I have problem with connection to mssql 2000 from centos. i have installed php, freetds, unixOBDC on server Centos. My mssql server on another computer (windows xp). Now, when i tried to connect mssql with php : >> mssql_connect("192.168.179.100","sa","sa")

I am implementing an automated backup scheme so I created a shell script which first creates SQL dumps for all MySQL databases, then retrieves all websites from the /var/www directory of a remote server. The latter is working as I am using rsync to get the remote files. However, the MySQL dumps being retrieved are the ones from the local server which is not what I want. I want to get the SQL dumps from the remote server as well.I have a tunnel between the local and remote server which I can connect to without using any password (I added the public key to the authorized_hosts), so I tried to add the following code to the script:
ssh user@192.168.x.xxx
I then attempted to retrieve the SQL dumps and exited from the remote server. However this does not work as I still have to enter exit manually in the terminal for the SQL dumps to be retrieved from the remote host. I don't know why this is happening. This is what the script is trying to do:
//connect to remote server ssh user@192.168.x.xxx //retrieve SQL dumps
[code]...
Is there a way to connect to the remote host AND run the script's code on THAT remote host?
When I'm logged on to another host (e.g via ssh), how do I connect to the XServer of that machine (same user is logged in and is running a desktop (gnome))?
You may ask way I wish to do that: There are commands that don't open an X-Window, e.g. xinput, xhost, etc.. and there are situations where you want to run them from remote.
I install one server in my system(linux 5.0) and accessing that server through the 127.0.0.1 private ip address(lo). While i connect to a remote server for validating registry it gives me the error and unable to connect to remote server. here some of the files i give here in below to know my system network configuration
I installed dovecot on my server and now the imap and pop3 ports are open. But when I want to telnet it, it's not possible.Code: Trying 127.0.0.1...telnet: Unable to connect to remote host: Connection timed out. Also I can't any ports else. But I can connect to it from other computers. I tried to connect to this from my PC and it was successful.
I'm trying to connect with my server via telnet, but when i sent the command (telnet xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx Port) doesn't works and shows then follow error: Unable to connect to remote host: Connection refused, It happens with any port. Is strange but my telnet services works (telnet xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx), In addition, i tried with firewall enabled and disabled and the problem still happens. My centOS run on virtualbox.
I'm trying to get VNC working on Damn Small Linux. I installed the package, and I can get the viewer to work. However what I want to do is get the server working so that I can remote connect to users. When I do connect instead of the active session all I get is a grey screen with an xterm window. I've done a lot of searching for this, but cannot seem to find a good answer. What I'd like to do is connect to the native X session. I've tried changing things in the xstartup file to things such as "-display :0" but it still doesn't work.
1)We need to do a clean up a folder in a remote unix server . What is the best option to connect to remote server? how do we use ssh ? Is there any prerequisite to use ssh?
2) We have to SCP few files to another folder in a remote unix server . I formed the below command to use in script. Is it of correct usage? scp -r $POS_HOME/posctl [login nameip address:/home/username/directory]
I have seen public key/private key generation part for SCP. How do we handle this? Does this need to be done as unix admin?
I'm currently in the last steps of migrating a CentOS mailserver to the x64 version. However, under the old 32 bit version, I was using XRDP to access the Centos box from my Windows boxes. However I can't seem to find the XRDP package in the standard repos so this is prompting me to look at possible alternatives (XRDP was incompatible with my windows 7 box anyway soI had to RDP to another server of ours running 2003 to RDP into the mailserver which was far from ideal).Basically, I'd like to be able to seamlessly access the Centos box with a standard RDP client.
I know VNC Server/Clients would be an option but RDP gives me the freedom of any windows box being able to access the server on the same adress/port without installing software on any windows box I encounter. Are there any viable alternatives to XRDP ?There's no "add-on" to VNC server that could enable it to accept RDP connections ?

Unfortunately I only have a license for version 14 now and have no idea how to do this. how I can use Exceed to connect to my linux server?
I have an ubuntu fileserver and an ubuntu laptop both running 10.10.For some reason I can't connect to the server (file or remote terminal) from the laptop, even though I can access ssh through terminal on my mac and have been able to mount the filesystem on another computer running the ubuntu liveCD. I just get the error 'no route to host'.I've tried turning off the firewall on the laptop and re-installing ssh on both computers, but I don't have a clue what to do next!
Trying to get OpenbavoPOS to connect to my remote Postgresql database, but so far i've only been able to connect to the local postgres installation. I _am_ able to access the remote databases with psql. I've read literally dozens of pages, and am pulling my hair out. I'm trying jdbc:derby.//192.168.15.10:5432/bravo I get back java.sql.SQLException no suitable driver found for jdbc:derby.//192.168.15.10:5432/bravo If I use jdbc:derby./root/bravo - all is OK, using a local database created in /root I have jdk installed on the client; does it need to be on the server also?
