I have managed to work out how to install my NVidia video card driver. I'm just about to tackle getting the
microphone aspect of my sound card in my laptop going. If that goes alright I'd like to install the Wacom drivers for my Cintiq 21ux.
I have sound coming out of my sound card, I just need to put some sound through it (for skype conferences)
Do you where I'd be able to find the right drivers or links to tutoials about or similarto my HP Pavilion dv5 1006tx?It's mainly the sound card and Wacom Cintiq 21ux I'm worried about.
I have a video card. But I cannnot install nvidia driver because of some errors.

I am try to install the nvidia 96.43.16 driver for a Gforce 2 MX-400 video card following this [URL].. When I ran the 'rpm -e --nodeps xorg-x11-Mesa-libGL' command the the package wasn't installed.
When I ran modprobe nvidia it wasn't found either.
I use a debian testing, I can't drive graphics card，open source driving performance is not good, so you need to closed source drive, model is nvidia 7300 gt, how to drive the video card?
i just instaled bt4 on my hdd and i have a problem with instaling drivers... i cant find and install driver for my video card nvidia 8200 integrated on motherboard. exacly i got the problem with changeing video resolution... i have only 640x480 and 800x600, and here is the problem, i cant put it in 1024x768..
Under Fedora 12, I have installed the proprietary NVIDIA graphics driver successfully and am now attempting to use the onboard HDMI output. (The board has HDMI and VGA out built in.) I am getting a clear picture on the TV screen, although the edge of the screen output hangs off all edges of the physical screen. The HDMI audio output is being detected, but no sound come out of the TV when I switch the sound output from the Analog Sterio Duplex to HDMI Output in the Sound Preferences. Any suggestions, and what further information is required?
The nouveau driver coming with the free fedora does not even allow to run Gnome 3, so I'd like to install the Nvidia driver. So far I did not succeed as the nouveau kernel module is loaded at an early stage. How can I remove the nouveau driver?

I can't figure out how to install the nvidia drivers for my nvidia 8800 GT video card. I've followed some other posts and all the posts seemed either incomplete, or led me down a path of which eventually broke my installation, that I needed to reinstall the entire ubuntu system.Again, it may not have been broken, i just didnt know how to get back in to the gui version of ubuntu, the instructions took me to the console terminal

Only about 1.5 weeks into Linux guys so bear with me. I'm trying to uninstall the Nouveau driver and install NVIDIA-Linux-x86-71.86.14-pkg1.run for my old Nvidia TNT2 card. Following these directions I run into a problem in the first step. When I execute the Ctrl+Alt+F1 command and get:

I am attempting to make a video machine only... which mean I have a Compaq 6435cl and I have installed the latest verion of ubuntu on it. All I want this machine to do is play video from off the net on my LCD HD TV. The video on board was all choppy when going into full screen mode so I put in a 3dfx Voodoo card and the same thing happens. I cannot figure out how to install the drivers for this card in ubuntu so I was wondering if I should by a new video card. Do you have a recomended video card for ubuntu that would push HD video?

I am running fedora 11 64bit version and just installed cedega to run a few games. I have Nvidia Geforce 9800M GTS 1GB graphics card. and installed my graphics drivers via: yum install kmod nvidia. i downloaded and installed the cedega application from the Cedega download
I just got done installing Ubuntu on a new harddrive and set it up to dual boot with grub loader. However, when I boot into Ubuntu, the screen goes black. I can however login (blind) by hitting enter and typing password. The login sound goes and it logs in, however, the screen stays black. I am running a NVIDIA Quadro NVS 295 Video Card.

NOTICE: Some very old nVidia Video Cards from more than 9 years ago might not work with this way, but just try this method because you'll see if there's a driver available for your video card in Fedora or not.
I have been noticing that it was hard to set up my own NVidia video card, and alot of other people shared the same problem as I had. I have been experimenting with some things, and here's what I did to solve it.
It's fairly easy, anyone can do this. Read and follow these instructions:
Install all updates. Although it seems unimportant, it really is.
Go to [url] and follow the instructions to install the free and nonfree repositories
Go to System > Administration > Add/Remove Software
Search the following: nv
Click everything which has to do with NVidia. Do not check the checkboxes yet, but read the descriptions. If you've found your video card in the description, check the checkbox at the left of the title.
Install the drivers by clicking "Apply" at the bottom of your screen.
After installing, go to Applications > System Tools > nVidia Display Settings
Set the properties of your video card, such as TwinView or higher screen resolutions.
After you've set it up, click Apply to preview your settings. Change some settings if you like, and then click Apply when you're done. DO NOT EXIT YET!
Click "Save to X Confguration File, but do NOT save the file. Click "Show preview..." and copy the text in the preview.
Go to Applications > System Tools > Terminal and type "su". Press Enter and enter the root password.
Now type:

Select all of the text in the document and delete it. Then, paste the text of the "Save X Configuration" window into the text editor.
Exit out of the terminal.
Exit out of the nVidia Display Settings application. Do not save anything from this application.
Log out and log back in to see the changes.
If you want to change some settings, repeat steps 7 - 16.
Using the video card Nvidia 7800GT on an AMD4200, MB T6100, I am unable to install from the iso, as progression is halted by a video mode that is unviewable. (black and white rows). I can get to the "f6" menu, however once I attempt an install it fails. My main goal is to install Mythbuntu, however the problem seems to be with the Unbuntu install drivers.This post worked to get around this on version 6.10, however these instructions no longer work. http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=379807
Is there any way to use the newest Nvidia drivers that should work from a new install CD? I do not see a command line option, which would seem to allow me to install and update and setup the distro, THEN add my drivers before I run xconf.
I have spent ages looking at similar problems but not not quite the same. I have installed 11.4/Gnome (x86) and wanted to use my GT430 card. I went here: 'http://en.opensuse.org/SDB:NVIDIA_drivers' and used the 'one click' install for current cards. All went ok until I rebooted and I got a 'gdm[1239]: WARNING: GdmDisplay: display lasted 0.846578 seconds' message. I got five of these in succession until the 'gdm[1239]: WARNING: GdmLocalDisplayFactory: maximum number of X display failures reached: check X server log for errors' appeared and it popped me down to an init 3 login.
So, I deleted the blacklisting conf file so that I could get back in to Gnome on Nouveau (which I did ok). I then noticed there was no /etc/X11 Xorg.conf file so I ran /usr/lib/nvidia-xconfig to generate one (which it did) - but it made no difference. I am at a loss know after spending 8 hours on this. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated. My machine is still at fresh install state so even if I have to reinstall 11.4 it does not matter.

I have a Geforce 9300 GS installed in my machine I am using 64 bit Gnome with a 64 bit system I downloaded this: Now my video won't show any effects and the Nvidia card won't work? This doesn't make any sense. Frustration to the max. I should have stayed with Fedora 10 at least it worked with downloadable drivers.
