Debian :: Plugin Disables Automatically - Unable To Enable
Apr 11, 2010
there i had a issue with compiz where i would try to enable a plugin but it would disable itself. i tried searching a lot on the net but ended up with almost no luck. Some plugins from the compiz-fusion-main-plugins package disable themselves, this occur because the version of plugin package is actually newer than the compiz and compiz-core packages. To solve this problem i added a repository which had the latest versions of compiz and upgraded them. since the actual repositories for debian testing maintain the two packages with different versions.
I recently installed Deluge 1.2.0 from the following PPA:[URL]I using this on two different Linux computers. One is running Linux Mint 8 and the other is running Ubuntu Netbook Remix 9.10. The first time on either computer when I enable WebUI in the Deluge GUI it works fine. However if I ever disable it in plugins section I am subsequently unable to re-enable it (doesn't appear in the side panel again). Rebooting or reinstalling Deluge seems to have no effect. Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong?
I'm using Epiphany. Some, but not all, Java apps are not rendering, that did render in Windows. I'm getting dialogue that says applet and Java plugin not installed.
While using Rhythmbox this morning, I was greeted by a blunt and undiscriptive error message:
Code:
Plugin Error:Unable to activate plugin Cover Art.Going to the plugin page, I was supprised to find that most of the installed plugins would not load. Without any info being offered in the player, I looked on line. Many people had problems with other plugins, and most of the time it was a problem with an uninstalled python package. But I checked on this site and I found that I had all of these packages installed. (Well, the python ones at least, to check all of them would take forever.)
Code:
[URL]
After finding no help there, I ran rhythmbox -d to debug:
Code:
(12:04:33) [0x934fe68] [rb_python_module_init] rb-python-module.c:406: Init of python module (rhythmbox:4971): Rhythmbox-WARNING **: unable to load module as python runtime could not be initialized
For some time now I have been unable to update flashplugin. I have been waiting the problem to fix itself, but no.
Here is what happens when I try to update flash:
Code: Select allrob@ace:~$ sudo update-flashplugin-nonfree --status Flash Player version installed on this system : 11.2.202.457 Flash Player version available on upstream site: 11.2.202.460 flash-mozilla.so - auto mode link currently points to /usr/lib/flashplugin-nonfree/libflashplayer.so /usr/lib/flashplugin-nonfree/libflashplayer.so - priority 50
[Code] ....
The same thing happens on both my Debian Jessie machines..
Any way to force the update? Need to update their flashplugin on Jessie?
I am unable to install and enable Java plugin for the firefox web browser. I have already installed open jdk. I also tried to install jre 6. But nothing worked..
My understanding is that when one installs Adobe Reader the browser plugin automatically gets added. For some reason the Adobe browser plugin isn't working in Firefox on my Ubuntu 10.10 desktop. The plugin doesn't show up in Tools Add-ons or Tools -> Manage Content Plug-ins. It works fine on my laptop with the same versions of Ubuntu, Adobe Reader (9.4.2-0maverick1), and firefox (3.6.17).
Starting firefox from a terminal yields messages that are probably illuminating to some: Code: $ LoadPlugin: failed to initialize shared library /opt/google/picasa/3.0/lib/npPicasa3.so [/opt/google/picasa/3.0/lib/npPicasa3.so: cannot open shared object file: Permission denied] 2.4+ kernel w/o ELF notes? -- report this *** NSPlugin Viewer *** ERROR: /opt/Adobe/Reader9/Browser/intellinux/nppdf.so: failed to map segment from shared object: Permission denied This message caused me to stumble onto the readme file, /opt/Adobe/Reader9/Browser/HowTo/ENU/Browser_Plugin_HowTo.txt, which encouraged me to run the script /opt/Adobe/Reader9/Browser/install_browser_plugin.
I ran it in the local mode, and it created the directory ~/.mozilla/plugins and the file nppdf.so in it. Alas, it didn't work, complaining that, Code: $ LoadPlugin: failed to initialize shared library /home/clarkb/.mozilla/plugins/nppdf.so [/home/clarkb/.mozilla/plugins/nppdf.so: wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS32] and again, Code: *** NSPlugin Viewer *** ERROR: /opt/Adobe/Reader9/Browser/intellinux/nppdf.so: failed to map segment from shared object: Permission denied
Next I removed the plugins directory I'd created, and, following an Internet hint, I tried the command: Code: nspluginwrapper -i /opt/Adobe/Reader9/Browser/intellinux/nppdf.so This didn't work either, again complaining that it "failed to map segment..." How I can get the Adobe browser plugin to work? I'm almost sure that it worked not long ago.
Is there a way to automatically enable or disable spellchecking in vim depending on the filetype? I often work with tex files (with lots of text) where the spellchecking is useful, and scripts and conf files where spellchecking often marks variables and functions (which are often in red or similar colour), making them unreadable (red text on red background).
how do I uninstall Java? Tried with Synaptic and apt-get remove, but uninstalling sun-java6 automatically adds default-jre (openjdk) and uninstalling openJdk automatically installs sun-java ... but I don't want ANY Java on my machine - am I missing something? Already thought I maybe have a package that requires SOME kind of Java, but how do I find out?
I have built an Ubuntu 10.10 server for use as an in-house mail server, using Postfix, Dovecot and Squirrelmail. It seems to be working great, except I am unable to get the Squirrelspell plugin to work. I ran the Squirrelmail conf.pl, selected plugins and then selected Squirrelspell, but it does not work when composing an email and clicking on Check Spelling.
It simply reports no errors are found, even when I intentionally make errors. I've looked at the sqspell_config.php file and believe I have it configured correctly. I verified I have Aspell installed and and have it as the designated app in the sqspell_config.php file. I've also tried ispell with the same results.
im using the Fedora 14 64Bit Version, and ive wanted to install the Java plugin for Firefox, but everytime Ive wanted to install it, it tells me this:
Code: [root@JaKsi JaKo]# /usr/sbin/alternatives --install /usr/lib64/mozilla/plugins/libjavaplugin.so libjavaplugin.so.x86_64 /usr/java/default/lib/amd64/libnpjp2.so 20000 failed to read link /usr/lin64/mozilla/plugins/libjavaplugin.so: No such file or directory the primary link for libjavaplugin.so.x86_64 must be /usr/lin64/mozilla/plugins/libjavaplugin.so [root@JaKsi JaKo]# Why lin64? Can I change this?
When I try: sudo apt-get purge flashplugin-installer I get: Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done

