Is there a way to extend a partition?
I cloned from a 150 gb drive to a 500gb drive. It left a unused 340gb part.
When I load up the Disk Utility, I have the following:
214mb Linux Ext4
160gb LVM2
340gb uninitialized
Is there a way to extend or combine the 160gb and the 340gb without re-installing Fedora

I'm trying to load the flash stuff in webpages, but it says i need the flash plugin.
I download the YUM rpm installer, and use yum localinstall to do it.
Terminal say: /home/wade/Download/adobe-release-i386-1.0-1.noarch.rpm: does not update installed package.
I have already tried installing it, and it says it worked fine, but I'm still unable to view flash.

I am trying to set up my iPod Touch with gtkpod. The iPod mounts just fine and the first time I open gtkpod it recognises there is an iPod and asks for a model number. Then I receive this error :
Extended info will not be used.

(New thread due to significant change in info)5th gen iPod is recognized, but will not load files into banshee. It is the latest version of banshee. My ipod (named SON2) shows up in the menu, but when selected it hangs on "Loading SON2" and showing that it's busy...but this goes on without end, no files ever get loaded. Also, banshee doesn't recognize any music or video on the ipod, only "other". Steps taken so far:- A complete removal and reinstallation of banshee has had no effect.- Installed latest version of podsleuth, no effect- Previous had "automount" in nautilus preferences unchecked, rechecked - no effectPossible signs of danger:Running Banshee from Terminal output (CLICK HERE FOR NOPASTE OUTPUT)- skipping my song errors, at the bottom 4 warnings occur, followed by a number of failures which I don't understand

I would like to see a good mp3 Player like Winamp developed for Ubuntu 10.04 LTS. A video joiner like Kate's Video Joiner. I use VLC and Movie Player most of the time but, Rhythmbox is a bust if you want to hear a file (mp3) at a time. The only thing I can get working is a playlist.

I am trying to connect my 2nd Gen Ipod to Xubuntu and import my music collection onto the Ipod. I am having real problems with this. Rhythm Box does not recognise the Ipod with the plug-in, I have tried Amarok, but each time I tried to open it, it just crashed, tried sending a bug report but that did not want to work. I have also tried Exaile with the Ipod plug-in but when you go to the device manager you can click on the Ipod but nothing happens. I have tried looking at the Exaile forums but this seems to be a problem for others as well. The Ipod mounts ok, now a bit stuck.

Its a dell e510 with about a gig of ram. I'm struggling to get my ipod touch working with the gtkpod ipod manager. At this point my ipod shows on my desktop when i connect it via usb. I cannot set up the repository for it in gtkpod because i dont know the location its mounting to. if its mounting at all. so my question is. how can i tell where my ipod is being mounted? I dont have a clue what to look for in the terminal results for "df -a"
But this is what i get:
Code:
Filesystem 1K-blocks Used Available Use% Mounted on
/dev/sda1 152357444 65577992 79040140 46% /
proc 0 0 0 - /proc
none 0 0 0 - /sys
[Code]...
Edit : Itouch = first generation 8gb Edit 2: I would like to create a sticky thread that helps new users answer questions about ipods. Will a moderator please let me know what i should include in their opinion? ex. using wine to run itunes, gtkpod and how to set it up, using mm players like banshee and songbird... what version of ubuntu works best with the ipods.

I was recently using OO-calc to try to organize some table-based data to clean it up (delete unneeded columns) before converting it to a database insert statement. While doing this, at one point, open office changed the grid width and height to being really small. I changed it back to normal, but now even the font is really small, but the font-size is set to 10 px. I can't figure out (a) what happened, and (b) how to put it back to normal. I'll attach 2 images to make it more clear about what it's actually doing...

