Debian Configuration :: Keyboard Logitech DiNovo Edge Totally Stopped Working

Mar 28, 2010

I am suffering from the following problem: after updating udev from 125 (lenny) to 151 (squeeze) my wireless keyboard Logitech diNovo Edge totally stopped working (says it is disconnected). If I downgrade back to 125 all works fine again.

Ubuntu Installation :: Logitech Dinovo Edge - Usb Keyboard - Fail On 10.04 Upgrade

Aug 7, 2010

I had a hell of a time getting 10.04 to work, because I only have a Logitech Dinovo Edge keyboard, and it stopped working after I upgraded. After grub, I'd get to the login screen, and the keyboard wouldn't do anything.

First, I dug up a mouse that did work. Then I logged in by clicking the Human Accessibility icon on the login screen. Somewhere in there, I was able to bring up an on screen keyboard. With the on screen keyboard, I could now login. Under system>preferences>bluetooth, I was able to, after some fiddling and plugging and unplugging, get the keyboard paired to the bluetooth dongle. Anyway, it seems pretty obvious now that my original bluetooth pairing was lost with the 10.04 upgrade, and I just needed to re-pair. I don't remember having such problems on previous upgrades, though.

Debian Hardware :: Bluetooth Keyboard - Logitech Edge?

Jun 1, 2011

Used to be it worked fine natively in 'direct' mode. I didn't need to do any bluetooth setup, I just booted and it worked in BIOS and in Debian. Then one day after a dist-upgrade it quit. I fussed with it for two days, finally installing the Bluez software and trying to make it work as a true bluetooth keyboard/mouse. That's how it's been for six months.

[Code]...

It will not hardware pair once X is started. I've tried it with the bluetooth service started and stopped. Something is preventing it from pairing.

OpenSUSE Hardware :: Logitech Dinovo BT Dongle Switch To HCI Mode?

Jul 20, 2011

I recently migrated from Gentoo Linux to openSuSE because I no longer have that much time to maintain the sane state of my system, and want my computer to just work when I need it.. So far openSuSE surprised me and I was able to configure my system almost completely without even touching the shell where I almost lived in the Gentoo days..

However, I'm not able to make openSuSE automatically detect my logitech BT dongle (as part of a dinovo keyboard and mouse set) and switch it from HID to HCI mode so I'm able to use bluetooth.

What does work is this:

Code:
# /usr/sbin/hid2hci --method=logitech --vendor=046d --product=c70c

Then the dongle is switched to HCI mode, a bluetooth applet appears in gnome and I was able to pair with the keyboard, keypad, mouse and mobile phone

But I don't want to manually run that command each time, so I figured the best way is to let udev handle that (?).. As I didn't find any udev rules to perform such an action I tried creating one myself, however, I'm not sure that I'm doing it right /etc/udev/rules.d/70-hid2hci:

Code:
ATTRS{idVendor}=="046d", ATTRS{idProduct}=="c70[345abce]|c71[34bc]", RUN+="/usr/sbin/hid2hci --method=logitech --vendor=$attr{idVendor} --product=$attr{idProduct}"

But that doesn't seem to work..(yes I reloaded the udev rules using udevadm)

how do I make this work? And shouldn't it already work out-of-the-box?

Debian Configuration :: Ssh Randomly Stopped Working On Server?

Mar 15, 2010

I'm in somewhat of a sticky situation. ssh has just randomly stopped working on my server after a power failure. Everything else that doesn't rely on ssh is still working fine though. It can still receive mail and everything, just no ssh. Background on the server, running debian etch on a PPC machine.ssh is (supposed to be) running on port 2000. Even if I am physically logged into the machine I can't log in with ssh -p 2000 user@127.0.0.1.
I can ssh to and from any other machine on my network (the server can even ssh into another machine). So it isn't my network causing issues. It seems like the port 2000 is completely closed, if nmap the server's IP address I get PORT    STATE SERVICE

25/tcp  open  smtp
80/tcp  open  http
110/tcp open  pop3

Debian Configuration :: Plex Media Server Suddenly Stopped Working

Jan 27, 2016

My plex media server suddenly stopped working after years of no hassle use. This is the output of cat /proc/version = Linux version 3.2.0-4-amd64 (debian-kernel@lists.debian.org) (gcc version 4.6.3 (Debian 4.6.3-14) ) #1 SMP Debian 3.2.65-1+deb7u2

My problem is similar to this forum thread viewtopic.php?f=5&t=121945 where I can get it to start by running Code: Select all/usr/sbin/start_pms & but it's not my normal server configuration. I added a couple files to it and it seems to work except it doesn't start when I reboot. I have to run that command again. This is the init script I've been running for years...

Code: Select all----
#!/bin/sh
### BEGIN INIT INFO
# Provides:          plexmediaserver
# Required-Start:    $remote_fs $syslog $networking
# Required-Stop:

[code]....

My Debian skills are lacking to know how to proceed with troubleshooting what could have happened. Everything else seems fine, I just can't seem to get this application to run at startup or get back my old configuration...

Debian Configuration :: Squeeze X Login Stopped Working - Console Works

Mar 30, 2011

I have been using my system for couple of weeks, and normally update software when the icon is displayed on top bar (gnome). Last couple of days there were updates for X, and I am not sure whether that is the cause of my problem. Once bootup, I get the login screen. When enter the password the login screen keep coming back. there is no error about any password issue, or anything. It keeps prompt me to enter the password.

I could login back the following way.

