Debian Multimedia :: Change The Dropshadow Color In Xcompmgr?

Oct 24, 2010

This would be really neat, but I'm not sure how to do it.

Is there a way to change the dropshadow color in xcompmgr so it's blue/orange/something other than black?

Debian Multimedia :: Change Desktop Fonts Color

Apr 21, 2015

poking around in the system settings nor Google are cooperating, so: How do I change the colour of the font on my desktop? I'm running Cinnamon (on Sid) and I've got a background with a lot of black in it, which makes the names of icons impossible to read. I know what everything is, of course, but I'd still like to be able to see what it is.

Debian Multimedia :: Xcompmgr 'master' - Rounded Window Borders Don't Draw And Redraw Properly When Using The Terminal (gnome-terminal And The LXDE And Xfce Ones)

Aug 26, 2011

I find xcompmgr more than adequate for making a desktop look pretty modern, and I don't like the more extravagentCompiz gimmicks - but there is one thing that irritates when using xcompmgr which someone here might have worked round.

Rounded window borders don't draw and redraw properly when using the Terminal (gnome-terminal and the LXDE and Xfce ones) or system monitor and moving them from their default place. You get this little white botch at the corners. I'm not massively technical and I'm ambivalent about how much more I want to learn as I have plenty of creative outlets already, but I would like to solve this. Somehow xcompmgr is treating these programs as a different class? It's capable of drawing the window borders properly as it is just these two programs that get botched. Possibly this doesn't get noticed as maybe people usually use xcompmgr with openbox and LXDE and their square window borders. I did do a search but there was nothing matching what I saw.

Debian Configuration :: Change Prompt Color In Bash Shell?

Jan 13, 2010

I am getting more and more comfortable working with the shell, thus I would like to change its prompt color to my liking, as it will be easier for me to distinguish commands vs. outputs.

I've read a couple of instructions of how to change the .bashrc file and am familiar with what the codes in PS1 mean. Except, this file can be intimidating to newbie eyes.

Where exactly on the file is it that I need to make the change?

Here is what I am trying to do. I would like my prompt to like exactly like the prompt I use in Backtrack - which consist in two different colors, one for the host and another for the pwd. Here is what the Backtrack .bashrc file looks like:

# /etc/profile: This file contains system-wide defaults used by
# all Bourne (and related) shells.
# Set the values for some environment variables:
export MINICOM="-c on"
export MANPATH=/usr/local/man:/usr/man:/usr/X11R6/man:/usr/local/share/man:/usr/bin/man:/usr/share/man
export HOSTNAME="`cat /etc/HOSTNAME`"

[Code]....

I also read that in order to have the same results when I log in as root, I will have to copy the modified .bashrc file into /root

Ubuntu :: Can't Change Top Bar Color And Icons

Jun 3, 2011

Just installed Ubuntu 11.04 where by default the top bar, where the ubuntu log and the time hangs out, is this nice dark humanity theme that fits in wonderfully with ambiance. I am not all sure what happened... as far as I know all I did was update the system and now the top has much more of a kde/clear looks theme too it. I want the old look back. I looked through the appearance app and cssm and couldn't seem to find the settings I need. What do I need to do to change it back? Also, as a completely unrelated question, I would love it if I could change the order of the apps in the unity bar in addition to which apps have icons there.

Ubuntu :: Karmic - How To Change The Color Depth

Mar 11, 2010

I am running Karmic Koala on a Dell Precision M90, and have some problems with my color depth, or at least that's what I believe. I have googled this problem numerous times, reading a lot about /etc/X11/xorg.conf, and have created numerous files in that location, with all manners of (probably) valid contents. I have yet to try invalid contents, in the hope that Linux is reading the file, and doing so would crash the system. This is my current xorg.conf, after many iterations:

Code:

Section "ServerLayout"
Identifier "X.org Configured"
Screen 0 "Screen0" 0 0
InputDevice "Mouse0" "CorePointer"

[code]....

Now, is there some other place to change this? Should I sacrifice more virgins to Cthulhu, or is Hastur the one to ask in these situations?
