CentOS 5 Server :: Configure ISO's For PXE Booting - Pick An Iso From The List It Says "Could Not Find Ramdisk Image"?

May 3, 2011

I have a fresh install of COS5.6 installed a test laptop. I have following instructions to set up the PXE server based on the following: http:[url]......The base PXE installation seems to work fine (The menu labeled CentOS 5.6 works fine ). The whole purpose of this was to be able to boot iso's like Hirens and Imaging software ISO's.The issue is that whenever i try to pick an iso from the list it just says "Could not find ramdisk image:" [path to iso][path to iso] being either of the two iso i had set up to test this.

I would like to think that i made a typo but i can find one. The files i used are from the source of syslinux v4.0.4.The following information should be pertinent
Contents of /tftpboot/pxelinux.0/default[code].....

I have a limited experice with linux in an enterprise environment and looking for any direction as to what to do about this.

CentOS 5 :: PXE/NFS Install - Could Not Find Kernel Image?

Jul 1, 2010

In order to not post into the wrong forum, I am wondering if an issue related to performing a PXE based NFS install can be posted here, or does it belong in the networking forum? Seems that I've seen both, and I've done several searches using parameters/error messages that I'm seeing and can't seem to find a post that relates.

I have results of "./getinfo.sh network", and other necessary config file info ready to post, but want to make certain on correct forum.

Server :: Find A .ovm Format Image Of A Windows Server Installation?

Sep 16, 2010

I currently run Windows Server 2008 at my office, but I'm looking to test Samba as a PDC for future reference/consulting work. Before I go and try to configure Samba, I wanted to ask if anyone can think of pitfalls I would run into and perhaps recommend a better setup:
<10 PCs running either Windows XP, Vista, or 7.

VirtualBox running Debian (planning on swapping for Fedora) on a Windows XP Home computer.
Computers are connected to a large switch, which is connected to a wireless router. The Windows server doesn't employ ICS (essentially is just a $1500 PDC ). where I could find a .ovm format image of a windows server installation? I'm guessing vmware would work in this regard, but I'm not fond of using purposely crippled software.

Server :: Get Cron Job To Pick Up ~/.my.cnf ?

Sep 2, 2010

My question is how do I get a cron job to pick up the user's ~/.my.cnf? If the user runs the shell script, everything is fine. The cron entry has the same user run the job, and I've tried #!/bin/bash -l in the shell script with no success.

Here are the details:

I have a bash shell script that launches a Python program. The python program issues an external shell mysql -e command.

I don't want the python code to use use -u user-name -pMyPassword, db-name, because this is contained in ~/.my.cnf. The python code doesn't have to use these parameters if run interactively, but does have to if run from cron.

CentOS 5 Server :: Configure A Mail Server Over A Home Internet Connection?

My router automatically forwards a changed IP to my dyndns.com account so I can also access the server through a domain name (I pay to have it linked to one of my domains). My next step is to configure the mail server (dovecot) , so I can send emails from my local server(192.168.1.3).I was wondering if anyone has any tutorial links or tips to have the mail server configured through a home internet provider + home router.

CentOS 5 :: Create A Backup Image Of A 5.6 Server?

Dec 16, 2010

I have a CentOS 5.5 server that has just recently been updated to 5.6 running PostgreSQL 8.4 and Drupal for an internal website. The server is also acting as a shared network storage between the Linux server and Windows desktops with Samba.

I just recently purchased a license to run Symantec Backup Exec System Restore 2010 for Linux and the only operating systems that are supported are RedHat and Suse Linux.

Does anyone know of a nice open source solution that we can use to create backup images of the server?

In the event of a server crash, we want to be able to rebuild the server via a bit-by-bit backup image.

The CentOS 5.6 is 32bit
