CentOS 5 Networking :: Connecting 2 Or More Vpns From Different Isps?

May 26, 2010

it is possible to have the following network configuration: a central location called A with an ISP and two more locations (let's call them B and C) with diferent ISPs and to have a vpn connection between A and B and A and C? More exactly I have a central location with a CentOS 5.3 running as a gateway and I want to know if it's possible to have a computer from the location B and C connected to A through a VPN connection. I don't want computer from B to see the computer from C, is not necessary. What kind of equipment do I have to put in places? Routers? Managed switches? As a start I think that it have to work with a router in location B and one in location C and in location A I think that a managed switch that can manage vpns it will be ok.

Ubuntu Networking :: Manual Route For VPNs - Doesn't Work But Ping

Mar 24, 2010

I use my computer as a gateway to the internet for the rest of the house which is split into two LANs. I also have VPN's linking the office side of the LAN to a remote site. All of the PC's other than mine that should have access to the VPN works, but my PC doesnt and I firmly believe this is because I need to add a static route. ping 192.168.10.1 doesnt work but ping -I eth2 192.168.10.1 does. 192.168.10.1 is the remote router on the other side of the VPN. I've tried this route:

Code: route add -net 192.168.10.0 netmask 255.255.255.0 gw 192.168.1.1 dev eth2 192.168.1.1 is my computer... the gateway for the rest of the house/office. My computer has a quad NIC, only 3 ports are used. WAN, LAN1 and LAN2. Aside from this routing issue, I have everything working perfectly.

Networking :: ISPs Content Filter Making For Based Laptops And Workstations?

Feb 8, 2011

last friday my schools isp enabled iwsva - interscan web security virtual appliance from trendmicro. all traffic is now filtered, and slowed down. videos and other videostreams are now useless. after this we have had serious problems using our netbooks with ubuntu, and upgrading workstations with ubuntu has become very problematic, or almost impossible. i have to run the update process 6-8 times before all packages are updated.

what can i do to document the problem in a good way. the isp tells me that there are no problems, and that it has to be a linux problem. (ever heard that one before?) the ltsp-clients on my debian servers does not have the same problems, maybe because they are using the proxy on this server?

CentOS 5 Networking :: Not Connecting To Internet

Feb 27, 2010

I have a CentOS server that I can connect to over my local network. The computer I'm currently on is on that same network and can access the internet. My server can not connect to the internet. The network card is obviously connecting to the network since I can access the server locally with SSH or HTTP. While in the terminal for the server, I type wget google.com and the server can not find the specified host, so this leaves me to believe it can not access the internet.

CentOS 5 Networking :: Connecting Server 5.3 To DSL Router?

Sep 3, 2009

I want to use centos as a developer server on my desktop before deploying my stuff to the internet.

I have a netgear DG834G router. It's IP address on my local network is 192.168.0.1 and connected to the adsl line. The router is set up to act as an dhcp server too. On the router I have reserved ip address for the nics per their mac addresses.

My server is on a dual boot desktop. The other boot is XP and works fine, picks up dhcp.

I don't know how to connect Centos to the router.

I have tried to play with the network manager but to no avail.

I can ping localhost, interface eth0 is there, but i can't ping to the router.

I have set the manager system/administration/network to get dhcp automatically.

I can't activate the eth0 although the hardware device says it is OK.

I've looked at firewall and iptalbes.

CentOS 5 Networking :: Qlogic 4062 Card Connecting To MSA 2312i - 5.4

Oct 27, 2010

I am trying to setup a blade server that has a QLOGIC 4062 mezzanine card to handle the iscsi traffic coming from an HP MSA 2312i SAN. I cannot seem to figure out how to get the HBA to talk to the SAN. Just to ensure the SAN was setup OK, I used the onboard netextreme NIC w/iSCSI to connect to the SAN with iscsiadm. This all works no problem. BUT, I bought the mezzanine cards to take this load of my NICs.

I know that the OS sees the two ports on the mezzanine card as dmesg shows them. This is my first time configuring a separate HBA on a blade system, so I'm kinda lost what to do with them. I have entries in the modprobe.conf file for eth2 and eth3 aliased to qla4xxx. What I am not sure about is the config for each eth2/3 device. If I ifconfig my device to the specific ip and subnet/netmask my SAN is on, I can get any response from the SAN.

Also I would have expected iscsiadm -m iface to pick up on the qlogic devices, but they don't show up in the ifaces directory. I tried to manually create an iface file for each, and it seems to be ok with that, but when I try to discover targets, I get communication errors. (I am compiling a file with all the outputs from various commands and errors, and will put them here once I have them).

What I don't understand is the process of setting up an HBA. I am quite able to setup iscsi over the regular NICs, been doing that for a while, but these HBAs have me stumped.

I also installed the qlogic qla4xxx driver and SANSurfer, but SANsurfer didn't see the HBAs. I think this was due to the age of the sansurfer software...other people have reported this as well.

CentOS 5 Networking :: Boxes Appear To Be Limited At ~10kb/s When Connecting To Any FTP Server Outside Of Our Network

Jul 13, 2010

I'm having a bizarre problem with FTP transfers from my CentOS 5.3 boxes, All of my CentOS boxes appear to be limited at ~10kb/s when connecting to any FTP server outside of our network. We have no network infrastructure which would cause this, however when I use a windows based machine it is able to connect fine.

