Fedora :: Error Saving The Document <filename>: Write Error. The File Could Not Be Written

I open an ODS file and edit it and save, fine. But sometimes and for no readily apparent reason it refuses to save the document with the error message:"Error saving the document <filename>: Write error. The file could not be written". I have upgraded my version of OpenOffice but the issue remains. Once it starts with that error the only way to save the file is to actually abandon my change and restart OOffice. Today I lost an hours stuff as the auto save was also failing but not giving me any warning it was failing. I'm not sure if this is an OpenOffice, file system, Fedora or permissions issue though I've not noticed anything similar with other applications. Have set permissions to 777 but still get the error.
I got an error while working with NetworkManager in new RHEL6/ Fedora14. I have a ZTE AC 2726 3G wireless modem. i had tried to connect it via NetworkManager . It only requires username and password to connect but the thing is that after putting all the credentials i had checked the option" available to all the user "and while i was trying to save the profile it shows the following error saving connection failed 0 can't write connection type 'cdma'I had google so many times around this error but no better solution is there .
trying to write my thesis in Lyx 1.6. It works fine on my windows laptop at home but Not on my work computer. The problem is, when i try to view it in pdflatex it comes with with: Lyx: file name error The directory path to the document cannot contain spaces
I get the following error when I try to boot vista thru grub. This is what I did, Got a new Hard drive installed it. Configured the bios to look at the new hard drive first. after installing vista on the new hard drive I switched the boot order and added the lines for vista(last 3 lines) in /boot/grub/grub.conf. I get the following the following error.I have to change the bios everytime i have to boot vista.

I have some files and directories (some mixed case, and some all uppercase) that I have copied on a FAT32 USB stick, and when I load this on FC11 all the files and directories that have/are less then 8 characters (ie that fit into the 8.3 format) all go to lowercase.
I receive these messages after I enter my user_id and password in Ubuntu 9.04;

I have just installed a Canon Pixma iP2200 on Fedora 14. The installation 'seemed' to go OK but whenever I try to print anything I get the following error:
"There was an error during the CUPS operation: 'client-error-document-format-not-supported'."
I have done a bit of searching and the only advice i could find is to uncomment some lines in /etc/cups/mime.convs and /etc/cups/mime.types but I don't have either of those files!
Request help with scanjet 3500c operation. xSane .996 in Ubuntu sees scanjet and scans. As soon as scan completes, the xSane windows(2) disappears and there are no copies in the intended save folder in Documents. Upon original attempt, the xsane windows had an additional third "Preview" window which has not returned since that first scan attempt?
One is not a computer guru by any imagination!
Info; the scanjet worked very well on the other "doze OS" and seems now, does not in the Ubuntu OS. In Doze, there was also a program for a HP PhotoSmart 3200 running and when I added the scanjet it might have been happy with that driver. Currently I do not have access to the driver disc for the 3200 with me. Too, it now takes ~45+ seconds for the scanjet to begin as compared to 2 - 3 seconds on doze.
Some internet self help searching seems to suggest the xSane 1.0.18 is the driver choice to use with the HP 3500c scanjet. When attempting to download, an archive "Failed" notice appears. I am a bit lost from here.
A neighbor of mine just got a Canon Pixma MP450 printer, to replace an old HP printer, and I am trying to get it to work with Fedora 11 installation from a machine they have borrowed from me. The printer gets recognized upon plugging it in but when I try to print a test page from the printer properties I receive the following error:'client-error-document-format-not-supported'
The driver that is selected for the printer is "Generic Driver" I have tried to select a driver but have not found any Canon drivers from the selection dialog box. After searching the web I see mention of a Canon MP150 driver working for the MP450 but I have not found this driver. Is there a driver I have to install from YUM or download from Canon? Are there others successfully using this printer and if so what have they done to get it to work?

I recently Installed Matlab and it keeps giving me this permission error, even after running the following command.

