Fedora Servers :: Build Of Apache 1.3.41 Fails On F12?
Jan 9, 2010
I'm trying to move an existing webserver from an old machine to a machine with Fedora 12 installed on it. ThSince the version available in the repository is version 2.X I downloaded the source from apache.org and tried to compile it. I ran configure using the default options and it an without any warnings or errors. However when I run make it fails with the following error:
I don't have much experience working with Ubuntu servers, but I recently decided to try to set one up. I have a remote server hosted with a static ip address, but I can't seem to install apache.
When I run the command
Code:
It fails to install with because it is missing dependencies.
"apt-get install -f" doesn't help. How can I install the necessary dependencies to get this working?
I have observed a problem twice now with Apache trying to restart but hanging somewhere in the process. This happens after a power failure; the machine comes back just fine, but not the web server. The machine is on a UPS, but occasionally it runs out of "juice" before someone can get to it (we have a generator for emergencies). When this happens, a ps indicates about three processes running that are trying to start Apache, but they just sit there - this time for three days since the power failure was on a Friday. I can fix this by killing those processes and doing an Apache restart - but that takes human intervention, which is not acceptable.
I suspect this may have to do with SSL, since when I do a manual restart it asks me for the SSL password. There must be some way around this so the system can recover on its own. This system's web site runs under SSL since it maintains medical information that must by law be protected. But it also could be life-threatening to someone if the system can't come back and as a result a person can't get help.
So I would appreciate some guidance as to what I could change that would allow for system recovery without intervention. I'm happy to provide any configuration file info, if you tell me where to look.
as I'm advancing in building some nice rpm I finally wanted to install on of my gems also the build was successful the actual install fails with missing dependencies.
Code:
$ rpm --root /home/sascha/rpmbuild/ -i ./RPMS/x86_64/memcached-1.4.1-2.x86_64.rpm error: Failed dependencies: libc.so.6()(64bit) is needed by memcached-1.4.1-2.x86_64 libc.so.6(GLIBC_2.2.5)(64bit) is needed by memcached-1.4.1-2.x86_64
I have an init script running as a special build user which performs an automated build that fails with (Too many open files).I updated /etc/security/limits to allow the special user more open files, but that didn't work - the init script still isn't allowed more open files.Here's a demonstration of the problem;
recently i have been building my own kernels, and have been successful. however, over the last 2 days, using the proper documentation and methods i always get to the same point that rpmbuild fails at. it's very frustrating to say the least...i am somewhat new to fedora, as i tend to use debian-based systems or freeBSD, where the approach and methodology is quite different to that of redhat. the command used:
this builds the kernel with modules(needed by me) and this is where it fails:
[Code]...
if anyone has fix let me know, i can't update or upgrade rpmubuild without doing so to my whole system, so i hope this isn't a bug in rpmbuild.... i already had to upgrade yum & yum-utils because of a bug that wouldn't let "builddep" work. (come on fedora, this is a standard release, i shouldn't be having problems with yum or with rpm! this is apart of the OS's core isn't it? anyway, if someone who is in the know has a solution
I had no problems up to the newest kernel version. But for 2.6.40-4 akmods fails to build the kmod with the following error:

Im trying to build Mandrivas theme ia_ora from source but it fails.

I'm trying to build a Fedora 12 cluster to run DHCP on top of two servers using pacemaker and drbd. The pacemaker runs great but i'm having the hardest time getting DRBD installed.
My kernel version is 2.6.32.11-99.fc12.i686.PAE First i tried to [root@dhcp-primary drbd]#yum install drbd this doesn't give me everything because apparently the kernel module for DRBD must be built from source. so i unpacked drbd-8.3.6.tar.gz and tried :