I took my laptop running Vista, and rebooted it onto a CentOS 5.3 LiveCD, and same issue.

I have checked our iptables, cleared the rules, removed the kernel modules, checked CBQ/TC it looks like nothing is limiting this. Also, other protocols work fine. Both the windows and linux boxes used passive transfers for it.

Is there anything other than iptables/CBQ which would be on a out of the box install of CentOS I should check? Is there any kernel settings for NAT connections which may cause this?

CentOS 5 Server :: Connecting To Vsftpd Using TLS?

Dec 20, 2009

I'm still learning my way around CentOS and linux in general... Using CentOS 5.4

BUT, I used the scripts from HowTo/Chroot Vsftpd and it did not work with the non-TLS script config, but the with TSL worked great. I wasn't sure where to put the vsftpd_virtualuser_config.tpl file but I copied it over when the script failed to find it... to where it was looking.

So I think it's working but my question is, TLS doesn't use port 21 but the script defaults to that port. I'm using FileZilla from an XP machine at work and I'm forwarding all the ports given in the HowTo. So I'm forcing the client to use TLS on port 21 but it hangs on the connection. If I use non TLS I get in but it tells me it requires TSL. I've had no luck with vsftpd in the past and this is my next attempt.

CentOS 5 :: FreeTDS Error Connecting To Remote SQL Server Db?

Nov 21, 2010

I am working on a project where I need to connect to a remote MS SQL Server database with PHP from a CentOS 5.5 server. I was able to get it installed and working on my Mac OS X 10.6 laptop with unixODBC and FreeTDS. However, I am unable to get it configured on my CentOS server. unixODBC and FreeTDS were installed, but when I try to connect, I get the following error message:

Connection Failed:[unixODBC][Driver Manager]Can't open lib '/usr/lib/libtdsodbc.so.0' : /usr/lib/libtdsodbc.so.0: wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS32

From what I could find by scouring the internets,it appears that I have 32 bit unixODBC (or FreeTDS, I'm not sure) installed (libtdsodbc.so.0 is symlinked to libtdsodbc.so.0.0.0) and it needs to be 64 bit. However, when I try to install the 64 bit version with

yum install freetds.x86_64

I get a message that it is already installed.Is there something else I need to do to get around this error? I'm a developer and not a server, so I'm not sure where else to go.

CentOS 5 Server :: Cannot Get Bind9 Internal View Served To Connecting Vpn Client.

Sep 25, 2010

I have a white slate centos 5.5 installation on a virtual box at Media Temple (one of their new VE servers). I am trying to create a development environment where I can have Bind9 serve up one set of zone files to me and other developers on the internal network and another set of zone files to external requests (ie... using the views feature). I would like to be able to develop for sites for which the dns is not yet pointed at my server. The network is created by having the VE server be an OpenVPN server, and connecting my client box to the server (my mac - 10.8.0.6 / my ve server 10.8.0.1).

I have the connections working fine, I have also been able to route all network traffic from my mac through the vpn to the server. For some reason, I cannot get the DNS server on the ve server to serve me an internal view zone file. When my vpn is on, I cannot ping or navigate to any web pages from my mac. I think this is because my ve server is not setup as a dhcp server and the ip tables are not setup to allow all internal requests to use the server to go get web pages.

I cannot view-ping anything else from my mac/client when on the vpn, I can successfully ping any website my ve is authoritative for. This tells me that my ping is obviously going over the vpn, and thus an internal request, but the external zone file is still served up. The following is my named config.

acl "lan_hosts" {
10.8.0.0/24;
127.0.0.1;
};

Fedora Networking :: Wired Networking Not Connecting In 12 With Windows Internet Connection Sharing?

Jan 16, 2011

I just want to use Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) to connect to the internet. I have done a massive amount of troubleshooting, but some of it seems to contradict itself, and the only two things that I know for sure are that it used to work, and that my Ethernet cable is not the problem. When I use Terminal utilities like ifup and dhclient it seems that it can not determine IP information, but when I try to put it in manually, the "Apply" button grays out right after I finish typing it in. When I try to connect normally, in KDE or GNOME, the icon acts like it's connecting, then instead of having the connected icon, I receive a notification that "the network has been disconnected", and it goes back to the disconnected icon.

Oh, and by the way, I know that I could probably find a workaround, but I have limited resources, and this used to work. The Linux is a Dell desktop with Fedora 12 and the Windows is a Windows 7 HP laptop.EDIT: I hope that I didn't mess something up, but I accidentally used system-network-config to try putting in the IP address there, and ended up changing it back to the original settings, but the computer is now calling it Auto Ethernet in the taskbar icon, although sudo iwconfig in the terminal still calls it eth0.

Networking :: VPN Is Not Connecting?

People from outside and inside the office can connect to the VPN server. I have also opened all ports on proxy server.

Problem is, if any of my employee try to connect any other VPN server outside my office, it does not get connected. It shows some "ERROR 619". Whenever I try to connect it always show this error after verifying username and password.
