Debian :: Installing Armhf Cross Tool Chain
Apr 25, 2016I tried to install the cross toolchain for armhf but, apparently, I borked something. I tried to follow the directions here : [URL] .... but he lost me at "The key fingerprint is: 084C 6C6F 3915 9EDB 6796 9AA8 7DE0 8967 1804 772E (you will need to install curl in a bare chroot)".
I have successfully installed the toolchain according to the gnuarmeclipse method and don't recall any references to "chroot"; it was pretty straight forward. That machine took a dump and I need to start over. I would like to install the toolchain without Eclipse getting in the way (and hogging memory).

Jun 29, 2010I recently installed Ubuntu 10.04 on my laptop. It's a Latitude D830. Everything's working well, which is why I decided to start customizing Ubuntu's look. My first stop was gnomelook.org and the other popular theme website for gnome(cant remember the name). Anyway, I could not find what I wanted in a theme so I turned to Ultimate Edition's website. I followed their instructions to add their repo to sources.list.
Then tried to install one of the theme packs, only to be told that 'usplash' could not be installed. So, I went ahead and googled the message and found out that 10.04 no longer uses 'usplash', it uses 'plymouth'. UE's website claims that their themes can be installed in any version of the official Ubuntu releases. All I had to do was follow their instructions to add the repo to sources.list, which I did. Can I force install a theme pack and bypass the 'usplash' error? maybe at the command line with apt?

Debian Configuration :: Configuring Ureadahead - No Pack Files In Folder
Jul 26, 2010First off I am aware ureadahead isn't in the repos, but thought this forum would fit the best regardless. I installed upstart, then the deb package on packages.ubuntu.com and rebooted. The /var/lib/ureadahead folder exists but there are no .pack files in that folder. I tried running "service ureadahead start" but it said "Service failed to start". Anyone used ureadahead on Debian?

Mar 16, 2010when i try to install opensuse 11.2 i do all the necessary steps but the installation won't start..i installed and used opensuse before im not clueless...before i reformatted my drive i was using windows 7,ubuntu and opensuse together.harddrive (160 gb) is sufficient and the installation was going smooth..i added kde and xfce from the software selection and enabled mbr and boot from /partition...Actually i tried all the alternatives (disabled mbr and /boot,enabled mbr and disabled /partition) but nothing changes..when the installation starts it says ''preparing the disks''but after waiting for 5 minutes and seeing nothing is changed i reboot and take the disk out of disk tray..where am i doing wrong and what i did wrong this time instead of last time that prevented the installation ...i thought my cd went corrupted so i downloaded and burned a new dvd from iso image.

In particular, I have been attempting to set it up to open with various privacy features enabled, similar to how I have been running Iceweasel. I have sorted most of these issues out, by starting Chromium as follows: /usr/bin/chromium-browser -disk-cache-size=0 --incognito --proxy-server=127.0.0.1:3128. I have not been able to find the steps to disable or block favicons from appearing in the Chromium browser ui. I was curious if someone might know what steps are necessary to disable the favicons in Chromium browser. Alternatively, I could disable them in either of squid3 or privoxy (the two are chained on my machine), although I am not sure how to block 'favicon,gif' via either squid3 or privoxy, which should disable most, if not all, favicons in Chromium.

Dec 13, 2009how to update my system online (for example my firefox 3.0 to 3.5) but i can't figure out how this possibly works. I tried the "online update" using Yast2 but apparently (according to Yast) there is nothing at all to be patched on my system. I tried to click on the Firefox-3.5.5 rpm in the repository web-interface and open it using "install software" but the process aborts because of unresolved dependencies. Is there an easy way to update software without having to download/install every dependency manually?
