I found few links, saying that this is a Xen problem but I have no Xen.

Ok, I just upgraded from Slackware 13.0 to Slackware-current and now when I run modprobe ndiswrapper I get the following error.FATAL: Module ndiswrapper not found.Im not sure what happened on this. I did a search in google and couldn't find anything useful any help would be appreciated.
I want to activate cpu frequency scaling on my home computer. I have an athlon 64 3200+. I know that it supports frequency scaling, because when I got the processor I also got a CD with the Cool n'Quiet driver. I've tried with the powernowd service, but when I try to start it I get Code: * Starting powernowd... * CPU frequency scaling not supported...
and if I try to start cpufreqd I get Code: No cpufreq interface found, not starting cpufreqd In the meanwhile I've noticed that I also don't have powernow-k7 kernel module installed. If I try a modprobe powernow-k7 I get: Code: FATAL: Module powernow_k7 not found I have no ideea where I can get this kernel module.
I am using openSuSE 11.2 on a VGN-AR41L. I have also erased the preinstalled Home Vista (what a pleasure). Now to my problem. My system boots correctly but if I press the <ESC> key while booting I can see the following messages:
"Doing fast boot FATAL: mbcache module not found FATAL: ahci module not found " and the boot process continues normally.
Why this happens? Does this mean that I have a problem that I haven't discovered yet? Is it something that I can ignore? I am using SUSE Linux from version SUSE Linux 8 personal and although I am not a power user I have done my two desertions on this system and I am very happy with SUSE. I have bought SUSE Linux 8 Personal and SUSE Linux 10 all the other versions until today have been downloaded.
Boot up with 2.6.32 kernel. Get to login screen, X attempts to start and fails. I log in, execute startx and succeed. Yesterday, could not boot up at all with .30 kernel. Upgraded to .32, so partially fixed. Yesterday also un-installed Synaptics package, as do not have touch-pad on this machine (Thinkpad X40)

