It's easy to find how to add more choices for the Nautilus contextual menu (with nautilus-actions or nautilus-scripts) but my problem is different: I want to remove some choices! I use Squeeze and when I right-clic on a file there is a lot of clutter in the contextual menu. I want to remove some of these choices (send the file to someone, sign this file, encrypt this file, etc).
View 2 RepliesI uninstalled xmms player quite a long time ago. I think when I had hardy heron. Currently I'm on 10.04. When I right click a .mp3 file I still have the option to play with xmms player showing up. Even if I choose an "other application" the xmms player option remains stickied to the top.Does anyone know how I can remove this entry? I did a lot of searching but couldn't find a solution.
View 2 Replies View RelatedNew to Debian I installed ABCDE for ripping my CDs. My question is stupid but I could not sort this situation even going through the web or documentation. It works fine now BUT... when ABCDE retrieve multiple playlists (#1, #2, #3, etc.) it show them then ends with (END) blinking at the bottom of the terminal. If I make a RETURN I get nothing. If I type EXIT it shows "No next tag (press RETURN)" but RETURN has no effect !
When there is only ONE playlist (or no playlist available to retrieve) it works really fine.ce.

I am sure that this is very simple but I can't seem to figure out how to get the bugger off of Nautilus.
I was playing with Banshee and installed the banshee-extension-soundmenu package to get the Banshee control in the Indicator Applet Sound Menu.
I had so many problems with Banshee crashing and using up my system resources that I decided to stop using it. I deselected the Sound Menu option from Banshee's Preferences>Extensions, then I uninstalled the banshee-extension-soundmenu package.
However after this the Sound Menu is still showing the Banshee control. Is there a way to get rid of it?
In Windows Explorer, if a file is focused, press Menu Key on keyboard, context menu will show on top of the file. But in Nautilus, the same action shows context menu where the mouse cursor is. That's a bit annoying. Is there anyway to make it work like Windows?

With Debian Lenny, as with Fedora Goddard, it is possible to see ID3 tags when right-clicking on a audio file in Nautilus, but oddly this feature is gone with a fresh Debian Squeeze installation. View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm a user of Kicad, a schematic/printed circuit design suite. Kicad uses the extension '.mod' for its component module library files. When I view these files in Nautilus, (or one of my other file managers), they are displayed with a music note, and the file type is shown as 'Amiga SoundTracker audio'. I've never had such a file on any of my computers, and I'm fairly certain I never will. However, I have lots of Kicad module files on several computers. How can I make Nautilus report the correct filetype, or at least report an unknown filetype so my PCB libraries don't look like music files?
Here's what I've tried so far. I searched my whole system for files containing the string 'Amiga SoundTracker'. The only files that came up were three XML files: freedesktop.org.xml, mime.xml, and x-mod.xml.In each of these files I found one line that referred to both the extension '.mod' and the phrase 'Amiga AoundTracker'. (Also, in each case the line of code was the only one in its file that referred to the extension '.mod'). I commented out only this line in each of the three files, saved, and re-booted. After re-boot I confirmed that my changes to the files had persisted, yet my file managers still report my library files as 'Amiga SoundTracker'.Can I correct these filetypes, or am I out of luck?
I'm running a Debian squeeze system on AMD64, and with recent aptitude safe-upgrade the automounting of gnome/nautilus broke. Now if you click on a usbdrive it give this error: "Unable to mount 'volumelabel' Not Authorized".Previous it automatically mounted it, making/removing mount points as needed in /media, or you could mount by clicking on the drive icon in nautilus. (It varied a bit with package updates, but i didn't worry too much)Anyone got any ideas what could be wrong? I'm lost where to start, and systems nautilus or gnome-volume-manager use to mount things.

As of today I can't seem to use the search feature of Nautilus (in GNOME 3). Say I open my home folder and press Ctrl-F to get the search bar. Whatever I type, as soon as I stop typing and Nautilus should start the search process, it just freezes completely. The cursor stops blinking and that's it, all I can do is run `killall nautilus` from a terminal. According to the System Monitor nothing is really using CPU.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a problem with nautilus thumbnails since a few days. I checked they are indeed generated in .thumbnails, but all I got in nautilus is the "loading.." icon instead of the thumbnail, for all kind of files (pdf, image, video..) + a high cpu load.
I really don't see what to look at here, didn't found any trace of error in several logs/debug tool like gdb (and btw does nautilus have log abilities?)
I don't know which change could have triggered this (it used to work fine), maybe adding the i386 compatibilty with "dpkg --add-architecture i386" ? (I did this a few days ago in order to install acrobat reader)
Also I've been copying all of the home folder files from my previous ubuntu account to the new debian one, maybe I broke something in the process ?

By pressing 'properties' on a folder it freezes and I have to do killall nautilus && nautilus to get it working again. I have found no fix when googling (saying some packages that isn't installed is the problem).
It just takes a really long time to load based on the CPU usage.
I'm using Debian Squeeze amd64. I have a disk with 4 partitions (Debian, Windows7, Data and Swap). I've finished the installation of Debian Squeeze using Installer loader from Windows. But the Installer menu is still appear on Windows Boot Manager.
I've try to uninstall the "Installer Loader" from Windows and I got an error message about BCDEDIT (if I'm not wrong), during uninstallation process.
I ignore it, and continue the uninstallation process until complete. But, After I reboot my computer, the Installer menu is still appear on Windows Boot Manager.

View 11 Replies View RelatedI installed Debian without desktop enviroment and then I aptitude installed fluxbox, everything worked fine, but I wanted to try LXDE so I purged fluxbox and installed LXDE.But my old computer is too slow now. I purged the LXDE, but it is still here and it didn`t remove as many packages as it installed them, I also removed lxde-core, but it continues to work.
How could I get back to non-desktop enviroment without reinstalling the whole system?
I am not sure if this is a qGIS issue or something to do with my desktop themes? In both KDE and GNOME Classic qGIS 2.12 does not have a menu bar, but only toolbars. What can be possible causes of this? In KDE the Windows Decorations are set to BE II preview, with a customized Desktop theme. Could this cause the menu bar not showing?
