I want to create a customize CD of selected application of centos & want same can be auto installed on fresh machine without any user interventions( like partition etc). I mean u just put the cd in drive & it directly give you login screen . that's all (but installation must be on HDD)

Fwiw, the reason I want to do this is that karmic's ambiance theme provides black tooltip backgrounds with white tooltop text, but eclipse (stupidly) uses the black tooltip background for content assist boxes while ignoring the tooptip text color and instead applying its own sytnax highlighting rules, which specify black text. This results in black text on a black background -- ugh!
I have some .loc files from geocaching's website. I wrote a special script that takes these files and converts them to my Bushnell GPS format and moves them into the correct folder. Now I'd like to associate a double click with my script. However, the .loc file shows up as "XML Document". yes, it's an XML document, but I only want .loc XML documents to be executed by my script. How can I give .loc files their own "type" so I can give them their own "Open With" application and not mess up every other xml file?

I am having a problem during a fresh install of CentOS 5.3 on an IBM Intellistation Z Pro 6221. I have tested the installation media (CDs). The install runs normally until I am asked to specify the appropriate keyboard.I take the default (English) and hit next. The keyboard and mouse keys become unresponsive though the mouse pointer moves. I can go no further than this. This behavior is the same whether I install in text mode or graphic mode. I have tried the noprobe installation option without success. The box I am doing the install on dual boots fine between Windows XP and CentOS 4.7 currently.Does anyone have an idea of what the problem may be?

It did create the launchers. It just put them in "Other" even though I told it to create them in "Internet" so they are there, but just not where I want them. That is okay since now I can add them to my favorites and put them in the order I want.
I guess I will like Gnome 3 better as I find tweaks to make it work like I want it to work. Still though, it is not nearly as user friendly as my heavily tweaked Gnome 2 with Compiz.Another question though: How do I get it to select and use a photo I want for the background instead of the stock images? Ok I just downloaded this program called Phex, it is a really cool program and i get it to run, but only from command line. I downloaded this program and its already compiled and works fine but i can only launch it from a command line by typing "java -jar phex.jar" I have created launchers before and they have worked, but this one just doesn't work. I have all permissions on the directory and the files, but how to create a launcher for this file.

And it must be a point-and-click GUI.For development I should be able to rely on Open-Source tools on linux only (that means no access to Windows or OSX)The target should be able to install the result relatively easily, that means any dependencies must be freely available, and the setup steps must be very minimal (probably means no installing development tools or running compilers)
My first thought was java, but the standard Swing GUI can look a bit ugly on some platforms. So I'm wondering if there's anything else. My next thought was C++/Qt, but I don't think I can cross-compile this from Debian for Windows or OSX, can I? Next I thought of python and PyQt, but it looks like PyQt isn't available for OSX. And finally I even thought of making some kind of web application running on a tiny web server of some kind, then accessing it with a native browser, but I'm pretty sure this doesn't meet the "easy to install" criteria. I'm finding this so tricky, do all the existing cross-platform applications use natively-compiled C++ for this? Or is there an obvious alternative that I'm overlooking?

Now I am trying to create an application for my N900 which uses an external .txt file. The package is created successfully, the application is installed successfully, however the binary does not see the .txt (maybe it is not in the package?).
I am using MADDE Developer 0.6.72 to create the project skeleton. I am using Qt creator for create the code. After once the code is created successfully then I am running the following commands in MADDE Developer 0.6.72 for the updated skeleton folder created above.
I writed the following lines into MADDE developer:

Our application is based on the C++ devlopment which requires so many of packages dependent on the Ubuntu OS, Graphics libraries, Development packages and other dependent libraries. So we need to configure all those every time in a new PC when we add. Is there any other way to do this job very easily and the any method to create our application executable to run in all PCs with the dependencies packages installed.

Nowadays we are facing some memory issues and its creates some kernel panic and then restarts the server. When i reported the issue to my application team, they asked me to come with the core dump. I googled it enough, then i set ulimit value as unlimited. (previously it was 0, then i made a entry in /etc/profile file as follows
ulimit -c unlimited) But still whenever my server restarts due to that kernel panic, it couldnt generate the core dump. My application was installed on /opt

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to create a CentOS based liveCD that mounts a NFS share and executes one script there. The NFS never mounts altough while logged I can mount it with the very same command that I use in the KS.
In the %post I have :

mount -o nolock 10.23.1.1:/csc/RemoteHome /mnt/nfs
I added the --log in order to debug, but nothing is written in /tmp/post.log. I tried redirection on the mount command with >> /tmp/debug.log but this is not written. Maybe during the post sequence /tmp is RO ? Anyway, I tried with ifup lo, service portmap start in the %post, but doesnt change (I even have a service : command not found in the live cd creator output).