i finally decided to updgrade from Hardy Heron to Lucid Lynx. for this i made a backup of my old install, then i couldnt find my Lucid CD so i used a Karmic one to partition my old ext3 to ext4. There were some errors but after trying a few times it worked. Installed Karmic, rebooted (worked fine), downloaded all updates - (did NOT reboot to let updates take effect) and upgraded to Lucid.
Everything went fine so far. Now when i try to boot into Lucid the system hangs, i've also got a windowsXP partition on there so i tried booting that, first grub tells me Error 29: Disk write error then trying again windows seems to boot but it takes much longer than it should and seems to hang.
Then i tried Karmic and Lucid LiveCD (which i found in the meantime) none of the LiveCDs make it to boot after about 20 minutes. (previously they worked fine)looking at the errors it seems to be something about the harddrive. Why the harddrive would stop the LiveCD booting is a mystery to me but the same messages appear when i select Recovery from the Grub menu so i guess the problem is related.
I have installed opensuse 11.3 64 bit. For many years was able to connect to a file server within our domain via konqueror in all previous versions of opensuse using: smb://user@server.ip.adress/userdata/user_name/ This would ask me a password and then I would be able to move, read, create and delete files. I never configured samba on the linux client because this method always worked. However very recently (I suspect since I installed 11.3) I am facing a problem I cannot resolve. I can still log in, browse the remote folder, read files, create new ones (for example a txt file), delete them, but I cannot copy into that remote folder files larger than about 20KB (I try copying or moving files by dragging them from my desktop into the konqueror window that shows the remote folder contents).
Small files are OK, but for files are larger than ~20KB there is an error saying: Could not write to file smb://{path_to_my_file_in_the_remote_folder}. Strangely, the file is nevertheless created in the remote folder, but with a fixed length size of 32KiB.
For example, I want to install a texteditor called Editra, i done it like the following
First, I install the Editra sudo apt-get install Editra - success ,its version is 0.5.30
Second, I run it in Terminal Editra - it can work,but with the error infos "(python:1682): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_widget_add_accelerator: assertion `GTK_IS_WIDGET (widget)' failed"
Third, I used command line "dpkg -L Editra", and found that the Editra is installed under /usr/share/pyshared/Editra,so i created the .desktop like this sudo gedit /usr/share/applications/Editra.desktop
It showed, and I clicked it for running, but it told me error infos Could not launch 'Editra' Failed to execute child process "/usr/share/pyshared/Editra" (Permission denied) Not just Editra, so many software that written in python have the same question, such as tortoisehg...
I wish to know what could be the possible cases for this error:cp: reading `filename': Input/output errorI am getting this message when I am trying to copy a big file of around 50MB.
I keep all my documents on one hard drive of a wire network, on a Windows XP computer. To access a document to my Ubuntu 11.04 machine, I can't open LibreOffice and access it from there. I have to click on the doc in the file manager; then LibreOffice opens with it. Likewise, when I try to save to the net I get an in/out error message. I have to save to the desktop and then move the doc from the desktop to the XP machine.I'm sure I'm missing some procedure. Can someone tell me what it is?
I have OpenOffice 3.2 installed on Ubuntu 10.04 but it is so slow when opening any document and when saving documents that I would like to go back to an older version of OO. There was never any trouble with older versions of OO.
I recently upgraded my file/media server to Fedora 11. After doing so, I can no longer copy large files to the server. The files begin to transfer, but typically after about 1gb of the file has transferred, the transfer stalls and ultimately fails with the message:
"Error writing to file: Input/output error"
I've run out of ideas as to what could cause this problem. I have tried the following:
1. Different NFS versions: NFS3 and NFS4 2. Tried copying the files to different physical drives on the server. 3. Tried copying the files from different physical drives on the client. 4. Tried different rsize and wsize block sizes when mounting the NFS share 5. Tried copying the files via a different protocol. SSH in this case. The file transfers are always successful when I use SSH.
Regardless of what I do, the result is the same. The file transfers always fail after approximately 1gb.
Some other notes.
1. Both the client and the server are running Fedora 11 kernel 2.6.29.5-191.fc11.x86_64
I am out of ideas. Has anyone else experienced something similar?
I have installed Ubuntu 10.4 at my laptop (lenovo G530) which includes OpenOffice 3.2 (Oracle). The problem is that I turned the laptop off without saving a document in Openoffice.Now every time I open OpenOffice it comes the OpenOffice Document Recovery and asks me to Press "Start Recovery". The dialog window is too large and I can't move it beyond the top of the screen to find the "Start Recovery" button. It goes until the top of the screen and that 's it!Also I can't resize it to a small one.I have tried to "move" it but it doesn't work.I have autohidden the upper and down bars but nothing!The window is too big to find the "Press button". How can i make the window going upper the screen?
Starting Yast and then config. repos. gives this error: There were errors while restoring the repository configuration. Error refreshing service Packman Repo (http://packman.inode.at/suse/11.3/packman.repo):Parse error: repoindex.xml[1] Document is empty
If I continue my repo list and software management both come up okay and function as they should (nothing noted yet anyway). Is this just something that glitched when adding the Packman repo and the file repoindex.xml[1] should be deleted?
I am in the process of migrating my old server into new Linux new server. As part of the , apache configuraton is one of the process . i have installed http with yum. i added some test dir like /date/test underwhich i created one test.html. When i start apache , it says Starting httpd: Warning: DocumentRoot [/data/test] does not exist.i am not sure about it. I have directory exists. however it shows the error message.
I've had apache installed for a couple of years with no problem but this morning I thought I would change the apache document root to my secondary disk so that my WAMP setup in my Windows partition and LAMP could share the same files. I've edited the etc/apache2/sites-available file to point it to the new location of my document root but I am getting a 403 - forbidden "You don't have permission to access / on this server." error when I try to load files through the browser. I'm not sure if this is a permissions issue or the way I've edited the sites-available config.

i decided to try archlinux in my pc a while ago so i installed it... after three months i started to miss slackware so i decided to reinstall it but i wanted to save my /home partition so when i installed slackware i left my /home partition from arch hoping that i could just mount it on slackware...but now when i try to mount that /home partition this is what i get:

So i dont really know what is going on here but i hope somebody could help me because i really NEED to get the data from that partition.
oh and by the way i installed slackware on ext4 partitions and the /home partition from arch is ext3 so i dont know if that's maybe the problem o_O?
I wanted to save a python program because I am reading byte of python and I went to save in !/usr/bin. When I try to save in this folder I get this error "[Errno 13] Permission denied: 'usr/bin/helloworld.py'.
I use the show-leaves yum plugin, and sometimes I use that info to remove some unnecessary packages. But that list can be long, so I write them on a text file.
1) Instead of removing packages one by one is there a way to remove all packages written in that text file?
2) Why isn't the output of the show-leaves plugin compatible with the output of "package-cleanup --leaves"?
I use a SLES-machine (should be similar to opensuse I guess) and ad AIX-machine and got the following error:
