I am doing something wrong. Just connected Fedora 14 to the internet. I wanted to do a speed test and this requires flash. I have download the linux (yum) version and tried to install adobe-release-i386-1.0-1.noarch.rpm no idea what is needed to be done next.
whenever i opened some site that require some flash player plugin to play some video etc.It shows download plug-in when i click on it , firefox can't find respective plugin and there is option for manual install.
In that case i have downloaded flash plug-in from adobe website and install it with package installer. But again showing same problem...means download plug-in .
FireFox told me to upgrade Adobe Flash Player when I tried to view YouTune's videos, but after I tried twice to download (open directly) it from Adobe, it still didn't work.
The first time I opened 'YUM for Linux', then I tried again the '.rpm for Linux' file, all installed automatically.
Tried installing flash player plugin, but Firefox says it can't install it. I installed manually, restarted firefox, but it still tells me I'm missing the plugin.
I failed to install flash-plugin on my firefox My firefox is installed on path "/home/<<user>>/firefox"
1) I tried to install flash plugin by rpm -Uvh flash-plugin-10.0.32.18-release-i386.rpm It is not working as the files are not installed on the folder /home/<<user>>/firefox/
2) yum install flash-plugin It returns "nothing to do"
3) I extracted and copied the files in the rpm to /home/<<user>>/firefox/flash-plugin then create a link by ln -s /home/<<user>>/firefox/flash-plugin/libflashplayer.so /home/<<user>>/firefox/plugins/libflashplayer.so When I open the firefox, it crashed.
I just installed F11KDE, and I am trying to get it to run Flash content in Firefox. I have been searching for solutions for well over an hour and have found nothing that works. How can I get my installation of the Firefox browser to play Flash content. How do I install it? I have tried
# yum install flashplug-in or something to that effect, as well other attempts of different varieties, i.e.-rpm, yumex. Nothing is working.
After a hiatus, I'm fussing with Fedora again. I'm using the 64 bit version of R13. A screen popped up saying I needed to apply fixes to the installion. The maintenance process fails, when tried several times.
FWIW, I get an analogous error associated with packages trying to install Flash into FireFox.
Is it possible that the package archive has been corrupted?
I just installed firefox and flash-plugin.The version of firefox is 3.0.10, package is firefox-3.0.10-1.el5.centos.The version of flash-plugin is 10.0.22.87, package is flash-plugin-10.0.22.87-1.el5.rf.But firefox crashes when there is flash in web page, unless disable flash plugin in firefox.
I just tried installing Google Earth on my fresh 64 bit Fedora 11 install using autoten, which I used earlier to install java and some codecs. I also used leighs guide to install 64 bit flash and remove nspluginwrapper. All was working fine. Then I decided to use autoten to install googleearth. It failed early giving an error saying:
First error was: resolving dnmouse.org... failed: Name or service not known. wget: unable to resolve host address `dnmouse.org' Error getting repository data for googleearth, repository not found # checking installation.. Size of report file is 0 lines
Error window opened up saying: Google earth, was not installed correctly, please check you have an active connection. From this point on, Firefox cannot access the internet. I can ping google.com and dnmouse.com successfully. I did the update that included the new firefox 3.5, so accessing the internet and my connection is active. Konversation is working correctly. Just firefox is having the problem. Message: Firefox can't find the server at start.fedoraproject.org, or google, or redhat etc. I renamed the .mozilla folder, and restarted firefox, no luck. My /etc/resolve.conf contains the correct nameservers. Also tried a reboot, no luck, still have active eth0 connection but no FF internet access.
I just installed Adobe Flash Player 10 and it says it's installed, when I go to firefox and Epiphany it still has flash player 9, Ive quited the browsers and everything Ive uninstalled/reinstalled still no luck.
for quite a while inside of our organization we've been editing /etc/sysconfig/iptables directly without much issues. However it was suggested to us that by doing so we risk losing all those rules whenever some package decides to use lokkit or "system-config-firewal*"Doing a bit of analysis I can't really find any trace of code that would prevent us from maintaining iptables just the way we were (as long as *we* don't use lokkit or system-config-firewall*) since "service iptables save" is a valid technique and uses iptables-save script which is part of iptables package and *not* part of system-config-firewall*
So we've got some evidence that may confirm our usage as valid, however it would be nice to know if indeed this is *not* a recommended way of maintaining iptables and we should reconsider how we approach it.
