Debian Hardware :: Connector Difference Between 3.5 And 5.25 Drives On Drive Select Line?

May 17, 2010

I am trying to read a 5 1/4 in. floppy disk using an Intel D865 PERL motherboard, at 3 GHz. Bios was set to read this floppy. The system Lenny 2.6.31 i386 can't detect the 5.25 drive. Drive select seems not to be responding on the 5.25 drive. When connecting a 3 1/2 in. drive to the same motherboard connector (after changing the BIOS setting appropriately), r/w is ok under both linux and XP. I have tried three floppy 5.25 drives and different cables. All known to be ok on another box. I have tried XP and another linux, Etch. I have installed the latest available Bios upgrade from Intel. Upgraded from 0061 to 0089 bios versions. Is this a possible connector difference between 3.5 and 5.25 drives on the drive select line? The cable drive end connectors are different between the two drives.

Debian Configuration :: PIP Installation Fails For MySQL Connector Python

Apr 6, 2016

I got assigned to a project, where the installation is done over ansible. As I'm new in linux, python, django, ansible I wanted to try this out on a empty linux debian.

Code: Select alluname -a

Linux DebianABC 3.16.0-4 amd64 #1 SMP Debian 3.16.7-ckt20-1+deb8u4 (2016-02-29) x86 64 Gnu/Linux

When I now run my ansible playbook it tries to install mysql and suddenly I get an error:

Code: Select all:stderr: DEPRECATION: --allow-external has been deprecated and will be removed in the future. Due to changes in the repository protocol, it no longer has any effect.

DEPRECATION: --allow-unverified has been deprecated and will be removed in the future. Due to changes in the repository protocol, it no longer has any effect.

Could not find a version that satisfies the requirement mysql-connector-python==1.0.12 (from -r /home/abc/abcTest/requirements.pip (line 36)) (from versions: )

No matching distribution found for mysql-connector-python==1.0.12 (from -r /home/abc/abcTest/requirements.pip (line 36))

FATAL: all hosts have already failed -- aborting

So I checked the target machine and tried to run

pip install -vvv -r requirement.txt mysql-connector-python

As version 1.0.12 is an old version, I was searching and tried the following: [URL] ....

But also if I run the installation by direct download I have the same error message:

Code: Select allabc@DebianABC:/home/abc/abcTest$ pip install -r requirements.pip -vvv mysql-connector-python
Collecting http://cdn.mysql.com//Downloads/Connector-Python/mysql-connector-python-1.0.12.tar.gz (from -r requirements.pip (line 36))
Starting new HTTP connection (1): cdn.mysql.com
  "GET //Downloads/Connector-Python/mysql-connector-python-1.0.12.tar.gz HTTP/1.1" 200 230923

[Code] ....

I was reading about the version requirements from PEP: [URL] .... but as the version looks ok, this should not be the problem.

Software :: Top: Select The Shown Fields From The Command-line?

Feb 8, 2010

I want to select the fields which the 'top' command shows from the command-line. I can do that in the interactive mode when I press 'F', but I would love to do it via parameters (or with a configuration file, if it doesn't work otherwise). The fields I'd want to leave out are triggered by these letters: AHIOQTWMBackground:I installed the "compa" Gnome applet and want to always see what program currently uses up most ressources. For example, Pidgin sometimes starts using up 100% of 1 CPU and I have to kill it and start it again. I can already filter 1 or 2 programs from the 'top' command using the 'head' and 'tail' commands, but there are too many fields for my purposes by default. I could make a C program that filters those fields I need, but I think there must be a simpler solution.

Applications :: Difference Between Diff And Dwdiff And Other Cmd Line?

Apr 19, 2010

1/ I haven't catch the difference between dwdiff, diff or dircomp If one wants to only output files (JPEG, doc, etc.), which have been created, absent or modified The command:

diff -r -q

works well, any advantage for another command? Subtilities between commands for issues like:

* identical content, but renamed files
* identical names & date & weight, but different content (virus)

2/ Is there a way to tell diff to store in a specific directory all missmatched files?
Something as

diff - r -q oldBackup actualData /media/sda1/discrepant

Where diff would store in media/sda1/discrepant all files which are new or modified after comparison between oldBackup and actualData

Ubuntu :: Difference: Run Program From Rc2.d Or From Root Command Line?

Mar 26, 2010

Example: In rc2.d I have S99test. In it: Code: #!/bin/sh mplayer -playlist "/music/Thom Yorke - The Eraser" Reboot; hear the loveliness; press pause (lirc setup)...still loveliness.

