I'm kind of hoping that many of the apps I am looking for live on this mirror. It was installed by default by CentOS 5.5 when I installed.
My repo file is included at the bottom. Checking the path http://mirror.centos.org/centos-5/5.5/ there is no media dir which would explain the 404 error I get when I try to enable the repository. The question is where does it live or is this repo defunct? code...
I've installed a standalone system (no internet connection), and now I would like to add more software from the 7CD I used for the clean installation. I've enabled the 'media-repo' and disabled any other, but when I go to the main menu '->remove/install software' the System shows the message 'Can't find repomd.xml file...' and stops.
What can I do to enable this method?
This is a clean OpenSUSE 11.4 installation (the installation went flawless) I got the error while adding an https repo from the build service (though I *think* I mistyped the URL - plus the build service URL should be http) After restarting yast, everything went fine
I bet there's a segfault happening when trying to parse a broken repo (ie: broken download or even just a 404).

Is it possible to add fedora installation media (DVD) as repo in Revisor?
I want to create my spin. and i don't want to revisor download packages from Internet.
My good working system stopped working. At reboot I get

After creating directory (DirName) in media/ directory, i wanted to remove it, so i used the rmdir command, "rmdir media/DirName". but now, i have mounting problem, i can't mount media disk, cd and dvd disk. how to recover settings and restore it?

View 10 Replies View RelatedI am creating custom install media using the Fedora Core 14 DVD as a base and I have gathered all of the packages and their dependencies I require using the yumdownloader command.I made sure to download the @core group along with the ones listed above. The problem I'm running into is that I don't know how to update the media's repo information to reflect some of the updated packages I have downloaded. So when I go to install on the device, it's saying it can't read/open a certain package and you can see that it's looking for an older version because I'm guessing its repo is telling anaconda that this is the specific version to look for. I'm looking for a way to "update" the repo found on the installation media.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a multisession DVD-R with an unreadable volume descriptor caused by a bad DVD burning using growisofs. The DVD is not physically damaged. I tried to recover the data reading directly from /dev/hdc but it throws an input/output error. I believe the error is caused by the broken volume descriptor. That's why I'd like to know a way to make a low-level DVD image that doesn't use the volume descriptor.
Once I have the image I'll manage to recover the data, but now i can't access anything at all. By the way, i've already tried all this programs and anyone worked:

Last night I made the mistake of formatting my media drive. Before the format, it was ext4. then I formatted it to ext4 again because I wasn't paying attention to what I was doing(this mistake only gets made once). Now im looking for away to recover any/all of my data. The drive in question is 1tb. I have not written any new files to this drive.

Comparing CentOS-Base.repo with the new one show the 1st has the correct priorities and .rpmnew does not have the correct priorities. Should I remove the *.rpmnew repo after making sure it otherwise is the same as the original CentOS-Base.repo?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am not able to easily tell what yum is doing when attempting to decide what to do when given repo files that have defined the same name (eg "[updates]"). Yum seems to spot the dups, but seems to *always* select the mirrorlist from the CentOS-Base.repo. I have unsuccessfully tried to have my custom.repo come before the CentOS-Base.repo using 01custom.repo or CUSTOM.repo. My hope is just to overload yum into using the custom.repo *without* removing/modifying the CentOS-Base.repo. If I remove the CentOS-Base.repo, the custom.repo works. Even with all of the custom.repo, 01custom.repo or CUSTOM.repo in the yum.repos.d dir and no CentOS-Base.repo, yum does what I want.

On the instructions page it said that rpm.hozac.com is "often unavailable" and gives an alternative location for the kernel download. But it doesn't say what to do about the GPG key! And I can't load the new kernel without the key.So, what do I do? (Apart from wait until the repository comes back online!)

I'm unsure as to why yum is looking in the "5" directory instead of "5.3" or "5.4" and it looks like that is the only issue. It seems as though $releasever is returning 5 instead of the current 5.3 that this system is on.

I've been having problems installing httpd (in that it cannot be found when I do a Yum search). I get this error when running yum:
Bad id for repo: CentOS5 base, byte = 7
Bad id for repo: CentOS5 updates, byte = 7

I have IDE Sony DVD RW AW-G170.
BIOS Setting:
Downloaded the CentOS-5.4-i386-bin-DVD image from centos.org from DVD.torrent using bittorrent file.
When booting from the DVD, it gives me the boot prompt:
Upon pressing enter, the log messages of the boot detect the media drive as: hdc: Sony DVD RW AW-G170 IDE ATAPI CD.
The below steps occur:
1) Select the keyboard type: selected us
2) Select the Language : selected us
3) Select the image:
- Local CDROM
- Hard Drive
- NFS Image
...
...
selected Local CDROM
Then the above error "CentOS CD Not found in any of the media drives. Please insert CentOS CD and press OK."
The booting steps does not ask the for media check step.
The below methods have been tried to solve the problem:
- Burnt the image in another 2 DVDs but the same error "CentOS CD Not found in any of the media drives. Please insert CentOS CD and press OK."
- Upon burning the DVD image , selected the DVD read speed: 8x. Upon burning the DVD selected 18x for burning. and then tried to boot with that DVD
- At the boot prompt entered : linux hdc=cdrom replaced hdc=hdb but the error remains.
I've been trying to install the Fuppes media server onto CentOS and have had a few difficulties. I had to do a build from the source (svn build 578), then configure, make and make install. So far so good.Once I try to run fuppes, I get the error:[ERROR] Failed to bind socket to : 8.15.7.107:0.The documentation I've searched so far suggests that there is a config file that needs to be set with the appropriate ip address, but the file doesn't exist as the program hasn't started up yet!
