Sep 1, 2010I'm using Epiphany. Some, but not all, Java apps are not rendering, that did render in Windows. I'm getting dialogue that says applet and Java plugin not installed.

View 5 RepliesSo I have followed every single guide there is on how to run a applet with the java plugin on debian 64. And they all fail. How I could see those applets and java apps with my firefox on debian squeeze amd64.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI try to install the java plugin but the java test pages show not installed. I have tried the openjdk-6-jdk package and the Oracle/Sun 1.6.0_26 version to no avail.
Is there some good instructions page someplace? I have yet to find a set of instructions that provides something clear that works.
im using the Fedora 14 64Bit Version, and ive wanted to install the Java plugin for Firefox, but everytime Ive wanted to install it, it tells me this:
Code:
[root@JaKsi JaKo]# /usr/sbin/alternatives --install /usr/lib64/mozilla/plugins/libjavaplugin.so libjavaplugin.so.x86_64 /usr/java/default/lib/amd64/libnpjp2.so 20000
failed to read link /usr/lin64/mozilla/plugins/libjavaplugin.so: No such file or directory
the primary link for libjavaplugin.so.x86_64 must be /usr/lin64/mozilla/plugins/libjavaplugin.so
[root@JaKsi JaKo]#
Why lin64? Can I change this?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI guess I am still a beginner since I can't do this. I was able to install Java in another computer successfully. I have both running now. The successful one, had a folder for firefox the one with the problem does not have that folder, (firefox). The instuctions I trying to follow are here: [URL]
Not having a firefox folder I installed using /usr/lib/mozilla/plugin . But the plugin has an X attached to the respective icon in /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins.

I need install java [url] but it is not rpm it is rpm.bin. how can i install it ?

Anyone out there running Debian testing/squeeze?
Is Java running in your browsers properly? I just want to make sure I'm not alone. I'm sure a recent update caused the problem. A future update will probably fix it.
Java applets have stopped working on my main desktop and laptop. The server running stable/lenny works fine. Fedora and Ubuntu installed on the laptop also work fine.
Java applications such as JAlbum work without any problems.
Only Java applets in the browsers fail. Iceweasel, Epiphany, and Opera all fail.
It fails on my internal site.
I get the same error at Test Your Java Version And How do I test whether Java is working
But this one works.
Recently I installed DEBIAN 6.0 amd64. Since then I have been unable to do netbanking (at least with linux) due to the missing 64bit java applet plugin, which does the authentication. I cannot get the 32bit plugin working with my browsers (epiphany, iceweasel).
Mozilla.org remmonds using a 32bit browser.
I then installed FIREFOX (32bit), however, it refuses to run : "unable to locate libgtk-x11..." to make it short: the library actually exists on my system (I located it), something else must be wrong.
My questions: will I be better off reinstalling the 32bit version of DEBIAN ? (or what about the possibility of a 64bit java applet plugin being released in near future- will this be wishful thinking or a realistic hope?) as a matter of fact, I have used the java applet since REDHAT version 5 or 6, a lot of years ago, so this plugin-trouble really takes me by surprise.
I'm having trouble getting a working java plugin on my Debian Squeeze Amd 64 system. I've tried some of the suggestions from the forums on linuxquestions (specifically http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...owsers-701947/), but am not having any luck yet.I've installed the sun-java6-{bin,fonts,jre,plugin} packages via Synaptic. When I try to check java on Sun's website, the applet seems to hang. Here's what Iceweasel says on aboutlugins:
Java(TM) Plug-in 1.6.0_18

The next generation Java plug-in for Mozilla browsers.

I am trying out the RHEL6 x86_64 beta. My question is how do I install the Java plugin for Firefox. OpenJDK appears to be installed, but there is no Firefox plugin for it in the "Add/Remove Software" program. I am not part of the RHN. Is it only in the RHN repos?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI installed java applet for Firefox. It seems that I get the same message all the time "Install missing plugins". The path libjavaplugin_oji.so is located at:
Is there something wrong with the path ?
Code: ~ $ /usr/java/jre1.6.0_25/bin/java -showversion Error occurred during initialization of VMjava/lang/NoClassDefFoundError: java/lang/Object
That's the error I get. When trying to run a java app with the firefox plugin, the browser simply crashes if it's the 64bit java or tells me it's not installed if it's the 32bit version.
I'm at a loss as to what to do. I think it has something to do with leftover gunk from a previous version I misinstalled(Is that even a word?) Anyway, the only thing that google could come up with was a solution for windows which laid blame on Bill Gates for having a bunch of pf (java prefetch) files stuffed into c:windows for no apparent reason. The solution was to delete them, but I can't seem to find the java prefetch folder in linux. The method I used is downloading the rpm from java.com the rpm2tgz then installpkg then cp libnpjp2.so to firefox plugins folder.
I'm having trouble with my java, I got it to isntall, restarted but when I go to any java based chat, or drawing site it doesn't load the applet, the applet shows up it just says "Start: Applet not initialized"
Did I install it wrong?
This is my first post and I'm pretty new on Debian. I had used Ubunu for a while now and I've decided to move on Debian Squeeze. But I've one problem: I've a Java programm to install and the installer is GUI Java based. When I run the script, I've the next message:
Preparing to install. Extracting the JRE from the installer archive.Unpacking the JRE.Extracting the installation resources from the installer archive.Configuring the installer for this system's environment.Launching installer Graphical installers are not supported by the VM. The console mode will be used instead. Preparing CONSOLE Mode Installation. But this program is not able to run the installation in console mode.
I've tried to install sun-java6-jre but without success.Has anyone an idea to help me install this programm? My Configuration: Debian Squeeze 6.0 amd64.
I use openSUSE 11.4 64 bits, KDE and FireFox 5.0. I regularly update. When trying to reach my bank, I get the following error: Code: icedteanp plugin error: Failed to run /usr/lib64/jvm/java-1.6.0-openjdk/jre/bin/java. For more detail rerun "firefox -g" in a terminal window. Is there anything I can do to remediate ? Does IcedTea everything that Java does?
View 4 Replies View Relatedthere i had a issue with compiz where i would try to enable a plugin but it would disable itself. i tried searching a lot on the net but ended up with almost no luck. Some plugins from the compiz-fusion-main-plugins package disable themselves, this occur because the version of plugin package is actually newer than the compiz and compiz-core packages. To solve this problem i added a repository which had the latest versions of compiz and upgraded them. since the actual repositories for debian testing maintain the two packages with different versions.

Here is what happens when I try to update flash:
