Fedora :: Unable To Stream Music From F12 Box And Access It Via Itunes 9 On Mac OS?

Jan 6, 2010

I had mt-daapd working fine and was able to stream music from my Fedora 12 box and access it via Itunes 9 on Mac OS X until I edited my /etc/fstab file, so that the Windows vista partition (where my mp3 files reside) would auto map so I would not have to authenticate to map the NTFS drive each time I logged in, the NTFS mount directory is set to /mnt/windows and updated this in /etc/mt-daapd.conf now when I access the Daap share using Itunes 9 via Mac OS X the list of songs loads and I can select the song but it never plays and when I connect to the Daap share using Banshee an X appears next to the song.

Ubuntu Multimedia :: Open Source Video Stream Ripper?

Dec 15, 2010

I'm vaguely remembering a video stream ripper that was open source and could be compiled for linux, mac, and windows. It's name ended with ++ and I can't remember anything else Basically, it was like StreamTransport but open source and multiprotocol capable. Can anybody help me find it again? I'd be open to alternatives too of course! My basic need is to rip anything being rendered by my video card.

Software :: Open Source Software With No Revenue Stream?

May 21, 2010

I am currently having a disagreement with a co-worker who is a die hard Micro$oft fan. He claims that there is no Open Source software that doesn't have a revenue stream. He says that no one would spend their time developing a significant piece of software without a goal of making a profit. He uses RedHat and Ubuntu as an example because they offer paid support to businesses. I thought about Gentoo but they offer ads on their website.

I am trying to get a list of major Open Source softare that has no revenue stream what-so-ever. The two that I could think of are OpenOffice and the GIMP. But I am not even 100% sure about these two.If people could chip in examples of companies that don't have ads on their website, charge for support, charge developers, or otherwise get revenue some way some how,

Step 1: Download the RPM version of real player from [URL]

Step 2: right click on RealPlayer11GOLD.rpm and click extract here.

Step 3: in a terminal window navigate through the folders /opt/real/RealPlayer

Step 4: type in

Code:
sudo ./RealPlay.bin

Step5: now you can put this folder anywhere you want it to be and to assign it to your music files simply right click on the music file and tell it to open with RealPlay.bin.

In the following site I cannot see the video stream:[URL]...Choosing "TW1 Livestream" should gives a video stream, but it gives a black screen. Clicking on that black windows gives a text: Waiting for video.

A German text shows that the actual Version from Windows Media Players should be installed.In the past I could see video there, but after an upgrade it does not work any more.Looking in aboutlugins I see following Windows Media Player plugins:

Fedora X86/64bit :: 14 Cannot Play More Than 1 Multicast Stream

Aug 17, 2011

I have a project to run simultaneously up to 8 video streams, from a pool of about 100 multicast cameras, and display them on 4 monitors. The PC I am using is a brand-new dual CPU 4-core Intel Xeon E5620 2.40GHz, Intel S5520SCR motherboard, 8GB memory and nvidia Quadro NVS 450 graphics. It's running Fedora 14 64-bit and outputs on 2x2 LCD monitors using Xinerama. So far, so good.

Playing a single video stream from any camera works fine. The problem is that, when I open a 2nd media player window with the purpose of playing other camera, all those two video windows play a single stream. It doesn't matter which camera stream I opened first, as soon as I open a 2nd stream, both windows show the same stream (either the first, or the second, at what seems to be a random choice). Further, a 3rd or a 4th video window will also play the same stream. In other words, one stream sort of "contaminates" all the other streaming windows to play that particular stream only. The problem remains the same even when the following changes are applied:

- graphics driver: nvidia or nouveau;
- video player: vlc or mplayer;
- number of active monitors: 4, 2 or 1.

I am really puzzled because, on the same computer, Windows XP SP3 32-bit runs beautiful. I can smoothly play up to 12 video streams and some computer applications, simultaneously. I cannot believe that an obsolete OS such as Windows XP can outperform by a long shot Fedora 14 64-bit in video streaming projects. Just doesn't make sense.

Note: I have also tested Windows 7 64-bit, it also runs multiple video streams in parallel without any problems, but Win 7 has issues that XP is free of (such as graphics output glitching every few seconds).

OpenSUSE :: Unable To Install Software From Source B/c Missing C Libraries?

Jul 11, 2010

I'm having trouble installing software from the source files. From what I can gather the problem lies with not having the correct c libraries installed. My understanding is you use the ./configure, make, and make install commands in a terminal to install. And that the configure command checks to see if you have everything to install. this is the output when I try to configure:

checking for a BSD-compatible install... /usr/bin/install -c
checking whether build environment is sane... yes
checking for a thread-safe mkdir -p... /bin/mkdir -p
