Fedora Installation :: Get An Analogous Error Associated With Packages Trying To Install Flash Into FireFox

Sep 12, 2010

After a hiatus, I'm fussing with Fedora again. I'm using the 64 bit version of R13. A screen popped up saying I needed to apply fixes to the installion. The maintenance process fails, when tried several times.

FWIW, I get an analogous error associated with packages trying to install Flash into FireFox.

Is it possible that the package archive has been corrupted?

Fedora Installation :: Updating To KDE 4.2 In F10 - Error Downloading Packages

Feb 17, 2009

I got a problem while updating KDE from 4.1.2 to 4.2. In our college we can't download more than 20MB officially. So I'm unable to get kdegames which is 32MB from Konsole so I downlaoded it using proxy and I copied it into the /var/cache/yum/updates/packages/ folder and now using this command (yum groupinstall 'KDE (K Desktop Environment)').

I tried to update to KDE 4.2 using Konsole but it is showing:
Error Downloading Packages:

And even by double-clicking the KDEgames rpm file I'm unable to install it is saying GPG (I'm not sure GPG or not, start with G i think) Key missing so it is taking too much time and not doing anything.

Fedora :: Cryptic Error Message When Trying To Install Flash

Jul 9, 2010

I'm new to Fedora 13, although 10 years ago I fooled around a little with Red Hat 4.2 and Mandrake 7. I'm trying to install flash on my desktop. The install went as smooth as can be on my laptop, but the desktop isn't going well. First of all, My system is an AMD Phenom 9950 Quad Core in an Asus M4N78 PRO motherboard with 4 Gb of RAM, although Gnome reports it as 3.8 Gb. Video is Invidia GeForce 5500.

The Flash install goes ok until I enter the command:
"yum install flash-plugin nspluginwrapper.x86_64
nspluginwrapper.i686 alsa-plugins-pulseaudio.i686
libcurl.i686"

Once that command starts running it pops out this error message:
Error: Package: glibc-2.12-2.i686 (updates)
Requires: glibc-common = 2.12-2
Installed: glibc-common-2.12-3.x86_64 (@updates-testing)
Available: glibc-common-2.12-1.x86_64 (fedora)
Available: glibc-common-2.12-2.x86_64 (updates)
You could try using --skip-broken to work around the problem
You could try running: rpm -Va --nofiles --nodigest

I've tried the work arounds suggested by the error message and they didn't work. I tried downloading the missing file and it seems to not exist. I also tried this command:
yum downgrade glibc-common-2.12-3.x86_64

That generated this output:

Fedora Installation :: Set Up A Script - To Install Packages And Software

Oct 18, 2010

Basically what I want to do is switch from Ubuntu to Fedora as my base system. I normally do a minimal / CLI install of Ubuntu and then run my script to install packages and software I need.

Thing is, my script is made for Ubuntu and thus, I now have to make it compatible with Fedora. I already switched all the apt-get install commands with yum install but still I'm unsure whether the script is compatible.

Another thing is that I don't know if all these packages are in the Fedora repo's. So:

Would you check the script for any errors and/or packages that aren't in the Fedora repo's? (Lines that're commented out can be ignored)

I'm particularly insure about the yum install -y part and the yum dist-upgrade -y --force-yes part.
