Debian :: Where's The Menu File

Aug 11, 2010

I run a minimal Lenny install, with icewm. Everything works, but I'd like to change the menu around a bit. I've spent months reading all the docs I can find, both Debian and Icewm, and Googling for other hints. But I cannot find on my computer a file whose contents correspond with what actually appears on the screen. Is there such a file? Or does the menu get sort of assembled in situ from the various bits and pieces scattered around the filing system? Looked at: /etc/X11/icewm/menu, /usr/share/icewm/menu, /home/gerry/.icewm/menu (doesn't exist), /usr/share/menu/. None of these appears to be the right one, they all have items missing, or items for non-installed programs which don't appear. I'm perplexed.

Debian Programming :: Using Glib To Create Menu File

May 12, 2015

I am using GTK and C and on my application I have a Drag and drop feature.

Code: Select allicon_view = gtk_icon_view_new_with_model(create_and_fill_model(pALP));
   g_object_unref(pALP->list_store);      /* destroy model automatically with view */
   gtk_icon_view_set_selection_mode(GTK_ICON_VIEW(icon_view), GTK_SELECTION_SINGLE);
   gtk_icon_view_set_reorderable(GTK_ICON_VIEW(icon_view), TRUE);
   gtk_icon_view_set_text_column(GTK_ICON_VIEW(icon_view), COL_DISPLAY_NAME);

[Code] ....

The drag and drop works fine but when I exit the application and enter again, the changes of the drops are not saved, meaning the new location is not saved. I understand that in order to save the location of the drops I need to create a menu file and write some xml, But how do I do this? it there another way?

Software :: Gnome With Associated Applications For Registered File Types / Cant See Apps From "open With" Menu When Right Click To A File?

Oct 6, 2010

I am using Ubuntu 10.04 with Gnome 2.30.

I remove the applications which i don't use from main-menu. Now i can not see them from "open with" menu when i right click to a file.

Also it will be very nice if Ubuntu can show me on the "open with" menu the possibilities of applications which can open properly the file type which i want to open. I try to configure with ubuntu-tweak's "file type manager" but it is not possible to configure all of file types. I think Ubuntu's applications must to know which applications has to show for which file types. And i don't know how to do that. I need an application like this : url

I get a new user from the same OS, and i see that the same problem still there... For example many many compressed files, audio or graphic files are not associated with vlc or gimp.

I try to configure from system files of gnome but it is very complicated.

Ubuntu :: Lost In The Menu.lst File

Apr 17, 2011

I'm lost in the menu.lst file. I've edited it before, but now I can't get a handle on it. I've been trying different OS's over the year, lately Lubuntu. Now it's first in line (top of the order). I'd like (until 11.04 comes out next week) Ubuntu 10.10 to be first, with a 3 second delay.

Here's what I've got:

Code:
## should update-grub lock old automagic boot options
## e.g. lockold=false
## lockold=true
# lockold=false

Ubuntu :: Menu.lst File Non Existant ?

Jul 25, 2011

I am following a guide on how to change the boot order using a terminal on Ubuntu.

Link:[url]

At the Back Up Grub Settings part I do the " /boot/grub/menu.lst_backup " command and input my password and it gives me this:

So I hesitatingly decide to skip this part. At the Open in a Text Editor part I do the " /boot/grub/menu.lst " command in the terminal and it opens an empty file and I get a hunch...I go into /root/grub to check if the file even exists and I cannot even find the menu.Ist file anywhere.

I am guessing there may be a problem or the file is simply named differently for some reason, whats wrong or where the menu.Ist file is.

Ubuntu :: Finish Editing The Grub Menu.1st File?

Aug 10, 2010

I'm trying to find out which hard drive my vista installation is labeled in ubuntu so I can finish editing the grub menu.1st file.

All it says on the sourceforge page is

Quote:

Root - You likely have something along these lines "(hd0,1)". "hd0" refers to the your hard drive while 1 points to the partition. Note that for GRUB, partitions start at 0 and not 1. for example 0=Partition 1, 1=Partition 2 and so on.

It doesn't say how I can find out which one my vista is. So I need to know what my hard drive is in linux. Is it hd0,1 or hd0 or what?

Ubuntu :: Removing A Directory From The File Search Menu?

Sep 9, 2010

When I search using Places -> Search for Files..., there is an extra directory that shows up in the "Look in folder:" menu. This directory (jim) is unwanted and doesn't appear in the general Gnome menus (such as Places). The attached image of a screenshot shows what I mean.

I cannot figure out how to remove it in the search menu. Perhaps it was put there because I frequently search in that directory. Whatever the case, I'd like to get rid of it. I understand that this isn't the biggest computer problem ever posted in a forum. Nonetheless, I'd really like to hear how to remove that blasted directory.

Ubuntu :: Grub To Look At Config File And Display Menu?

Dec 24, 2010

This is an existing 10.4 installation, I decided to install XFCE through the package manager, hoping to get a little bit better performance. After I rebooted, I was greeted with the Grub command prompt. Not sure if this triggered this issue or whether it is convenience.I can boot into my system using the command line, however, I can't get Grub to use my menu again. Grub version is 1.98 (which I guess makes it Grub2). I've tried grub-install and grub-upate, neither of which returns any errors, however, after rebooting I still see the command prompt. I have verified that the config file in /boot/grub/grub.cfg does exist and appears to be correct as far as I can tell. Is there something I need to do to tell grub to look at this config file and display the menu?

Aug 16, 2011

I want to change the Alt+F key in terminal to not access thefile menu (can't think of what it is called but File, Edit, View, etc...at the top). General :: Bash Script Choice Menu From Csv File?

Jan 25, 2011

The script starts first a program I wrote earlier that collects specific data from 3 online csv files and write a summary csv file called /Tribalwars/request.csv . The seperator used is ;

the csv file looks like this but can be any number of rows (but not to many mostly 3 - 5)

Title1;tile2;...;title15;
B1;B2;...;B15
C1;C2;...;C15
D1;D2;...;D15

Now the next part of the script, and that is what I want to change, asks me to manually input some data I have to copy paste from the csv file just created. I mean if i choose to continue to do my calculations for city 2, I need to copy-paste C1 for the first variable 'cityname' , copy-paste c2 for the second variable 'xxx',copy-paste C3 for the third variable 'yyy',copy-paste C15 for the fourth variable 'points'

Then it starts new calculations etc, witch only these variables.

Now could it be possible to make a menu from the csv file with only the according cells on the screen and that I only have to choose a row from the menu?

3. I do not see anything through which I can see the applications installed.
4. I am not able to access any drives of windows through this. It says access denied.

Nautilus is installed, so I can create a launcher for it. I'm merely curious whether this is a change or bug in FC 13? Or should I suspect that I myself deleted the file browser launcher accidentally? The machine is a laptop and I find the mousepad awkward to use.