I'm not very experienced in compiling from source i'd love to make an rpm for this but after scouring the web and trying different install methods, I am still at a loss.
I am having a problem getting Apache to serve out a directory. If I place an index.html in the Document.Root I can see that page. When I remove the index.html I only see the test page for Apache. the relevant section form my httpd.conf. I am not using virtual hosts just setting up one Apache instance.
As you can see from the below I have enabled Indexes so I am at a loss :-(
ServerTokens OS ServerRoot "/etc/httpd" PidFile run/httpd.pid Timeout 120 KeepAlive Off MaxKeepAliveRequests 100
i have a project from my boss to make radius server on fedora 13 i 686. can u tell the step by step how to build radius server on fedora 13???? thx u for sharing
I start to build up IMPS to my server. Any ideas where to start? Any experience so far. I this think yamicocom like service. And about 5 bugs to get in. What you think? I need to put some extra to this basic concept.
I need to build a 3 node web server cluster to run a php application. Since the app requires users to login (which means a session state is to be maintained), I will be sharing sessions save path, I also need to share the application directory across 3 nodes. I having trouble deciding which cluster file system to select.
I'm trying to build/install KDE 4.5.4, but I run into problems with the bindings package. Build fails with the following:
[Code]....
I'm building using the KDE slackbuild from sources dir, with the new KDE packages. edit: Well I decided to just take the risk of a not working KDE and commented out the bindings package. All other packages build fine. After this I crossed my fingers and rebooted, KDE loaded up. I gave the bindings package another go, and to my surprise it did build now. Got KDE up to date and it seems to be running fine.
I installed fedora10 on my system with live cd.I started httpd service.I also set static IP address, subnetmask and default gateway as my proxy server. It is only accessible through http://localhost at the same machine.but I need to access it through http://ipaddress/ on my other LAN machines which has window operating system.
I am using my athlon64 machine running Debian squeeze i386 to build some packages optimized for a K6-2 machine. I decided to start with libc6 since most packages depend on it.
I installed the build dependencies via
Code: apt-get build-dep eglibc
Then, as an unprivileged user, I downloaded the debianized source via
Code: apt-get source eglibc
I changed to the source directory and ran
Code: dpkg-buildpackage -rfakeroot -us -us About 6 hours later, the build failed: [URL]
All of which end with exit status 0. They are also about 1600 lines each so I haven't read them entirely. If someone can tell me which one/ones is/are relevant, I will post it/them to a pastebin.
I can not get gtkimageview-1.6.4 to build in current. It fails with a number of errors of type:
Code: gtkanimview.c: In function 'gtk_anim_view_get_type': /usr/include/glib-2.0/glib/gthread.h:339: error: dereferencing pointer 'value_location.1' does break strict-aliasing rules /usr/include/glib-2.0/glib/gthread.h:339: note: initialized from here
I've installed a server (CentOS5.2) - and I need a new(er) PHP, so, I get me one. This is what I did: - unzipped the bundle in the root's home - of course, I entered the folder - entered "./configure" - entered "make" - the compile didn't come back with errors - entered "make test" - there was a _possible_ fail... - entered "make install"
I noticed there's nothing in the /libs, where I'd expect a module (lib5php5.so) to exist. there is one, but it belongs to the older PHP. It's located in ets/httpd/modules (a link BTW - but I think that's normal). At the console I type: "which php" and get a path to PHP /usr/local/bin/php "php --version" and get 5.2.8 and some extra info in the server I entered "<?php phpinfo(); .>" in a PHP page, as I call that page, I get ... 5.1.6 as version.
Of course, I suspect Apache to have the OLD PHP in its config, (the old lib5php.so) and that I may have to overwrite the old one with the newly compiled one, if I had it. I ran a locate on the system, but no other lib5php.so files exist. Where did I loose track?

I have now blown Windows XP away completely and done a clean install into 80Gb hard disk (x86). I know that httpd is running and I've added the snippets to httpd.conf that output server status and server info to the web browser, so I can see that all the required PHP stuff is loaded. So something like http://localhost/server-info works fine but something like http://localhost/helloworld.htm produces the wrong output:
I moved from F12 to F14, I've installed using yum Apache, MySql, php, phpMyAdmin. That all works fine, I've made index.php with phpinfo() function and if it is in /var/www/html/ it opens in web browser. I extracted daloradius-0.9-8 in /var/www/hmtl/daloradius folder changed ownership to apache:apache set alias to myradius. When I point web browser to localhost/myradius I get error 403, forbidden. I moved index.php with phpinfo() to daloradius (overwriting old index.php) and same stuff happens. Error 403. What am I doing wrong?
Question is: How do I compile a package for little endian on big endian proceessors? Gpart is known to build on arm-el, ia64, i386, and amd64. I'm using gcc 4.3 and have versions 3.4, 4.1, 4.2. Build environment is debian lenny, powerpc.
I had an issue with the module build for vbox 3.1.2 breaking on the latest kernel ( /etc/rc.d/rc.vboxdrv setup ). Apparently the issue is that a kernel header (autoconf.h ) has changed its location in the module tree and hence the issue.
2 options:
1. upgrade to 3.1.4
2. create a symlink as follows
cd /usr/src/linux/include/linux ln -s ../generated/autoconf.h autoconf.h
having an absolute mare on this one and doin me in.! I'm trying to install apache on fedora 9 to a non default directory /usr/local/apache as i need to set it up with resin see[URL]... I've removed the default install with yum remove httpd and then tried installing using apache's ./configure make make install commands. This all appears to work ok but when trying to start the server i get command not found error.any suggestions **ps why are the apache files all over the place in fedora..
I have been struggling with this for the past two days and I can't seem to figure it out.SIMPLE GOAL: use subdomains with my wildcard Rapid SSL cert on Apahce2. This is not a chained certificate.Currently my default SSL virtual host, listening on 443 works fine. So, https://www.myDomain.com is recognized correctly by all browsers. But, the below virtual host listening on port 1025 is not coming across to the browser securely. The page renders, but the browsers do not see it as encrypted SSL.
