CentOS 5 :: Postfix + Procmail - Pop And Imap Ports Blocked By Firewall

Jul 11, 2009

Small server running 5.3 - stock postfix configured to use Maildir. Dovecot configured but both pop and imap ports blocked by firewall. Access to mail is via Squirrelmail via https. Configured to virus scan via ClamAV. Works just fine. Now I want to add procmail filtering. So I create these two files - ~/.forward and ~/.procmailrc in my user home dir: "|exec /usr/bin/procmail -f- || exit 75 #mpeters"

Server :: Postfix + Spamassassin + Procmail + Spamass-milter - Cannot Get To Work

Feb 2, 2010

I have Postfix and Spamassassin setup on Ubuntu Server 9.10. The mail is working perfectly. Spamassassin is correctly marking messages as spam. My problem is with the milter and procmail. On past servers I was able to reject spam based on score via the spamass-milter. For whatever reason I can not get it to work. I have also tried with procmail, again, it does not work. Here are the relative lines in their respective config files:

Security :: Php Includes Blocked By Firewall?

Jun 18, 2009

If I use my current iptables firewall settings my php includes from my own site get blocked by the firewall. If I use accept all tcp and udp it still does not work. If I use a default policy of accept all, then the php includes work which is not safe. I am running a drupal 6 site on a centos 5.3 vps with apache 2.2.0 and php 5.2.6 w/ safe mode on. He is my current iptable configuration.

Yes, the port that I'm trying to open is also allowed. Router is a Linksys BEFSR41 v4.3, should you care

Server :: Ftp: Vsftpd With Firewall - External Ip Is Blocked Out With X

Jan 3, 2010

i have a server running vsftpd, and when i connect to it from the server itself using my externel ip address, everything checks ok, and i can browse files. but when i try to do the same on a windows computer on my network, this is what happens: [my externel ip is blocked out with x]

[Code]....

now mind you, my linux server is running from port forwarding from my router, which is connected to the main computer, and i have ssh and squid running as well. not sure if those two have any affect on the service. i think this is a problem with the firewall, because i have read somewhere that multiple ports need to be open for a passive ftp to work.

Ubuntu Networking :: Cannot Access Certain Ports Via Web Browser, Outgoing Port Blocked

Aug 12, 2011

I have a vps server running certain services which can be accessed via a web browser (e.g webmin control panel), but I have recently been unable to access these services from my home machine using Firefox 5.0, running ubuntu 11.04.

Example:

I can access the server on port 80 fine, eg: [URL]

However I cannot access my webmin control panel on: [URL]

The pages takes ages to load and then times out. Same with transmission-daemon on: [URL]

Everything is set up fine on my server, the ports are open in firewall etc. and I can access these pages fine from my work computer.

This has only started happening in the last day or two and had been working fine up till then. I have not messed around at all with the firewall on my home machine. I have tried other browsers besides Firefox with same result.

Software :: Postfix - Delivers Mail To Unix Mailbox But Not IMAP?

Dec 22, 2010

I setup a postfix mail server. Tested it to make sure it was secure and all seemed good.I sent some test messages and see from the logs that mail is being delivered to the recipient. its only delivering mail to my user's local mbox on the linux server. IMAP appears to have its own mailbox and the two boxes are no linked. I was thinking it was an alias issue however I did at one point have the mailboxes to be the same.... now they are different... Here is the config file.... (I changed the domain names for privacy).

command_directory = /usr/sbin
daemon_directory = /usr/libexec/postfix

General :: Setup A Functioning Imap And Pop3 Mail Server Using Dovecot-postfix?

May 4, 2010

I'm somewhat familiar with Linux and became pretty decent at installing and configuring packages in Ubuntu. One of the things I was able to do with my tinkering was set up a functioning imap and pop3 mail server using dovecot-postfix. Now I'm experimenting with Slackware to get the feel of another distro, and I noticed that the mail server packages were already installed. On my client computer they can pick up that I have users configured and my mx record is working.

However it is failing to send mail saying that it is failing to relay the e-mail message and that the server responded 5.7.1 which was a problem that I was having in Ubuntu when first configuring the mail server. The fix was to edit the postfix.conf file and adding the localhost name of my server. Does anybody know of the file that I need to edit to make it possible to relay my messages with both pop3 and imap.

Debian Configuration :: Firewall Up But Ports Still Open

Sep 9, 2011

I have just switched over from firestart to gufw.I have set all incoming traffic to deny and all outgoing traffic to allow.I have rules set for incoming traffic, and have only opened 1 port on my system for torrents. My router also only has the same port opened which again is for torrents.I use "Network Tools" which is included on squeeze and do a portscan of 192.168.1.100 and 127.0.0.1 I get all kinds of crazy ports coming back as opened. What is even stranger is if I do a few scans, these ports change, so one port on one scan may come up as open, then it will disappear and a different port may show as open.

Mind you none but the torrent port is forwarded in my router, I have no idea what any of these other ports are, or why they are even showing up.What the heck is going on? I dont think this is normal? Am I at any higher risk for attack?

how to open firewall ports without using yast. The reason I'm asking is because I'm working on a .sh script for the installation of a couple of programs. Some ports need to be open for the programs to work, I find it really annoying to go to yast and type the ports manually every time. I've looked at /etc/sysconfig/SuSEfirewall2 but can't seem to find anything, I also know that after the changes I will have to stop start the firewall by running:

Is this possible? the software package I'm trying to use randomly chooses a port to use in the range of 32768-61000 and I don't feel comfortable having a port range that wide open on both machines.

Ubuntu Servers :: Firewall / Router Forward Ports

Sep 8, 2010

I have linux server setup on a network with 2 interfaces. One (eth0) is connected to the regular network and the other (eth1) has a DHCP server and transparent web cache listening on it. The machines connected on the eth1 side are on a different subnet and the linux server is there gateway. Untrusted machines are introduced to this network to keep them isolated.

This isolation works well, too well. There are a small set of resources on the regular network I would like to make available to machines on untrustworthy network. I think I need to use iptables but alas I've had no luck in piecing together the command I need (in one case looking myself out and having to physically reset the machine).