I had Fedora 7 and Windows Vista dual booting on my computer. I just installed Fedora 10. When the live CD asked me where to install it, I chose "Remove all Linux Partitions and create default layout" The installation went perfectly, but now when reboot my computer, it boots directly into Fedora; GRUB does not load to ask me which OS I want to load. I know I did not overwrite Vista because I can still view my Vista files through Fedora. Here is my grub.conf file:
[Code]...
What do I need to do to make GRUB load again upon booting?

After having some problems getting firefox 4 to install from spots i got wondering, in the general case when stuff from these repos fails (the repos hosted by fedora not any arbitrary repo i find on the internet) where should i report problems? Bugzilla (though didnt think they where *officially supported*)? Contact the person running it? Just accept the stuff is offered as-is and might not allways work?

Just picked up a SanDisk Sansa mp3 player. I used the package manager to DL a FAT16 sorter, but that didn't seem to work. Does anyone know of a package I might use or how to get this to work. Also, is there a script anyone has written to add all of the plugins and multimedia stuff on high use or the regular.

use Fedora 15. I had installed driver for my ATI graphic card, as it was written in Fedora guide, then when I rebooted the system the bars and icons appeared with strange, changed colours (purple, green, etc). I've read that this happened because of the bad drivers, so I tried to fix it. Unfortunatelly because I'm Linux newbie and I'm also very nervous I deleted (using Fedora software manager) everything connectedtalyst from my system. Now when I try to start my computer, grub starts in text mode.My question is:What can I do? Do I have to reinstall my system or maybe someone knows how to fix it?I'm quite scared because now I can't launch not only Fedora but also Windows.(I'm writing from another computer

I have 2 different networks: the first one is gateway machine (eth0), and the second is a private machine (eth1). So, I've configured the iptables and forwarding stuff and when I try to ping google.com on the gateway machine, it works, while it doesn't work on the private network. Note: I am using VmWare 7. I need your quick assistance about this issue.

I recently installed Fedora 13 on my system, and I'm still in the process of setting it up as I like. As the FCEU and snes9x versions on rpmfusion are old (fceultra 0.98, snes without GUI), I wanted to compile my own RPMs Everything went OK, but I found myself having to build the packages several times because of missing LDFLAGS. I got several errors like "symbol X missing, it was found on Y so you may want to add Y to the linker flags", which I fixed by modifying & exporting LDFLAGS.
So, 2 questions:
1.- why are the LDFLAGS missing? How can I avoid having to set them up manually?
2.- There should be a way to avoid re-compiling the source and only run the rpm packaging stuff with the already built things (some option like 'don't build, only package'). how can I do that?
BTW, I can share my (pretty much hacked) .spec files if you are interested

i m trying to fix the nvidia drivers and stuff to let Desktop Effects work. I reboot after some changes, and at first I got a kernal error message, and the Fedora froze. So I restart,, and it freezes before I even get the error message. Pop in the live cd, booted up from it so I can talk to my fedora friend, and the reboot to try again. Works, still hasn't froze, and I could get the actual error info.

I reinstalled fedora the other day, and it's been working just fine, apart from the internet. It shows that I have a full connection with the wireless network, but it's really difficult to actually load a page. 80% of the time it just fails and shows "Page Load Error". It's really frustrating because it is connected to the internet. In fact, the icon in the address bar even loads from the site I try to access, but websites just will not load.
I've tested my wireless internet with another laptop which is running vista, and it works perfectly on that. Also, I'm running Fedora 10 on an Acer Extensa laptop.

I want to load grub2 from grub4dos.I want to load directly the grub2 core. I know how to load first 512 bytes from some patition by chainloader and load grub2, but what I need is to load directly grub2 core without passing by bootstriping code (first 512 bytes). So, my first boot manager is grub4dos, then I can load grub2 and later I load Ubuntu. But I think I have to edit --set-root
What I dont know is how.
In hdd 0,7 (sda8) I have Ubuntu 10.10 and /boot/grub/core.img is in sda8 (hd0.7)
I tried this way:
Code:
title grub2
find --set-root /boot/grub/core.img
kernel /boot/grub/core.img
