Fedora :: Cookie Editor / Adder / Remover - Order To Change A Particular Browser's Cookie Values?
Jan 21, 2011
I'm looking for a program that will add cookies to my web browser (firefox or chrome, preferably). The application would ask me for the Cookie's:Name
Content
Domain
Path
Send For (type of connection)
Expiration Date
If no one knows of an application that does this, does anyone know what files i could manually edit in order to change a particular browser's cookie values?

I am trying to ssh a remote system and redirect X with:
ssh -X remote.system.somewhere
(common user name in local/remote system so no need to set -l uname ) however I receive the following:
x11_request_forwarding: bad authentication data: MIT-MAGIC-COOKIE-1

i would like to know whether it is possible to pass firefox a single cookie generated by some other program (in this case wget), doing it from the command line. my concrete use for this is to login to a site (connect.garmin.com) with wget, saving the cookie with --save-cookies --keep-session-cookies, pass this cookie to curl, do some uploads and then pass the cookie to firefox to open the page and have me logged in automatically (everything besides firefox is sorted out). google searches and the firefox man page suggest that firefox doesn't have this functionallity, but would it in that case be possible to link the cookie into firefox's normal cookie jar?

I would like Chromium to discard all cookies at the end of the session except for specified domains. I thought I had it set up right, but it doesn't remember me on either ubuntuforums or facebook.
Does anyone know if I'm missing something or if this is a bug?

I'm setting a cookie value using RewriteRule statements in .htaccess for checking if my site should not redirect from the main desktop site to the mobile site (when accessed via iphone browser). The problem occurs when the first RewriteRule sets "mobile=desktop" in the cookie (from detecting "?desktop=true" in the querystring), the third RewriteRule fails to detect the new cookie value and redirect. If I reload the page again (without any querystring for "?desktop=true"), then the third RewriteRule redirects successfully.
Can anyone tell me why the third RewriteRule fails to detect the cookie value straight after it is set in the first rule? How can I fix this to work properly?

I can open the stream fine from Firefox and I have recorded streams using VLC, however this one uses cookies as authentication and VLC will not play it Apparently it's considered a security issue so cookie support has not been implemented for VLC.

I am learning jquery and I think for the most part I have the basics down. One of the things that I am attempting to do is to create cookies using the jquery cookie plugin. The idea is that I want to replace as much of the javascript in my code as possible with jquery to see the difficulties in doing it one way or the other.
As easy as it seems to be able to create a cookie using the plugin I have not been able to do some successfully and the only thing that I can think of is the way that I am submitting my parameters is not correct. So with that, here is is my code:

i recently moved from Ubuntu to Debian(squeeze).. i am very pleased with squeeze except for this bug..I have this python script i wrote to change my wallpaper (through Gconf), the script would be called by cron from time to time. The problem i am facing in Debian is that this script stopped working.I am exporting the $DISPLAY=:0 in Cron, (this is how it worked in Ubuntu)..the cron job i used is below:
-----------
* * * * * export DISPLAY=:0 && /path/to/my/script.py
--------
so the above was not running...I redirected the output and this is what i got as error:
-------------
Failed to contact configuration server; the most common cause is a missing or misconfigured D-Bus session bus daemon. See http://projects.gnome.org/gconf/ for information. (Details - 1: Failed to get connection to session: /usr/bin/dbus-launch terminated abnormally with the following error: Invalid MIT-MAGIC-COOKIE-1 keyAutolaunch error: X11 initialization failed.)

Recently I was going through some chmod manipulations and found the umask values to be 0002 by default in Fedora 11 distro. What I knew about the default values to be 022. I don't know whether this is a kernel modification in this distro or my system is in compromise(I doubt for the latter option, but not confirmed).

how slow XP was on my laptop, a casual friend (who moved away and I have since lost touch with) installed Fed 11 as a dual boot with XP, Fed 11 first. It has worked great for email and some net surfing. Now the machine is going to my wife, who does not want have to go to the boot menu to get XP. How do I change the order so that XP boots first and you have to go to the menu to get Fed 11? I've tried going through the forums, but since I'm not really a computer person, there are some basics I don't know (for example "open a terminal" - how does one do that?)

