I was looking for a way to get the same or similar functionality as the Nokia PC Suite on Ubuntu 10.04. I did find a discussion here [url].
However it is fairly old (2008). I was wondering if it is possible to get more recent information.
In the Ubuntu Software Center I find two applications that seem to fit the bill. I need to know which is better or are the complimentary.

I have configured my nokia 3230 as a modem on debian
Scanning your serial ports for a modem.
As u can see above my modem was gettin detected. but when i tried dialing it never got connected..
Iam sending the log file:
I am using a tata docomo connection.
I have been using GPRS on a Nokia 6230 on PCL 2009 for months, no problems. Got the C5212 2 days back. First, it would not connect using the old wvdial.conf file (the modem was detected on the same ttyacm1 port), throwing up an error I don't recall now. Then I did a wvdialconf, and edited the resulting file, and this time I got an error "Voice line detected".
The phone came with the windows software, so tried getting online on a Win install. The phone connected, but the procedure involved disconnecting the phone (as described by the software itself). Assuming this "disconnection" could be a reason for wvdial to fail, I tried again on Linux. This time I could get online, without a hitch.
Yesterday, I abruptly started facing a new problem "LCD Terminated by Peer". I had used the phone error free for more than 2 hours. Then I disconnected and plugged it again, and voila the error! I have looked at many sites and their solutions. None of them seem to change this situation. The most popular tip is to comment out all lcp related lines in the /ppp/options file. I am using wvdial and kpp, and my options file did not have those lines in the first place.
how to delete a file or folder via apt-get remove but my written any rates and stops also tried rm and the file name again failed some sort of ideas otherwise I'm with Nokia n900

I've tried using bluetooth and rfcomm to connect but the devices do not pair. Even l2ping isn't able to communicate with my phone.
When i use rfcomm with the connect command a dialog pops up on my phone requesting pin and i enter the one in my /etc/bluetooth/pin but then nothing happens and rfcomm exits saying connection refused.

I'm still learning my way around CentOS and linux in general... Using CentOS 5.4
BUT, I used the scripts from HowTo/Chroot Vsftpd and it did not work with the non-TLS script config, but the with TSL worked great. I wasn't sure where to put the vsftpd_virtualuser_config.tpl file but I copied it over when the script failed to find it... to where it was looking.
So I think it's working but my question is, TLS doesn't use port 21 but the script defaults to that port. I'm using FileZilla from an XP machine at work and I'm forwarding all the ports given in the HowTo. So I'm forcing the client to use TLS on port 21 but it hangs on the connection. If I use non TLS I get in but it tells me it requires TSL. I've had no luck with vsftpd in the past and this is my next attempt.

I have a CentOS server that I can connect to over my local network. The computer I'm currently on is on that same network and can access the internet. My server can not connect to the internet. The network card is obviously connecting to the network since I can access the server locally with SSH or HTTP. While in the terminal for the server, I type wget google.com and the server can not find the specified host, so this leaves me to believe it can not access the internet.

I am wanting to connect to the existing Linux fileshare from centos. The know the fileshare is NFS and I know the IP address and directory name. I attempted to connect using the 'mount' command as#mount -t nfs <server IP address>:/<directory> <local directory>An attempt was made to mount, however it is username/password protected. I have gone through the docco for 'mount' and cannot find anyway of passing <username><password> with 'mount'. Does anyone know how? Or am I using the wrong command?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI want to use centos as a developer server on my desktop before deploying my stuff to the internet.
I have a netgear DG834G router. It's IP address on my local network is 192.168.0.1 and connected to the adsl line. The router is set up to act as an dhcp server too. On the router I have reserved ip address for the nics per their mac addresses.
My server is on a dual boot desktop. The other boot is XP and works fine, picks up dhcp.
I don't know how to connect Centos to the router.
I have tried to play with the network manager but to no avail.
I can ping localhost, interface eth0 is there, but i can't ping to the router.
I have set the manager system/administration/network to get dhcp automatically.
I can't activate the eth0 although the hardware device says it is OK.
I've looked at firewall and iptalbes.