Is there any way to force the removal of flashplugin-installer?
I was trying to install ADT plugin in eclipse in fedora 14 x86_64. But am unable to proceed.

When I am installing texlive package power gone suddenly. From that time onwards yum update command is not working. It is giving error as follows:

I'm running Linux 2.6.39.3, and when I upgraded to 3.0 by Mr. Hamaleers page here:

Everything worked fine. My computer was working too, but my internet wasn't. Since it works on the original kernel, I know that maybe it's something I was supposed to install as part of "make [variable]config" The network icon is there, but it doesn't connect automatically as 2.6.39.3 does if that helps as a part of the description.
When I put a DVD in my DVD drive I cannot get Ubuntu to play it, not with VLC, Enna, Boxee or Movie Player, with movie player I get "An Error Occurred Could not open location; you might not have permission to open the file."
With VLC I get some very slow jerky playback that crashes when I go full screen.

I know it is saying that the harddrive that I installed ubuntu is missing.
Heres the story:
My friend's computer wouldnt let him boot to the CD to install Ubuntu on his computer.
So I put his harddrive into my computer as my 3'rd Harddrive and booted the CD on my Machiene and installed Ubuntu to his harddrive.
We got ubuntu to work just fine, and then I removed his harddrive from my computer... big mistake. I no longer have the harddrive that we installed ubuntu to so I cannot use any programs or anything.
What I want to do is get my Windows 7 working again. Right now I cannot do ANYTHING.
So, I've been using Ubuntu (currently 10.04 lucid) for a while now and have added several repositories to my software sources before with never a problem, but now when I try to add a new repository the 'add source' button won't highlight and I am unable to add the repository. Does anyone have any idea why this might be because it is severely irritating me right now and I really don't want to have to completely reinstall Ubuntu to fix this.
I ran Windows on this computer but it decided it wanted to die on me yesterday, so right now I'm using a Ubuntu Live CD. I wanted to save my files before I install Ubuntu on this harddrive, but when I click on 'Computer', I can't see my harddrive. However, if I go to Disk Utility I am able to see the drive: Unknown (500GB) and Unknown (490GB). I cannot access any of the partitions, so I tried to mount them. When I do that, I get the message code...
The same goes with /sda1/ which kind of sucks. I also tried with /sda/ but it didn't work either. I should probably also mention that when I try to run the Ubuntu installer it shows my harddrive, but no partitions.
i'm currently running Ubuntu 11.04.Heres my problem. Everytime i try to run Compiz and apply some of the fantastic effects none of them seem to work. So this tells me that something is either wrong with my graphics driver (because upon a clean install of Ubuntu it says i don't have a graphics card that can supoort Unity) or i've just simply missed a step in adding one.I've checked Nvidia X server only to get the message "You do not appear to be using the NVIDIA X driver Please edit your x configuration file (just run `nvidia-xconfig as root)" I would love to run it in root if (and don't laugh) i only knew how :
From the many commands i've found online i've tired to either get to or find xorg.conf and if i'm mistaken doesn't exist for some reason. In a nutshell. I can't enable 3d acceleration, i can't find xorg.conf.I currently have 325m Nvidia card on my laptop, if it helps : I can give a ton of other information in necessary.