I've updated my openSUSE 11.1 to 11.2 using installation DVD. After that, as system boots, I started to get lines like:
Code: FATAL: Module jbd not found FATAL: Module mbcache not found FATAL: Module ext3 not found and so on with different modules.. and this exact string several times:
Code: WARNING: All config file need .conf: /etc/modprobe.d/tv, it will be ignored in a future release. Finally I get:
I downloaded the new Catalyst Package from ATI [URL] and I don't know what happened. Installed fine restarted. It starts loading fine then screen flickers like crazy Gnome Desktop won't load. while booting with bootsplash turned off there's a message "FATAL: Module ata_piix not found FATAL: Error running install command for ata_piix" .Though everything works fine i'd like to know what does this message mean and is there a way to disable loading of ata_piix whatever it means.
I am trying to install a Sunix 4018T dual parallel port card on a pc with Mandriva Linux 2010.1: Dealer told me that linux has driver for this card already so I inserted it and turned on my pc. Unfortunately when I try to install my Okidata ML320, cups it's not showing any parallel ports. I try to update all the system with last patches and packages :I tested the card on a pc with windows xp, installed my printer and it works perfectly.
I must say, the RPMfusion version of the Nvdia driver package work better with FC10 than they did under FC9 for me, which is to say: they work at all. Still get corrupted output after a few hours of work, but I imagine that's just the underlying weakness of the Nvidia driver bubbling up. Either way, now I have other problems:
First off, the Intel driver for my onboard video setup has stopped working entirely. The attempt to bring up X on the Intel setup gets me to the KDE login screen and locks the machine up hard (poweroff required). A look at the xorg.0.log shows that the server seems to be stuck in a loop trying to determine the valid video properties for the session.
Here's my xorg.conf, BTW. I have it setup to perform different configurations depending on which DefaultServerLayout line gets uncommented (lines 4 - 6). If anybody has a better way of doing this, I'm all ears. While we're on my xorg.conf, pleas view lines 64-67 and/or 75-77. This is my quickie way of changing drivers (again, all ears) which brings us to the next problem, neither the nv or nouveau drivers work with my system. Interestingly enough, both drivers tend to fail in the same relative spot in the process, I think. Please refer to line 207 of this xorg.0.log with the nv driver or line 140 of this xorg.0.log from the nouveau setup. Either way, both sessions die with the same message: (EE) Screen(s) found, but none have a usable configuration. Fatal server error: no screens found Gotta go, x session getting corrupt,,,
I'm trying to configure ndiswrapper but when I run Code: modprobe ndiswrapper it says Code: FATAL: Module ndiswrapper not found. I know it needs usbcore so I run Code: modinfo usbcoremodinfo: could not find module usbcore So How should I get usbcore working?
I have a problem with loading the powersaving kernel module p4-clockmod.ko. When I try inserting the module (via modprobe or insmod) I get FATAL: Error inserting p4_clockmod (/lib/modules/2.6.31.8-mediaserver/extra/p4-clockmod.ko): Invalid module format The module has been compiled together with the kernel. Other modules load with no problem at all. I've tried recompiling the kernel (after re-installing the sources, make xconfig from scratch) - no avail. There's only one kernel source package installed. Searching the forum and google didn't yield a helping answer.
I installed fedora 14 on my Dell studio xps 1645 with CPU intel i7 core inside.
I downloaded the microcode.dat file from the intel website to update the revision of the CPU.
I tried to put it in /etc/ but no update was done. also in /etc/firmware (after creating the latter directory), and no update was done. also in /lib/firmware (after renaming the current microcode.dat file) and no update was done.
Both F15 KDE Live CD and DVD new installs fail on HP 2133 mini notebook. The device has previously accepted F12 installation without a problem. The HP 2133 has a VIA C7 processor. Is this CPU is no longer compatible with Fedora? The syslog repeats endlessly 'microcode: no support for this CPU vendor'. The Live CD will not even begin the install to diskl. The DVD will install but will fail on reboot with the microcode error. How to overcome this installation problem?. Is there a kernel upgrade or microcode update that has already resolved this and how can it be installed?
Ever since the kernel update to 2.6.34.6-47.fc13.x86_64, my boot process hangs at about startx time. I boot cleanly at runlevel 3 in either this or the previous 2.6.33.8 kernel. If I execute startx from here (in either kernel), the system hangs at the same place. During the early troubleshooting, I read in another thread (250929) about installing xorg-x11-drv-catalyst, which I did using yum. This led to the failure of the 2.6.33 kernel; yum remove did not fix this. I have carefully followed the instructions in the fglrx HOWTO (updated a week ago by Hlingler) as they relate to a PAE kernel (including reinstalling mesa-libGL), and that fixed earlier difficulties. Hence, I felt I needed a new thread.
dmesg tells me Code: microcode: CPU0: patch_level=0x2000032 platform microcode: firmware: requesting amd-ucode/microcode_amd.bin Linux video capture interface: v2.00 piix4_smbus 0000:00:14.0: SMBus Host Controller at 0xb00, revision 0 microcode: CPU1: patch_level=0x2000032 platform microcode: firmware: requesting amd-ucode/microcode_amd.bin microcode: Microcode Update Driver: v2.00 .....
But the program itself reports Code: # microcode_ctl -h This program is for updating the microcode on Intel processors belonging to the IA32 family - PentiumPro upwards (x86-64 included). It depends on the Linux kernel driver. The website urbanmyth.org/microcode (mentioned by yum info microcode_ctl) clearly indicates that Intel has taken over this microcodecode distribution, and suggests that it is no longer valid for AMD processors.
I found a reference to a kernel configuration flag CONFIG_MICROCODE_AMD (as a plausible subsititute for CONFIG_MICROCODE_INTEL) that possibly belongs in a script in /etc/init.d - but the above context leads me to suspect this is not true any more. In any event, those flags are not mentioned anywhere in my init.d scripts - in fact nowhere in the entire /etc tree. My microcode file exists, and is dated March 23. How do I get it installed? Or is this completely unrelated to my hanging boot problem, as suggested by the "platform microcode" line in the dmesg output? If so, where should I be looking?

I just installed Maverick on a brand new system last Saturday. Everything worked, except dual monitors, so I activated the proprietary ATI/AMD driver. That allowed the dual monitors to work, except that it put a little "AMD unsupported hardware" watermark in the lower right-hand side of each screen. After a day or two, I decided to go back to the default driver while trying to figure out how to avoid the watermark.
I assumed that when I deactivated/removed the proprietary driver that it would automatically switch back to the default. Instead, my computer now boots to TTY1, and when I try to install xserver.xorg, etc., I get a lot of error messages, ike "No screens found" or "Screens found, but configuration is unusable," etc. The same messages show up in the logs. Can anyone help me get back to a useable desktop display? At this point, I don't care which one. erhaps the proprietary would be easiest since it seems to be holding my system hostage, but either one would work.
Ubuntu 10.10 Whenever I try to boot up now I get a command line environment instead of the normal gnome desktop. The first error message that comes up is: "Screens found, but none have a usable configuration" further down: "Fatal server error: no screens found" Any way I can re-configure so it detects my monitor?
I recently updated my fc12. before the update all was well but now it takes very long to boot. when i checked the text output by pressing F3 it stops at "Applying Intel CPU microcode update".
I've installed 9.10 on a work station with success. I've got an nvidia quadro fx 3000 and its supported under nvidia legacy driver apparently. So I've tried to install the driver with no success. Xorg.0.log reports a fatal server error no screens found. I get a flashing console login when I boot with "nvidia" device driver in xorg.conf, it boots fine with "nv". No matter what I try I cant get it to boot with nvidia drivers. Also, on a side note, after initially installing nvidia driver thru hardware in gnome, I no longer have a grub loader option to select recovery or anything else. Upon boot it displays "grub" briefly then continues to boot to gui. I've set the delay to 20 seconds with no results.
Resolved the issue of the display, now on to the grub menu.
