I've been using xword-1.0, which I compiled from source after downloading it from x-word.org, do work NY times puzzles.I was able to print the puzzles under Fedora 11, but printing fails under Fedora 12 with the message"Printing libraries are not installed. Please install the Python wrapper for gnomeprint."I've tried installing every thing I could find which seemed relevant, but I still get that error message.
View 2 RepliesI initially had a problem accessing the CUPS interface (see my other post) and got that resolved by adding the user "cupsys". Now, everything "looks" ok, and when I print a test page, it shows it as completed (in CUPS). However, the page never prints.
The printer is a Canon MP600 (using the canonmp600en.ppd file to configure it). Here's the output of my conf file.

Interesting problem: For the first time with Xubuntu 10.10 64bit, I am finding certain applications print corrupt. A varying amount of letters / numbers either get substituted/print a blank space/ print a box etc etc. This corruption seems to happen from a Pdf ( evince ) or Spreadheet ( Gnumeric ) Opening the same Pdf on another machine (ubuntu 10.10 32bit) prints perfectly. Opening the same .xls file on the original computer but using OOo Calc prints perfectly.
I guess I have ruled out any problems with the printer itself or the network JetDirect box. I have re-installed CUPS and evince and upgraded to the latest version of HPLIP but the problem appears unchanged.
I cannot print pdf files. I have tried using okular and xpdf. The documents display in the program, but print preview shows a blank page. The printer then sends out blank pages. I have tried printing on 2 different printers using usb cables. Using terminal to process the commands shows error:

My wife has a canon MP470 printer and running ubuntu 10.10. I am able to print black and white, but unable to print photos. I got it to work using another driver, but not the 'correct' one for this printer. I have searched a bit and don't see anything about ubuntu 10.10, just older versions. Or should I just network her to my printer....?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm running Kubuntu 10.10 with a Laserjet 5M printer. When I attempt to print a job from Firefox or from Okular, the job never gets onto the print queue. However, I can print test pages on the printer and also print from OpenOffice, so this seems to be app-dependent. I know the jobs aren't being queued because the job number doesn't increase (as shown by the jobs for the test pages). Both Firefox and Ocular give every indication that the print job has been processed correctly.
View 1 Replies View RelatedNot sure when CUPS started acting up. I have the latest 13.1 current software installed.The first page to print is always OK, but all succeeding pages are overwritten. The second page shows the first page on top of it, and the third shows the preceding pages on top of it - and so on. Has anyone else seen this problem?I guess the printer buffer is not getting flushed correctly. If my configurations were trashed in some way, I don't know where to look for a fix.

I would like to combine several separate web pages so that for example, web-page-a, web-page-b and web-page-c (each less than one print page long) are printed on a single sheet of paper.
I would like to do this without having to use some form of image editor to combine and manage manually created temporary files.
Just installed drivers for Lexmark pro200 - S500 series. However although it is recognised by the system and has a tick by its name, And tells me it is connected via usb file goes to print que but will not print. Also tells me it is Printing - localhost! is this correct?.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to connect to a network printer Dell 3110cn from Fedora 14 x64. Till a few days ago, everything was fine. However, over the last few days, I am unable to print anything using my old settings and I am unable to print even if I delete the printer and reinstall it.
During setup, Fedora is able to connect to the printer and I am able to install the drivers and everything. But, when I print something (even the test page), I get the error message
"Unable to write print data - Broken pipe'.
I have searched online quite a bit about this problem. Most suggestions were to look if the printer status was "Idle - Ready/Accepting Jobs" since the problem in those cases was that the printer status was "Printer not ready". But in my case, the printer is recognized but unable to print.
I have installed Fedora 12 with latest updates. My problem is printing from Winstar Networking USB 2.0 Server (WS-NSU62P). This device is attached with LAN cable to Windows XP machine. HP LaserJet 2200d is connected on WS-NSU62P with USB cable. This printer works fine with Windows clients (when you add printer with standard procudure for WinXP OS). Before adding the printer I have to install some drivers witch i found on install cd. I didn't found any drivers for Linux. Specification has info about supported protocol on WS-NSU62P (Network Protocol IPX, TCP/IP, NETBUEI, APPLETALK, LPR, smb (Over IP)
How to set my Printer configuration in Fedora 12 to enable printing from HP LaserJet 2200d connected on Winstar Networking USB 2.0 Server (WS-NSU62P)?
I am trying to set up printing on my Fedora 14 laptop, on my home network.
Details:
- Home network, single subnet, the desktops are connected to the switch portion of my Linksys via Ethernet and all have static addresses. Name resolution between them is via hosts file entries. The router is running wireless (WPA2/AES/DHCP) to accommodate my laptop which is dual boot XP Pro and Linux Fedora 14.
- The printer is an HP Deskjet F4180 printer. It is attached via USB to a Windows XP Pro box and shared. The XP box is wired and static ip.
- I am able to see all the shares and print to the shared printer from any of the Windows boxes, wired and wireless, including my laptop when I run Windows on it.
- My Fedora 14 is working fine on wireless, using Network Manager and KDE desktop. I am able to access all the Windows shares on both of my wired desktops. One desktop is XP Pro, the other is Windows 7.
This is what happens when I try to set up printing on Fedora:
- I go to Administration / Printing and click to Add a Printer.
- I am prompted for the root password twice, which I put in.
- I select Network Printer / Windows printer via samba and click on Browse...
- It finds my WORKGROOUP and machine name mig29 and prompts for user ID and password which I type in.

the user ID and logon on Fedora is different from the one on Windows. During setup I am prompted for credentials. It seems to me that somewhere down the line Fedora supplies not the credentials I supply but my local user ID and password and it obviously fails.
Our one remaining problem seems to be printing. She has an HP OfficeJet 6500 USB printer. We have the computer conntected. Strangely, when I boot from the CD the printer shows up as installed even though I did nothing to install it. After having submitted a print job it shows the printer status as "idle" and the print queue is empty. I tried deleting that printer and re-installing. The installation went as one would expect. However the results are the same. I'm beginning to think that somehow the problem is related to the fact that we are operating from the live CD. getting this thing to print from the live CD.

lpr somefile.txt
But now I can't. All my HP laserjet 6p does is spit out one blank page and stops. The funny part about this is I can print anything with the same printer from Firefox and it works fine. I wish I knew exactly what command and options Firefox uses for that but I can't tell from the Firefox menus. At one time I knew the URL for accessing configurations like printers, etc., but I can't remember now.
I'm running Fedora 14 KDE. I've configured my HP LaserJet 2300 printer in System Settings, and can print the test page fine, but when I try to print from an application such as Firefox, the application seems to think it's printing, but it doesn't actually print. I see no dialog box telling me that a job was created. There are no new jobs in the printer applet. Where are my print jobs going? I'm not really even sure where to look. I don't see anything printer related in /var/log/messages.
Well, looks like I got it fixed. Not sure exactly why, but restarting CUPS seems to have resolved it. We'll see if it stays working,but for now, I can print...
I believe I have installed my Brother HL 2040 printer on my Fedora 11 64 bit system. However, every time I click printer the printer goes through its warm up procedure but it does not print anything. There is paper in the tray and I know it was working when I was running Fedora 10. It is shown under the Printers heading under Administration.

I cannot get my wife's Vista/Home Basic laptop to print via FC11. Have tried adding with server. nada. Tried adding with TCP/IP. nada. . smb\Towerprinter. nothing. [url] nothing + every combination there of.
When I press the print screen button I get the activity indicator on the mouse and then nothing happens. I'm no FC10. At one time it worked, but only on my left monitor.

If I select the printer options only 1 side is available (Page Setup Tab, under layout two-sided has only 1-sided available. I have the same with gedit. So far all other apps are fine. View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to set up Fedora to print to my Canon i560 printer which is connected to a Netgear PS121v1 print server. The PS121 is just a box that the printer is plugged into via USB and which plugs into my Netgear wireless router via a CAT5 cable. This allows the printer to be shared among all of the computers in my house including several laptops via wireless connection. My Fedora system is also a laptop which is connected wirelessly to the router.
So far I haven't figured out how to set up Fedora to print to this configuration. Further complicating things, it appears that the Canon i560 doesn't have a Linux driver. Just wondering if anyone else has tried to use a shared printer configuration like this and has any advice on how to make it work (if it can work at all).

It seemed that, since all three computers run CUPS, you would think it was a no brainer to set up printing. Maybe my brain's too small. Would some one get me out of my misery? Where does one start? I'm getting ready to install Fedora 12 and I've been messing around with the live cd. I have a HP F4280 all in one printer. I currently am running Fedora 10 and it works fine. I remember I had to yum install the newest version of hplip and after that run the hpsetup command. My question is do I need to run the hpsetup command before using the gnome printer configuration tool or vice versa.
Also do I even need to run the gnome configuration tool at all?
How can I print an image from GIMP and have the grid that Gimp generates print-out on the image?
