewhere. Obviously my needs are quite specific but I am sure that being able to use Windows browser plugins/addons under the Linux version of Firefox would be of interest to at least a few other people.
i always run updates if i get prompted about it... this time i ran a couple or so updates and software updates and restarted, i realise my VirtualBox and Wine isn't running at all... i click on the icons but nothing fires up.. all my programs on Wine seem to fall under the same issue...

I'm playing a little bit with tracker, and I particularly like the feature that enables you to tag files. I was trying to see if there was a way to integrate it into Nautilus, and I stumbled upon this: [URL]. Which, of course, doesn't work for me! (Fedora 10). One thing to note is that they say to install python-nautilus, which I couldn't find, so I installed nautilus-python instead... just a different name for different distros or are they actually 2 different packages?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI installed Fedora 15 on Hyper-V (Windows host). I installed to disk, rebooted. Now I'm off to installing the Integration services, but I've got a few problems:
1) Since it is not yet installed, it looks like the network is not functional.
2) From what I can see, I need to have a couple of things installed beforehand (GCC amoung other things)
The problem is that when I did this previously with Virtualbox, I was able to install the pre-requisites with yum. Now this won't work as I have no network. I can't use VirtualBox here at work as we have everything else running under Hyper-V so have no choice but to go this way (VB and HV can't live together on the same host). it's just so much harder to go through this installation with Hyper-V.
I am new to fedora and installed wine to see if I could get the sony reader software working (required to access sony bookstore from my sony ereader). Well the program did not work though it did create icons on my desktop. wine kept crashing and I said lets just get rid of it. I uninstalled wine via yum remove and nothing appeared to happen so I did rpm -qa |grep wine and saw lots of stuff. So I simply did yum remove wine* and then a rpm -qa |grep wine was empty. however wine is still under applications on my desktop and still has a category for programs--reader. I should also mention that while wine was installed I attempted to remove the reader via the wine uninstalller but a) wine gave a message of a core crash and b) all the uninstaller did was give me the option to reinstall the reader program. so now when I attempt to open an epub it tries with the sony reader software. I know I can just right click to use another program but for now I want wine gone completely from my pc and the sony program gone.

Video with sound works only in Chrome, but full screen is not available and its very buggy. What to do? Don't want to use Adobe Flash, it's even more buggy, even with music files. Full screen also doesn't work good, although video plays in every browser.

As far as I understand my internet works fine, I was able to download updates from the software center and various programs too. My problem is that when I try to go to any other website than google the browser just freezes up. The bar in the left bottom corner just says "Waiting for <site name>" Strangely google and google mail works. Ive tried going through all of the network settings but I am at a loss now

I had downloaded and installed Google Chrome, took some work, but got it working, only no Flash support. Believing this to be a problem with Chrome, I tried in FireFox, and again, no Flash support. I downloaded Opera, the same, Konqueror, ditto. I downloaded the latest Flash, (Just the libflashplayer.so in the package, isn't that a little weird?) and put it in /usr/lib64/mozilla/plugins and tried Firefox again, no luck. I downloaded the latest version, installed it, but it keeps saying "firefox-bin: no such file or directory" even though it is clearly there. There is something not quite right here, and I can't seem to figure it out.

I also installed a ROM for Pokemon FireRed. I know the ROM works because I ran it, but a pop-up came up that told me that the 1M sub-circuit wasn't properly configured. After searching the internet, I figured out that I have to change the options/settings on the Emulator from 64K to 128K. However, I don't know how to open the Emulator because it doesn't show up under my Applications or my Installed software. where/how I can open Emulator to change the settings?

I wrote a script with "sed" to replace !num! in this file, which is very straightforward. However, based on the !num!, I want to remove the number of "#" based on the !num! value. Is there an easy way to do that with "sed"; otherwise, i will have to write a script to loop through the file.
