Debian :: How To Run Unetbootin To Install Windows Iso Image
Jun 5, 2010
Debian 5.0
Unetbootin - linux version
Window-7.iso
On "Distribution" of Unetbootin drop-list I can't find Windows. However the Windows-7.iso is on Debian. I can't run Unetbootin Windows version here. Is there a solution?

My old HDD died. I have 10.10 installed on a usb stick. This is a full installation not a LiveCD. I downloaded the live CD and Unetbootin.
Can I use unetbootin to create a bootable 'LiveCD' onto a partition of my new hard drive?
Without a CD drive, I can't think of any other way to get an installation onto my new HDD
EDIT - got ubuntu installed but had to do it at work, so i am still curious as how one would proceed with only a USB (full installation) and a blank HDD with no access to any other computers.

I'm on Squeeze and I've tried transferring the 11.04 .iso to a 1G USB using Unetbootin and using dd. Both bypass the Live session immediately and dump me right back into grub. Ubuntu and Google are only giving instructions for Ubuntu or Windows.

I have tried using UNetbootin to install Ubuntu Netbook Remix (Lucid) on my Toshiba NB205 and am having no luck. Both it and Kubuntu NR will boot from live USB and seemingly install successfully, but when I select the Ubuntu option, it hangs and drops me down to BusyBox with initramfs.
When UNR was distributed as a .img file, I could use Canonical's USB image .exe to prepare the USB drive and it always worked like a charm, but now UNetbootin fails me all too often. I don't really have access to another Ubuntu box to run usb-creator with, so has anyone had any success with any other install method? I am dual booting with Windows 7.

I got to go to a competition and I have to use debian and win server 2008 in that comp. With the smallest (about 300MB) image, I couldn't add functions because the computer isn't allowed to connect internet, no APT. then, do I need to download all the images? I saw that full image was really huge.

I've a problem running jessie on a XEN supervisor; my running kernel and the installed kernel image differ, because the host system forces the kernel at boot time. Current loaded kernel is
Code:
Select all$ uname -r
3.18.12
But I'm not able to install this version from the standard repository.
Code:
Select all# apt-cache search linux-image
linux-headers-3.16.0-4-amd64 - Header-Dateien für Linux 3.16.0-4-amd64
linux-image-3.16.0-4-amd64 - Linux 3.16 für 64-Bit-PCs

linux-image-amd64-dbg - Debugging symbols for Linux amd64 configuration (meta-package)

linux-image-2.6.32-5-xen-amd64 - Linux 2.6.32 for 64-bit PCs, Xen dom0 support
Now I'm facing issues loading kernel modules for iptables, because the module path does not exist. Is there an easy way to install a proper kernel image from the standard repositories?

Simple question, which implies lot of complexity, unfortunately : how to install Clonezilla and mount multi-partitions cloned image disk under DEBIAN ?
Wishing that one day Linux would be so easy and complete as Windows. But we are gaining more users, so Linux will have more apps

I'm attempting to install debian on my old ibook g3. Upon normal boot I get a black screen with a bar (attached image) I boot the kernel with init 1 and I see that I have no xorg.conf, so naturally I input xorg -configure. Attached is the log, as I am under Windows and read it. Let me know what you think and let me know if you need any output from me[URL].. p.s As I'm a new member I can't attach anything yet so I uploaded it to media fire. ibook.zip (includes xorg.log & IMG_20110707_203900.jpg /984.41 KB)

I wish to use my laptop to create a system for my Soekris 4801. I don't want to take the server down for the lengthy install ( took 6 hours last time, Fedora 5 ). I want to create the image on a USB drive for the 586 Soekris server on my 686 HP laptop. Then scp the image to the Soekris and reboot and configure the server.

WTF why is it with every update the devs try to break something. Might as well be using Ubuntu at this point and No I do not want to install Stable. Todays updqate would bring in linux-image-2.6.39-1-686-pae linux-image-686-pae, but my CPU Single core Intel Pentium M (-UP-) cache 1024 KB flags (sse sse2) bmips 1196.07 clocked at 600.00 MHz doesn't use PAE so it told me to remove linux-image-686 and to install linux-image-486. So more shiny crap that doesn't support older hardware, it is getting to be as bad as Microsoft.
Why don't I just go upgrade or buy new hardware with every new shiny crap that wants to upgrade. If it isn't broken do NOT fsck with it.

I am trying to upload some pics on my Facebook account using Firefox. When I click on Facebook's file upload icon, Firefox bring up a 'File Upload' window. I noticed that smaller image file is previewed on the lower right hand corner, while bigger image file is not. Is there anyway I can change this behavior or maybe change what Firefox is using to browse my files?

And when i open my flash drive, nothing is there and the used space is 80KB...its really empty

I know of two utilities on Windows to burn Linux live distros on USB keydrives: UNetBootIn and Universal-USB-Installer.I know nothing about what is required to make a USB keydrive bootable and run from it, and I was wondering if...
- those two utilies have the exact same features, and just use a different UI
- there are yet other utilies for Windows I should know about?

I recently installed Damn Small Linux using unetbootin. Booting Linux from unetbootin seems a lot like booting from a liveCD, so I'd like to mount my hard drive and see what I can do. Unfortunately it looks like Damn Small Linux has not mounted it automatically, and I'm having trouble finding my drive and mounting it from the /dev directory. There are several devices named /dev/*da* and I don't know which is my hard drive. My computer is an HP Mini netbook, so the drive is probably one of the new "solid state" drives if that affects anything. What can I do to find and mount my hard drive from unetbootin?
