I am new to this forum so please bear with me . I have installed Centos 5.2 on my laptop and have been trying to use Mplayer to play a DVD movie. I have all the relavent plugins and codecs installed but it keeps telling me "Failed to open dvd://1"I tried to use Totem but it says that i am missing some plugins and won't play anything for me. My Laptop is an Acer Travelmate 240, 40GB HDD, 1GB RAM, Processor is a Celeron 2.66GHZ

The only place where this does not happen is when I click on the "Computer" folder.Can someone please help me out with this problem? The only major thing referring to multimedia in the past few days I remember is installing 'h264enc' from Packman, however, meanwhile I uninstalled this package, yet the problem persists.

The only way of solving this was moving MPlayers config, but that did not help either.

I'm not sure if I'm posting in the right section. But when i start the Package Updater it get's a (Error resolving dependencies). The Details in the error are: Missing Dependency: liblzo.so.1 is needed by package mplayer Missing Dependency: libdvdread.so.3 is needed by package lsdvd Missing Dependency: libcucul.so.0 is needed by package mplayer Missing Dependency: libdvdread.so.3 is needed by package gstreamer-plugins-ugly

Ok For some reason I open my ports in security and firewall. I open ssh and other ports and port 7001 for example but when I go to check to see if they are open or try to connect to them. It shows that they are still closed. I am using - [URL] Also yes my ports are open on my router. I know my router works fine with opening ports because I have shoutcast setup on another computer with xp that is currently running. I am willing to pay for who can ever get this fixed for me...

I think my usage of mplayer in the terminal is correct, since I can watch other URL's.It's only this specific one that doesn't work (I am not authorized to write the URL because they want it to be private.So my question is: Does anyone know why I get this loop? Or is it possible to see how mplayer is called by gnome-mplayer and what output messages it generates?I use gnome-mplayer 0.9.9.2 and mplayer 1.0rc4-4.4.5 on Ubuntu 10.10.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have added CentOS5.5 x86-64 to a linux box that already contains installations of Ubuntu 9 and SL 5.2. Grub2 was installed with Ubuntu and is on the MBR of the disk. I did not install grub with anaconda/Cent. Grub update in ubuntu finds the Cent install and addes it to the grub.conf, and Cent appears in the grub menu at boot. If I select Cent, I get the following error.

Please append a correct "root=" boot option

I created a new virtual machine on my ESXi 4.1 host and had planned to install Centos 5.6 as the guest OS. The two ISOs required for the installation were stored on my local disk.

I had a fresh install of centos 5.4 x64 on my newly bought lenovo thinkstation D20, the installation went smoothly. after I finished adding users and reboot,I get pass the grub, starting the services, and then.. just blank screen, get nothing there and stuck, can't get into gnome, only option is to power off.the same happens if I install scientific linux, basically same with centos. I also can't boot the scientific linux live cd(the same thing happens, after starting the services, blank screen and stuck). however, I can boot Fedora live cd. but all I want is an EL5.
