Nov 7, 2010I am trying to install amule in my fedora 14 I type this:
I have typed first:
1 rpm -ivh http://rpm.livna.org/livna-release.rpm // this step is OK
2 rpm --import /etc/pki/rpm-gpg/RPM-GPG-KEY-livna // I get error ( error: /etc/pki/rpm-gpg/RPM-GPG-KEY-livna: import read failed(0)..)
3 yum install amule

Can you give me a (sh) script to restart amule on exit (crash)?
This I ask you because amule crashes often on my system.
I already filed out a bug report at the amule website.

Feb 22, 2010I am trying to use aMule, under 64 bit Kubuntu on KK. I get a low ID. When I try the connectivity test it fails. I am advised to: 'Make sure your firewall or router is allowing/forwarding this TCP service port..I don't have any doubts about my router, since eMule works fine under Windows on my network.So I am persuaded to examine the firewall on my KK installation - except that I cannnot find it.
In addition, how do I find the definition for my network card to be sure it is set to the correct IP address to match my router settings?

Jul 31, 2010I've installed Ubuntu 10.04 lts lucid lynx and I've intalled Amule. In my windows partition I always use emule without problems. The connection is guaranteed by the open doors of my Pirelli Alice Gate Plus 2:TCP:8294 UDP:45266 My firewall is set for them and I ca use KAdemilia avoiding Server problems. I thought to do the same with Linux. Surprisingly, Amule connects well edk2 Servers but Kad reports this state: Active Disconnected. Probably my id is very low. I've tried to launch a popular query like "ubuntu" and i've waited more than an hour. No response. I've tried also to run a nodes.dat from various websites but without success. Kad remains disconnected. Why does emule works well with the same tcp-udp connection and amule doesn't work in the same way? Maybe amule supports only server connections? And if yes do you know a package for Lucid Lynx able to manage with kad?

I've turned down the settings to 0 or1 and reduced the bandwidth time etc. But to actually prevent? Also in windows there's all kinds of file splitters and joiners what is recommended in Ubuntu.

Dec 3, 2008I have been using Open SUSE 10.3 for about a year now and have been very pleased. I am now trying Open SUSE 11, it seems good, loads a lot faster than 10.3 and seems to run a little faster. I have had a few probs but they have been resolved with help from these forums. But I have a big prob remaining and I have no idea what could cause it. For no apparent reason I will lose the connection to the net.It happens mostly when running aMule, it can be downloading fine for some while when suddenly the connection to the servers is lost and it won't reconnect, and then also I can not connect to the net with Google etc. The only way to solve it seems to be to shut down, wait awhile then reboot. It will be OK for a while then the problem re-occurs. There does not seem to be a problem with anything else on the system. I know that the Modem is OK as I have three HDD - 1 running Win XP, 2 - running Open Suse 10.3. 3 - running Open Suse 11 & the prob only occurs with SUSE 11, I do not get this problem with either of the other HDD. I have tried three versions of aMule, with SUSE 11,the one given on YAST - v2.2.2-0, & others from Packman v2.2.1-0, & vSVN, the problem occurs with each version so I think it must lie with SUSE 11. I have opened ports 4662 & 4672 on the firewall, & the setup I use is identical to the one on 10.3 which works faultlessly. I use a NTL Modem connected to the PC via Ethernet.

Dec 23, 2010I recently upgraded from Fedora 13 to Fedora 14 and noticed something strange when I used Yum to install GNote and Inkscape. Yum installed the Fedora 14 version of the programs, but installed some dependencies that were actually from Fedora 12 and 13. The output below shows what packages were installed.

When I ran the yum command to list all of the packages for the dependencies in question, it only listed the version for Fedora 12 or 13. Is there something wrong with one of my repositories or do these Fedora 14 programs actually use packages from previous versions of Fedora?

I used the first way and everything seems to work fine. Compiz-fusion works good but i did have to add vga=795 to /boot/grub/grub.conf to get the graphical boot loader to work again. Should I have used the second method? What is the difference in these two ways? Most notably the second steps. Is one way better or preferred over the other? From my understanding you must do this because of the nouveau driver.

Jun 22, 2011I am compiling and installing the custom kernel based on the instructions provided in Building_a_custom_kernel on fedoraproject.org/wiki site.
However, according to the instructions, anytime I change anything in the kernel source files(e.g /driver/ata/libata-core.c), I have to create a patch a rebuild the whole kernel and install this new kernel which takes 2 hours. Is there a simpler way of recompiling what has changed(without creating patch) and try that changed kernel? Since my changes are not in the drivers which can be dynamically loaded but is in the static code of the kernel, it is making life cumbersome.Are there any instructions for this? How does other kernel developers manage this?

Jun 24, 2010I am completely new to linux and I want to install Fedora on my older PC. The PC is running 2.3 GHZ pentium 4 processor, 512mb Ram, and about 80GB free on the harddrive.
The PC is a Dell 8300 series and is already running Windows XP. I want to be able to dual boot Fedora and XP. I was following a tutorial but I cannot find the link anymore otherwise you would be able to view it and see if its a bad tutorial.
The tutorial had it so that I was downloading and creating and ISO Disk from here [url]. The next step was that I boot from the newly created disc by changing the setting in the BIOS. Then the tutorial instructed that I change the partition size for windows inside fedora after it boots. however I never got that far
When I booted off of the Fedora disk that I created the machine would get a message that said "Missing operating system"
I also tried booting from a flash drive but it did the same thing
It would be great if anyone could help me out, or point me to a better tutorial. Please take note that I am very green. I am not a programmer and I have limited skills on the computer. I just wanted to get my hands dirty by playing around in Fedora. So I may not understand all the Linux lingo yet.

1.First you system will ask you old mysql root password if you have installed mysql just now and not set password yet then you can enter anything or just press enter.
2. After that system will ask you twice for new password you can set a new password or you can keep it blank for no root password. I will suggest you to enter a password.
3.remove anonymous user? make it yes when you install mysql an automatic mysql user has created so remove it.
4. Disallow root login remotely. Hope you want to disallow mysql root login from remote for security of your mysql sever. If you want to use you can select no.
5. Remove test database. As anonymous user system generate and automatic database for testing.select yes to delete it.
6.Reload privileges: do yes to flush privileges.
Now you can login in your mysql server as root by this command

Oct 14, 2010Now I know there are loads of tutorials on the net, but I did have my share of tryings and failures and I have to ask for your help now. Please note that I am a complete Fedora novice.I am running a KDE Fedora 13 32 bit. I want to install JRE 6. I have the jre-6u22-i586-rpm.bin file. I checked several tutorials, each different to the other. Some of them point out that running the script file would be enough. Well not in my case.
I run the chmod a+x jre-6u22-i586-rpm.bin ./jre ..... I though this command only changes permission to access files, however I do read on some tutorials that the installation should start upon that command, that "Terms" page should appear to me... well none of this happens. No output at all. So I use the sh command. I do get asked about terms, accept and install. In the tutorial @ oracle, it says that this should be it. Well, not here.java -version just ouputs "Unknown command"I did even manually edit the etcprofile file and added
JAVA_HOME=/usr/java/jdk1.6.0_21
pathmunge $JAVA_HOME/jre/bin after