I want to install a new graphics card, Nvidia Geforce 9400 GT, into my system running Fedora 12, x86_64.
* Should I install the hardware into the system first? * Or should I download the proper drivers and install them first, before hardware? * Do I need to disable or remove drivers for my integrated graphics card (Integrated NVIDIA GeForce 6150 SE graphics) before I do anything?
What is the best way to install Firefox 5 (with flash) in Debian Testing ? I'm asking this because, until now, I've used Mint Debian, and now when I switched to Debian, there isn't a firefox 5 package in debian repositories, and I'm used to installing software through Synaptic only
I just switched back to Ubuntu a few days ago for the first time in about a year or so. Running 8.04 (Hardy), because it was the disk I had around. Don't want to bother upgrading to the newest version just yet, as I have a good deal of homework I want to get done.
Anyways, I seem to have encountered an issue of not being able to run Flash in Firefox. For example, when I go to a ..... video, it tells me i need to install the plugin. So i've gone to the Flash website, downloaded the appropriate .deb file, and installed that. No change.
So I go back to a page that uses Flash, and click on the "Install Missing Plugins" button that appears. The popup says "Press next to install these plugins", but lists no plugins, and nothing gets installed.
OS: Ubuntu 10.04 64 bit I tried to watch a video on Firefox through hulu.com and kept getting unresponsive script error upon the website showing up. On other occasions some websites would open up very slowly. So I went ahead and started looking up the problem on google, and found two areas where this may occur:
1.Google search toolbar or add-on in firefox which I cannot find how in the world to disable since it seems to come inside the firefox package (I tried edit-preferences-addon- its not listed). 2.Adobe Flash Player: I disabled it and the websites are no longer slow, but now I cannot watch the video on hulu.com which is the main reason why I opened firefox. So I went ahead and installed Adobe Flash again, but it doesn't seem to want to work. Gnash and the other program (I forgot the name) install properly on Firefox but Adobe Flash Player keeps giving me errors. This is one of them when I tried downloading and installing it from terminal:
Code: Flash Plugin installed. nspluginwrapper: no appropriate viewer found for /usr/lib/flashplugin-installer/libflashplayer.so dpkg: error processing flashplugin-installer (--configure): subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1 dpkg: dependency problems prevent configuration of flashplugin-nonfree: flashplugin-nonfree depends on flashplugin-installer; however:
[Code]...
Honestly I wish all the websites would make their flash videos more compatible with other program, but for time being the Flash Monopoly still continues. Anyways, any solution or possible work-around?
By the way, as some of you may know Adobe Flash player doesn't support Google chrome for Linux (chromium). I would really hate to have to switch to my Vista Hard Drive just to see a video on Firefox.
I am using RHEL4.4 ES with mozilla firefox 1.5.0.3. I am unable to load flash player. The instruction says locate the installation directory of mozilla. That I am unable to find. There is no such directory as /usr/lib/mozilla<version no> in my system. But /usr/lib/firefox<version no> directory is present. I tried by copying the lib.so file in the plugin directory of firefox, but it is not working. Please can some body guide me which version of flash player I should install and hoe to install.
I know this sounds a bit very basic but how do I install flashplayer on firefox , my issue is when I go to [URL] i get the following message "Hello, either you have JavaScript turned off or an old version of Adobe's Flash Player. Get the latest Flash player." so I follow the link it downloads flash player and even install it but nothing seems to work in ..... or flash site .
I tried installed the flash-plugin with yum, and it looks like it installed successfully, but hitting a website like ..... still prompts me for the adobe firefox plugin.
[root@localhost greenwich]# yum --enablerepo=rmpforge install flash-plugin Loaded plugins: fastestmirror, priorities Error getting repository data for rmpforge, repository not found [root@localhost greenwich]# yum --enablerepo=rpmforge install flash-plugin Loaded plugins: fastestmirror, priorities
i have mandriva, and i can download progams such as the newest version of mandriva, the latest version of firefox, the latest version of flash player or acrobat. but when i try to open and run them i can't. it's to the point where videos no longer supports my old browser or flash player, and it's to the point where i can't load myspace because it tells me i need a new browser, so i download it, but it doesn't do anything.
how to update these packages easily? I am concerned about the security using version 3.0 major security issues. Also, where can we get security updates for Centos 5.4?