Login as root; "pkill mplay";hear nothing; "/etc/rc2.d/S99test"; more loveliness; press pause...silence! I know that i the former case, mplayer is assigned (for lack of a proper term) to a session, e.g. tty1. Not so in the latter. But why should a program like mplayer not receive (or ignore?) input from lircd, simply because it doesn't have a session? And how can I get mplayer (or any program run from boot scripts) to work with other programs (like lircd)?

General :: Difference Between Cron And Command Line Environment?

Feb 18, 2010

so i have a few shell scripts that execute wonderfully when i type them at the command line but they fail when they are run from cron.

for example, if i run a script from command line that contains

Code:
shopt -s nullglob

to prevent problems with for f in *.mp4 type loops, it works fine from terminal command line but when called from cron, it gives an error->

Code:
/home/centralsqwall/Videos/videochecker.sh: 91: shopt: not found

a couple other random errors as well...

so there is some difference in the shell from cron and the terminal?

i'm running ubuntu 9.10, #!/bin/bash

what are the commands i should be using to echo my environment or simulate cron environment from the terminal?

Server :: Drives Change Device Ids While On-line?

Dec 4, 2010

I'm not sure what to make of this. I have setup an Ubuntu 10.10 server with two software raids.md0 is a four disk raid5 - 3TBmd1 is a two disk mirror - 300GBI think I have a drive failing (and am going to replace it regardless, but I have to take an outage), what appears to happen is it comes on-line with one id (/dev/sda) then something happens AFTER the rebuild completes and the drive changes to another id (in this case /dev/sdh) and puts the array in a failed state. Is this some sort of protection mechanism to prevent degradation to the array? When setting this up, presumably before the disk started to fail, Ids seemed to jump from reboot to reboot and caused me all kinds of issues. Also, neither device appears to return info after the change.

Code:
bwoods@MediaServer:~$ cat /proc/mdstat

OpenSUSE Install :: Any Substancial Difference Between Gnome Terminal Or Hitting 'c' To Bring Up Command Line

Feb 25, 2010

so the safest way to go about this is to assume I know nothing. I mean, I have a rough Idea of what a kernel is, no idea what a shell is, etc. I do consider myself computer savvy, but know NOTHING about linux and thats why I'm Diving in, hopefully not too much, this is just to give you an idea of what we're working with here.

After several install attempts I kept getting a blank screen. Whether it be black, white, or the default gnome desktop (without any icons, and simple things like ctrl+alt+backspace just doesn't work, or anything else for that matter) I was ending up with a blank screen. Driver for moniter....maybe....but I did succesfully install it once, and it worked like a charm...shutdown properly, and the next day after work...Boom, same thing after startup.today I started from scratch and re-installed....samething, until I hit the power button, went from the dvd(iso) and did a fail safe, now my resolution is much better than it was the first time..Actual questions.....what did I do to fix it when failsafe never worked before?

Is there a way to save these settings, so I don't run into the problem again, because I don't even want to turn of my computer at this point? If i'm trying to dive in and learn the command line actions, is there any substancial difference between gnome terminal or hitting "c" to bring up the command line?

I have download the ISO, created an liveUSB (because my laptop dvd isn't working properly) and wanted to install openSUSE on the hard drive partition where currently Ubuntu is. So, I suppose that in order to do this I should choose the option "Import mount points" and select the Linux partitions (drive and swap) and that would be it.

Ubuntu :: MySQL Connector Not Found?

Jun 20, 2011

I installed Tomcat (apt-get install tomcat6 tomcat6-admin tomcat6-common tomcat6-user tomcat6-docs tomcat6-examples) and it runs without problems.

I installed MySQL (apt-get install mysql-server) and it seems to run without problems too.

I changed the default JRE (update-java-alternatives -s java-6-sun).

The weird thing is - if I put the connector-jar into my web application (WEB-INF/lib), the connection works. If I put the connector-jar into usr/share/java, it does not work. If I write the jar location into the CLASSPATH and try "java com.mysql.jdbc.Driver", I get a NoSuchMethodError:Main, which means, that the jar is found?!

The datasource in the tomcat context.xml is:

<Resource name="jdbc/myresource" auth="Container" type="javax.sql.DataSource" maxActive="100" maxIdle="30" maxWait="10000" username="username" password="password" driverClassName="com.mysql.jdbc.Driver" url="jdbc:mysql://localhost:3306/myschema" />

How can I make the database connection work without putting the jar into the WEB-INF/lib folder of the web application?