1. ctrl + alt + F1 , and login with the same username/pwd as for X
2.change to root
3.pkill gdm3
4.exit from root to user privilege
5. startx

The system starts X correctly and no login screen is displayed. I could use the system as usual.

The only thing I did custom to my system was upgrading to the latest kernel (2.6.38) using the source. This was to get support for my hardware, but that was about a month ago. I do not see anything in /var/log (X, demesg etc).

Ubuntu Installation :: Unmitigated Disaster - Logitech Cordless Keyboard Is Not Working

Jun 28, 2011

I have been a keen user of Ubuntu since version 7.something. In that time I have updated, upgraded, or done clean installs of each new versions usually about 2 months after the release to enable small bugs to iron out. There have always been minor issues usually easily rectified via this forum. However the 11.04 release is the worst I have ever come across almost forcing me back to winblows. So what is my gripe. -- 7 hours downloading and upgrading -- to obtain a system that does nothing -- nada. zip. it booted came to the desktop and nothing, Unity doesn't respond, no applications open, and the shutdown didn't work.

So -- downloaded the ISO this morning did a clean install and eagerly went into my new system. First issue -- my logitech cordless keyboard is not working, never had an issue before. so plug in a USB one, which is what I am using now. Go to the 'system settings' (took me a while to find where they had gone) but couldn't find anything in the keyboard section to allow me to configure a cordless keyboard. Failure 1

Open banshee and ask it to load the music library. It does, then click for a file to play and --- no sound! so choose another track just in case and banshee crashes, and the icon disappears from the unity bar. Failure 2 As usual I have an Nvidea graphics card so one of the first things is to install the proprietary driver. Never had an issue before. this time it loaded (apparently) and then I do the restart to enable it, and when I get back in there is no top bar, the Unity bar sits there and won't slide in and out, and no applications will respond. BIG failure 3

Re boot into recovery mode and opt for safe graphics mode. System re boots - Top bar now appears, Unity remains inoperative, and when I click the shutdown icon to get to system settings --- crash and burn system shuts down.-- BIG failure 4 Re boot into recovery mode (again) run "fix broken packages" DPKG runs for a while replacing and upgrading hundreds of packages. When finished reboot -- same issue desktop stuffed! Currently working off the live CD. To the developers -- maybe you are pushing ahead too quickly now. this sort of overall failure will lose more users than gain. I don't usually complain but as my title says for me Natty is an unmitigated disaster.

Debian Configuration :: Sid: Laptop Keyboard + Touchpad Not Working After Upgrade?

Apr 13, 2011

on my netbook I have a Debian unstable/sid system. A few days ago I did an apt-get (dist-)upgrade which I think also updated the X-Server. Since then my netbooks keyboard and touchpad are not working as soon as the desktop is started (I think gdm).
The Keyboard works during the Grub selection and also in recovery mode (Root Terminal), so I'm sure its not a hardware problem. Could it be that the X-Server unloads the kernel modules for those two devices? Also if I plug in a USB keyboard or mouce they are working.

It's just your typical wireless keyboard & mouse combo. The K350 works fine after the install.

Debian Multimedia :: Logitech G11 Keyboard On Squeeze - Global Shortcuts In KDE

Jul 3, 2011

I have a Logitech G11 keyboard with additional function keys from G1 to G18 and I added those keys to my XKeysymDB and ~/.xmodmaprc accordingly. According to xev, all those keys are working properly, eg.:

$ xev
...
KeyPress event, serial 35, synthetic NO, window 0x3400001,
root 0x15d, subw 0x0, time 3518287, (167,-33), root:(1501,366),
state 0x10, keycode 175 (keysym 0x15000001, G1), same_screen YES,
XLookupString gives 0 bytes:
XmbLookupString gives 0 bytes:
XFilterEvent returns: False

Now, if I try to bind any of those keys to global shortcuts in KDE I got a dialog telling: "The key you just pressed is not supported by Qt." these keys were working perfectly well in Lenny and KDE 3.5. I did some research, and it really seems that this is a some kind of "feature" in KDE 4.2 or Qt. So, is there any way to fix this easily in Squeeze without switching to Wheezy or even Sid?

Ubuntu :: Keyboard Stopped Working For One User?

May 30, 2010

I'm running 10.04, typically using the default gnome session. I locked my screen overnight, and when I came back the keyboard wasn't working. Before anyone asks, yes it is still plugged in. Here's where it gets weird. I logged out using the mouse, and switched to another user on the system, and it works fine. I have keyboard input on the gdm log on screen and for other users. I've tried about every possible combination of logging on/off and rebooting and nothing seems to work. Is this an Xorg thing or a gnome thing? Any ideas what to do from here? I can still get to a terminal through another user and then "su" to my user so I can run "sudo" commands. So in other words, no need to bring in a live CD or a clean install at this point, but I don't really know where to start with this one.

UPDATE: I switched session types to LXDE, and the keyboard DOES work for my user. However, when going back to gnome it still doesn't work. I guess that seems to point towards it being a gnome thing, not Xorg.

Ubuntu :: Keyboard Stopped Working Under Gnome In Lucid?

Mouse still works fine. But the keyboard still works fine when typing in my password, and if I start KDE instead it also works OK. So it doesn't seem to be hardware failure.I see from googling that others have had similar problems, but most seem to have been on installation, and involved either VMWare or USB keyboards. I'm not using either of those. When it broke I was trying to build PyCairo into an alternative installation of Python2.5, don't know if this is relevant, if some key package got somehow corrupted.
