The title says it all, how do I enable Spamassassin for Evolution??

I've been running the Evolution mail system under Fedora-15/KDE for about a month now, and it has some very serious problems. I just noticed that it is available for SUSE, and figured that since KDE is the principal desktop supported by KDE the SUSE version may be fixed. Before I go through the very tedious process of getting the SUSE version to compile on Fedora, I'd like to know whether anyone has seen these problems with the SUSE version of Evolution:It ignores font control from the KDE Settings->Applications Appearance window, both KDE font control and GTK+ font control, also its own internal font control window.
It has trouble sending messages to an SMTP server, sometimes taking a l-o-n-g time, sometimes timing out. This can be temporarily cured by restarting it It crashes when a filter attempts to refile an outgoing message. It often asks if I want to recover messages that have never been lost. It often locks up receiving mail from a remote POP3 server. I can live with these, except for items 1 and 2, since I have workarounds. If you are fairly sure that you have not seen these problems with the SUSE version of Evolution
I had configured the evolution to send/recive email. After it had been configured, it could receive emails. Suddendly it can't fetch email anymore. In the inbox of evolution, there were about 200 emails. There are maybe 5K emails in the server, I guessed. I'm not sure whether it's the problem that there's one email in the server too big, so the evolution can not fetch it. The error of evolution is: error while fetching email. Evolution version: Evolution 2.28.0. OS version: Linux xxx2.6.32.9-70.fc12.i686.PAE #1 SMP Wed Mar 3 04:57:21 UTC 2010 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux I'm sure my network is fine, I use pop3 to receive email.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently installed Deluge 1.2.0 from the following PPA:[URL]I using this on two different Linux computers. One is running Linux Mint 8 and the other is running Ubuntu Netbook Remix 9.10. The first time on either computer when I enable WebUI in the Deluge GUI it works fine. However if I ever disable it in plugins section I am subsequently unable to re-enable it (doesn't appear in the side panel again). Rebooting or reinstalling Deluge seems to have no effect. Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm migrating a mailserver from an old to a new mailserver. The new mailserver is based on ISPConfig 3.0.6.1. I would like to migrate what spamassassin learnt in the past from the old mailserver to the new one. Now the question:
- The 2 spamassassin versions are different. Is it a problem?
- Can I just migrate the database with this commands???
Code:
sa-learn --backup > sadb.bkp
sa-learn --restore ./sadb.bkp
-how to migrate SpamAssasins Auto White List and all others SpamAssassins databases?
Upgraded my Debian server over the weekend - caught up on all the updates since January. One of them was Spamassassin, which was working fine before (3.2.5). After the upgrade to 3.3.1, it's NOT using Bayes anymore - and I'm now finding 200+ messages for male-enhancement/ED meds, knockoffs of expensive watches and no-study graduate degrees in my Inbox that previously would have gone to /dev/null. I have the following in /etc/spamassassin/local.cf:
[Code]....
I have a dedicated server which is running CentOS release 5.5
I'm still learning this as I go, but, frustrated at the amount of spam I was getting, I decided to install the Qmail scanner.
I followed the instructions here, all of which seemed to go well.

However, now when I try to send mail I am getting the following error:
The mail server responded: qq temporary problem (#4.3.0).
Due to all the "fun" I had upgrading spamassassin from 3.2.5 to 3.3.1 on C55 I thought I would detail it here so as to possibly save others from all the frustration I have endured. There are probably a zillion different ways to make this work but this is how I did it and it seems to work well.
1) Acquire spamassassin rpm.
I downloaded several different versions from various sites and had problems with all of them so I ended up grabbing the SRPM from Fedora 13 spamassassin-3.3.1-2.fc13.src.rpm. This of course will not load onto C55 as rpmbuild has changed so I loaded it onto a FC13 box and then TARed the SPEC & SOURCES directories, copied them onto a C55 and built SRPM from there.
2) Install on C55
The new spamassassin requires several updated packages to make it happy.
a) perl-Mail-DKIM greater than 0.31. I cheated and used this one from FC8 perl-Mail-DKIM-0.32-3.fc8.noarch.rpm
b) perl-socket6 that is 2.0 or later. I got this one from DAG perl-Socket6-0.20-1.rf.x86_64.rpm
c) perl-NetAddr-IP that is 4.0 or later. Again DAG saved the day perl-NetAddr-IP-4.007-1.rf.x86_64.rpm
d) the spamassassin of course :)
Actually I built them from the SRPMs as I needed both the 32 and 64 bit packages for various servers.
3) Run sa-update --D to get the latest rules then restart the spamassassin service. For those who do not have access to a FC13 box you can get a copy of the SRPM I made here [URL].
I have Centos 5.5 and using Postfix, procmail and Dovecot for sending and receiving emails. I have spamassassin installed too but not configured. I am getting lots of spams. I googled a lot to find if there is any configuration but I couldn't find.how to setup spamassassin to filter emails for spams.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI configured a mail server using Squeeze's latest packages with Posfix + Amavisd-new + Clamav + Spamassassin, but apparently the latter is not using the system configuration files, and I cannot figure out why.Running amavis in debug mode I get the following:

block incoming email within either postfix or spamassassin when the sender equals the recipient. The manner in which our mail infrastructure is set up would preclude this from happening. Granted, we do have outside vendors that spoof our domain so we have to allow emails in with our domain as the sender/from. The vendors do not, however, utilize the same sender/recipient when sending emails.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI followed this how to document [URL] to install postfix, Amavisd, SpamAssassin and ClamAV. My postfix installation is working fine and I can send and receive emails fine. However, it looks like SpamAssassin is not catching any emails. Emails do get passed over to Amavisd as I can see in the logs but ALL Messages comes out CLEAN without being tagged as spam.
As per the document, I did test by sending a test virus email
sendmail -i your-address@example.com < sample-virus-simple.txt.
This is caught and NOT let through so ClamAV is ok but when i send
sendmail -i your-address@example.com < sample-spam-GTUBE-junk.txt
it does get delievered without being detected as SPAM or tagged as SPAM.
As I said, I have followed the documentation dot by dot and hence do not have spamassassin starting up as a service but i guess amavisd starts it within itself as a module.
Also, my postfix version is the one that supports mysql virtual tables which I got from rpmforge.
way to remove open-whois.org as an rbl from /usr/share/spamassassin/50_scores.cf/usr/share/spamassassin/72_active.cfIt's creating a lot of false positives on a mail server i am using with ubuntu. i noticed only ubuntu lucid is using updated spamassassin 3.3.1 and all others are using 3.2.5i was on spamassassin's website and noticed this issue has been resolved on spamassassin 3.3.1 but not 3.2.5i tried looking in those files but they are too complicated for me to understand.i am assuming they manually have to be removed.can anyone help with the open-whois.org rbl removal from mail servers as it is currently squatted and creating false positives?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have Postfix and Spamassassin setup on Ubuntu Server 9.10. The mail is working perfectly. Spamassassin is correctly marking messages as spam. My problem is with the milter and procmail. On past servers I was able to reject spam based on score via the spamass-milter. For whatever reason I can not get it to work. I have also tried with procmail, again, it does not work. Here are the relative lines in their respective config files:

In the last week email delivery had slowed down to taking approximately 24 hours and investigation has revealed that there were 45000 emails in the mailqueue. I flushed the mailqueue yesterday but mail delivery is slowing down again because emails are again being queued by the thousand.
The mails are mainly spam sent to ficticious users at a genuine domain hosted on the server.
My setup is running Courier IMAP with Postfix, Spassassin is installed along with Amavisd-new but I just don't understand why this has suddenly become a problem based on my setup not having changed for the last 6 months.
Should these spam emails be being discarded by spamassassin before reaching the mail queue? Are my discard score settings too high (6.9)?
Anyone know what version of spam assassin is newer 3.3.1-3 or 3.3.1-52 I would assume 52 is newer but I don't know if once it reaches 99 it going to 2 Example 3.3.1-99 ---- 3.3.1-2 -----3.3.1-21 and so on. I could be completely off but can anyone just clarify if 3.3.1-3 is newer or older than 3.3.1.52
(On a side note does anyone know the difference between spamassassin-3.3.1-3.el5.rfx.i386.rpm and spamassassin-3.3.1-3.el5.rf.i386.rpm?? What does the X mean?) I looked at the release date of .52 and it seems to be in march 2010 whereas .1-3 seems to be in november. oes that seem correct? Does anyone have a direct download to spamassassin-3.3.1-3el5.rf.i386.rpm???
I am currently running Ubuntu Server 9.10 and followed this HOWTO on setting up my email server.
[url]
Everything seems to work correctly. If I look in the Maildir the emails I send to test are there.
The problem is when I try to sync my email via IMAP from my windows box (on a different network) it doesn't show any of my email nor does it deliver new email. My email app doesn't give any errors nor does the logs on the server.
How can I get it so my email syncs to windows computer? I am sure it is something really small that I am over looking but I can't seem to find it anywhere. I don't know if you need to see any of my config files but I can post them if needed.
start working with SA+Amavis+clamd+postfix+dovecot.will be my filter:spamassassin+amavisd-new+clamd. 1 Server will be my mail server: postfix+dovecot. Like u see, the emails from the outside reach first the filter, latter the mailbox. Now, I have seen in my log files, that if I receive a email to a "unknown user", the filter doesn't detect this and process the email and send it to the mail server. Exist a way to setup the filter to first check if the user exist and them apply all hard work and latter send the email to the mail server
View 3 Replies View Relatedim using postfix with amavis and spamassassin as spam/virus filtering and its working great. However, i get a "lot"(1-5/day) of "bad header" messages beeing quarantined by the server. And most of theese bad headers are false positives that i manually have to deliver to the correct mailbox. How can i make amavis/spamassassin deliver bad header messages to the correct mailbox and not place them in quarantine?Theese are my amavis settings. View 8 Replies View RelatedI have been using Fedora 14, which has Evolution 2.32.1 but have recently also installed openSUSE 11.3, which has Evolution 2.30.1.2. I would like to make openSUSE my primary distribution, and so I would like to restore my Evolution settings from Fedora, but Evolution complains that the backup file is invalid. I have tried copying the folders in the backup to their appropriate locations in openSUSE with no luck. I have also tried manually copying with instructions for older versions of openSUSE, but with no luck.
An obvious guess at what might be the problem seems to be that I am trying to restore settings from a newer version to an older version? An obvious thing to try would be to upgrade to Evolution 2.32, but Evolution has a long list of dependencies so before jumping into that fun I thought I would ask if anyone else has had similar problems and found a straight-forward solution. I still have access to my emails in Fedora so this is not hugely pressing, and if upgrading to 11.4 will do the trick then I can just wait for that.
i tried to update my evolution from 2.30.? to 2.32.1 usning
ppa
ppa:julenlanda/evolution
Because the exchange plugin didn't work i uninstalled evolution and removed the ppa. Now when i try to install evolution from the software centre i get this: Package dependencies cannot be resolved This error could be caused by required additional software packages which are missing or not installable. Furthermore there could be a conflict between software packages which are not allowed to be installed at the same time.
it asks me if I want to repair the catalog, i say yes.
I moved all my files in my home directory to a new computer. This old machine is Ubuntu 9.10 and the new one is Ubuntu 10.10. These files included my original ".evolution" directory. But on the new computer, when I run Evolution, it seems to ignore or not understand this directory, and wants me to set up all new accounts. There is a lot of email saved locally in that ".evolution" directory I need to keep. How can I get this newer version of Evolution to use those old files?
View 14 Replies View Relatedi finally tried to use a mail client other than gmail, and can't figure out how to Bcc someone. Evolution has a CC field, but i don't see how to make a Bcc field. Thunderbird doesn't show either one. Anyone know how to do this? Btw, it took me about 2 or 4 minutes to setup Evolution, but Thunderbird just asked for my email and password, and set itself up in seconds! I guess that i will be using Thunderbird, since it seems that they're not messing around.in thunderbird, once you already have an email address in the "To" field, you can click the "To:" label, and it opens a drop down menu, and then you can select Bcc.
View 2 Replies View RelatedThis is odd - I just installed Fedora 13 onto a clean disk, but I restored some folders from backup to my home directory.
Afterwards I noticed that double clicking on a date on the calendar does not open evolution's calendar. I uninstalled evolution* , removed .evolution folder, and re-installed the 3 pieces.
Still nothing.. I double click a date, it does not pop up.
I see that it's running tho..

21839 ? Sl 0:00 evolution calendar:///?startdate=20100613T210000Z
how to debug and or fix this? PS - nothing in /var/log/messages

View 1 Replies View RelatedI use Evolution Mail Client everyday on my fedora machine. It has become indispensable somewhat. I am wondering if Evolution can be made to run in the background without the GUI, so it can check mails (IMAP/POP) and post delivery reminders through notify-send. I don't mean evolution-notify-alarm ... I know evolution-notify-alarm runs like that but I think that is limited to calender events and tasks (using data mostly stored locally)
I find that I get notified via notify-send interface only when Evolution GUI is on or minimized. Is there a way to get a real background version of this activity - the GUI can then appear when the Panel Icon is clicked
Last week I performed an update on my laptop running Fedora 14 with "yum update".
The first problem was that while updating, my machine was frozen and after a had reboot I got a kernel panic (#$%*) After adding the new kernel manually that was fixed but after rebooting, I couldn't start my mailer (Evolution) any more.
When I start evolution while running KDE I get this message (tail var/log/messages):

How can I get evolution back to work again on my machine?
PS.After rebooting the login screen has changed and now I can't change anymore to using gnome. It only gives the options to login to KDE or 'custom'. How can I change custom to Gnome?
Evolution 2.24.5 is currently installed in fedora 10. I have downloaded and extracted evolution-2.30.1 to my home folder, but evolution still shows 2.24.5. How do I update 2.24.5 to 2.30.1? I looked at the update man page but can't figure out a proper command.