I have reinstalled Fedora 11 i386 four times now. After I install the Nvidia drivers from rpmfusion I start having intermittent problems with no sound at bootup. Null output. I've posted here about this problem but received no responses so this must not be a common problem.
Would it be possible to change the order that the drivers load so the nvidia driver loads after the sound drivers?

I'm running into a strange problem trying to change the service load or boot order on my CentOS 5.3 box.
The service in question is shorewall. When I go to my /etc/rc.d/rc5.d/, I notice that shorewall is listed a S27shorewall. I need it to start much later. So I run a simple command "mv S27shorewall S99shorewall"
I then restart the server. But after the reboot, something has reset it back to S27shorewall.
For those of you who like the background story: I need to change it to S99shorewall, because I need shorewall to start AFTER xend does all its stuff, as xend messes around with the underlying networking of the computer. The xend stuff was at S98 and S99...but I was able to successfully rename them back to S97 and S98, and the rename stuck. I've also renamed other service orders. Those stick. The only one that gets reset is shorewall, always back to S27. I have no clue how to tell what is causing the resetting...

I'm trying to automate OS installation. I've setup PXE and able to do network installation. For installation, I'm changing the BIOS boot order to boot from network.Once the OS installation is over, I need to manually change the BIOS boot order to boot from hard-disk. Can BIOS boot order be changed using programs/command-line so that i can eliminate human intervention in the installation process by changing back to the original boot order by program/commands?

I recently installed a 64-bit version of centOS 5 alongside a 32-bit version, which I use. Turns out the 64-bit version absolutely will not boot and I'm stuck with it as my default boot option. Since the grub being used resides on the 64-bit half, I cant edit the menu file but I know theres a way to do this without it, through grub itself. I have about 29 render nodes now with this problem, and whenever they need to be rebooted I have to hook a monitor up to each one and hold its hand through the boot process. How to change the grub menu through grub itself, basically just change the default boot option and then have it stay that way?

Why does ping see audit.median.hu as 127.0.0.0, and why does host -t a audit.median.hu see it as 193.68.35.149? audit.median.hu is just an example site [hosts ads, etc.]
I just have a caching nameserver on my Fedora PC:
I configured my DNS server addresses in the Network-Manager Applet: 127.0.0.1, 8.8.8.8
Even with Wireshark, I can see it:
So the big question: Why don't the host command or my web browser recognize that I have modified audit.median.hus IP address?

I've been searching for the answer to my question for quite some time on google, no luck. Due to my searchings I've become very familiar with nice and renice.
I have a script I use for launching a game installed with wine. I cannot/wont run this game as root but I need to be able to use nice --7. As of now I can't I -- ofc -- get "permission denied"..
So how do I make the full range of niceness ( [-19;20] IIRC ) available for all users on my system -- or even just for 1 user?

My question is about TCP parameters in Linux. By now, I want to change the default values of:
Initial Timeout
ACK Delay
Idle Connection Timeout
I have a Linux Box with kernel 2.6.x and 2 ethernet interfaces. I know TCP is a stack that doesn't have anything to do with ethernet devices. Said that, the question: is there a way to set custom values for each interface? For example, a server listening to connections in eth0 would use one value for Idle Connection Timeout and another server listening to connections in eth1 could use a different value for that parameter.

I am a new Ubuntu user in Hungary, where we use reverse name orders (perhaps called the "eastern name order"). I mean Hasselhoff David instead of David Hasselhoff. Its quite a big problem for me, especially during syncing with my phone (which finally works now, after a few days of reading and searching...).Is it possible to change that in Ubuntu?

How do I change the EDITOR environment variable so it stays changed? I already put a line
EDITOR=/bin/nano
in /etc/environment, and I also tried
sudo update-alternatives --config editor
to no avail; when I do gksu nautilus in Debian and open a config file I get abiword, and when I run the script "open as administrator" in Ubuntu I open Emacs if it is installed (I'd like to learn Emacs but not use it right away for simple editing tasks). How come? How can I make nano stick in all cases? I'll keep looking but have not yet found anything useful.