Can I install 3.6.6 on Fedora 13? I want it because Firefox 3.6.4's Flash crashes too much, and I would just love to run the latest version. How do I get it ?
Firefox's Plugin Finder Service says that it is an unknown plugin when visiting pages. I have tried the manual install using rpm and yum along with trying to uninstall and reinstall via Add/Remove Software. When looking at Extensions within Add ons, Flash is not shown on the list.
I just installed F11 and am trying to get flash to work in firefox. I installed the adobe repository and ran: yum install flash-plugin The install completed but when I try to run flash in firefox it says that flash isn't installed. How can I fix this?
Fedora 11, 32-bit, updated daily manually via yum (console). Today got the Firefox update to 3.5.4. After restarting Firefox, the fist page reads: "You should update Adobe Flash Player right now." The link leads to Adobe site, which offers me Flash Player version 10.0.32.18. All is fine so far, excluding the fact that I already have this player:
I have never had a problem with flash plugin before. Just recently I decided to try gnash to see if it plays flash videos better then flash plugin (it doesn't). So I updated flash plugin from the 10.0 r32 version to the 10.0 r42 version and went under Tools > Add-ons > Plugins in Firefox and disabled the gnash plugin and re-enabled the flash plugin and now flash does not work any more. I've tryed uninstalling gnash, reinstalling flash plugin, reinstalling Firefox. Flash just will not work. Flash works in Google Chrome or if I run Firefox as root. I have Fedora 12 32bit
I disabled the new version of flash plugin (10.0 r42) and re-enabled the old version (10.0 r32) and now flash works. I dont understand the new version of flash plugin works but only in Google Chrome or if I run Firefox as root?! Also Firefox (as my user) shows both versions of flash plugin 10.0 r32 and 10.0 r42 Firefox as root and Google Chrome only show the new version.
Here's how to install latest Firefox on a 64 bit system (leaving your old firefox install untouched):
1. Get the latest Firefox tarball (64 bit) from ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/ and save it to whereever you like.
2. Make a new directory in /usr/lib64 and untar it there
Code:
3. We want to create a new user profile for Firefox 4. So start Firefox 4 profilemanager and create one.
Code:
Name the new profile whatever you like, I created a new profile named FF4b for example. Also before quitting make sure you click on the "default" profile so that you don't mess up your existing Firefox install.
4. You can now start Firefox 4 with the new profile:
5. If not already installed download flash player square plugin (64 bit) from [url]
Code:
Now you need to go to your .mozilla folder in your home directory and create a symlink for the flash plugin.
Code:
Now look for a folder which is associated with the firefox profile you created earlier. The folder name should end with the name you created it with. Mine was cay67zed.FF4b for example. Cd to that directory:
Code:
Make a plugins directory and put the symlink there:
Code:
If you want, you can create a launcher for Firefox 4 on your desktop or taskbar with the following command option:
I've been struggling with Firefox and Flash for a while now and I'm finding that Firefox 4 has pretty well broken. No flash content is working in it at all but it seems pretty difficult to locate to remove and reinstall. I think I installed Firefox 4 from the Mozilla website originally. Most stuff works in Opera but I've been firefox for a long time so reluctant to change. I've searched for forums for similar problems but can't seem to see anything. I've uninstalled and reinstalled firefox 3.5 but that's not fixing the issue.
I have upgraded from Fedora 14 to 15 (both 64 bit) today.
In F14, I had no problems watching flash movies.
After the upgrade, this fails. I have been through [URL] but still no luck.
Yes, I have ndiswrapper installed. Flash is the 32 bit version (64 bit version is still a bit scary to me, it being beta with known bugs). I can see the plugin in firefox. I have NO gnash installed.
I want to install flash player plugin for my Mozilla firefox in terminal, so that I can watch video, what kind of command that I must type in terminal?
