I have a Acer emachine E732z laptop. I have installed debian squeeze gnome, but it is unable to play audio through laptop speaker. The (3.5mm)audio jack is working fine and I can play audio through it. I have also installed Linux mint, but no audio(in speaker and audio jack). There is no such problem in Windows7.

I am using Dell Vostro 1520 with Debian Lenny installed. My problem is that I am getting sound through both my headphone and laptop speakers. But it works fine in Windows XP.

I am unable to play audio CDs. I have 2 CD drives and upon insertion of of a CD into the top drive, it notices the CD and asks what I want to do... Play with Kaffeine results in it opening, but then nothing happens. When I do the same thing with the CD in the bottom drive, it plays the first track of the CD but nothing else. Every time. With different CDs.

After hours of googleing I'm stumped.When MPD is playing audio, I cannot play audio in another app (ie Totem/VLC).MPD runs under the mpd user. Alsa config is default (as far as I can tell, it configures itself automatically now). System is squeeze, up to date.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI installed Xubuntu to a flashdrive using unetbootin. Since I only have a 2GB drive I installed Fluxbox instead of XFCE to save space. I install alsa-utils to try to get some audio going. aplay and speaker-test gets nothing at all. Both as sudo and a reg user. I have turn up the volume on everything in alsamixer. I believe the relevant drivers are loaded.

okay, here are the details: can't play any audio with amarok when desktop effects are enabled because the minute a window is moved, it will distort the audio. even when disabling desktop effects, some applications still cause this. can't play videos videos even with desktop effects disabled because of the same reason.
i just switched from ubuntu and when i ran version 11.04, i had to disable kms to do anything. i tried on opensuse 11.4 and the audio was flawless but the gfx went all to hell.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm running 10.04 on a Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Pi 1505 laptop. Normally, when I plug my headphones in, all sound is diverted to them. I haven't found anything in sound preferences that changes this.(Under Sound Preferences, Output tab, there's a dropdown called Connector.It has options: "Analog Heaphones", "Analog Output" and "Analog Speakers" but they don't seem to make a difference.) I'd like to leave my headphones plugged in all day and setup my machine to play all sounds through my speakers (including Skype ringing), except Skype calls, which should play through my headphones. Skype has a feature to split the ringing and call sounds, i.e. play them on different devices, but the only option in each dropdown is "PulseAudio Server (local)".

I have tried to use the extensions toggle-touchpad and touchpad-indicator that claim to be able to do this, but neither will load properly. They show up with a little exclamation-point-triangle in the "Tweaks" panel saying "Error loading extension". How to get Jessie gnome system succeeded in getting their touchpad disabled via a simpe toggle mechanism?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI just installed Fedora 14 (running KDE) on my HP DV6Z-SE. It came pre-packaged with Windows 7 and I am running a dual-boot (I kept Windows for gaming purposes). Anyway, problem is I am unable to play media sounds. I've tried playing my music (all OGG Vorbis) on both DragonPlayer and VLC, to no avail. When I go to Phonon, I have two options for prefered devices, "Redwood HDMI Audio [Radeon HD 5600 Series] Digital Stereo (HDMI)" and "Internal Audio Analog Stereo".
When I test them, the Radeon one never plays sound, while the Internal Audio plays the test sound sometimes (rarely). I tried moving the latter up the preference order, but it changed nothing.

I am having trouble running audio cd's in my second ubuntu 9.10 machine. However normal cd's run in the drive and I have tested the cd's on my first machine.
Under computer the cd drive icon disappears.
For some reason in Ubuntu 9.10 my DVD burner will not mount with an audio CD in it (as in, it won't read any audio CDs). I have been able to run DVDs, data discs, and even burnt a few discs - it just will not read an audio CD.

Either it does not load, or once in awhile it also shows a message saying something like "cd player not configured", - which is odd because Suse is able to use it for installing additional programs and such from the Suse Dvd.
