I am new to linux and I am running Postfix as my Mail server. Comcast customers are not receiving mail that is sent from my server. I need to check the logs. I can't seem to find them. Can somebody point me in the right direction.

The service will be used for multiple domains. Can Postfix service multiple domains? If so, how can it be done?How does one create a user account? I have read the user account is a UNIX user account. My UNIX user name is "n", so would that mean my e-mail would be "n@test.com"?Is it true mail will be stored in /var/mail by default?I read on Wikipedia that Postfix does not support IMAP, so how does one access mail remotely, or even locally?

I have to administer a few mail servers, a mail log server, 4 nameservers and a web server -all running on Centos 5 server distributions. Now I have a task: to avoid accidental crashes on the production servers while installing updates, my boss asked me to do clones (these clones will all be VMware virtual machines) of the servers (EXCLUDING the actual e-mails and mail log contents) and then to run those clones on VMWare Server. This way, first I will install and test updates on the clones and - if they will be running without crashes - I will apply the updates on the real production servers themselves. I have already installed VMWare Server 2.0 I have a few questions:
- How do I build the virtual machines to exclude the actual mail files and mail logs? Can I use VMware Converter for this purpose, or do I have to use another program?
- How do I actually do this cloning? Is there a tutorial on how to do this?
I'm using the default email that comes with Ubuntu.What I had:
- 10.10 installed onto a terabyte hard drive with email organized into individual folders under the main folder
What I did:
- bought a new terabyte hard drive and installed 11.04 on it
- set up old terabyte drive as backup drive but kept everything on it
So how do I dig into the old drive to get the email off of it and into my 11.04 install? I didn't overwrite any files, I need to get the mail off before I can do that.
I've just moved to Ubuntu and using Linux on the desktop in general. I use RHEL on a daily basis for work so don't really have much experience with window managers etc but like to understand how I'm doing what I'm doing. In that regard, I've configured a couple of scripts to be run when I login using 'System -> Preferences -> Startup Applications' but what I want to know is where do these settings actually get stored within the file system?

I know I can go to Startup Applications and add a launcher, but I don't want to have to login as every user and do that. Is there a file I can edit from the command line with elevated privledges? Something I could script, like appending to an XML file or something?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have installed ubuntu 10.04 using wubi installer..I am dual booting ubuntu with windows 7.I have alloted 8 gb of disk space while installing ubuntu.My first question is how can i know where the installed applications are stored and how much memory they occupy and how much free space is available out of the alloted 8gb.?My second one is now i have to install RAD 7.5 which requires 3.5 gb of free space..How can i expand the disk space without the need of reinstalling ubuntu.

All my e-mails have been downloaded and it's working good.But then I logged in at mail.live.com and I all my mails were gone!I don't want my mails to store in my PC, no one knows when my hard drive will die or when will I do something stupid that leads to the complete anihilation of all my e-mails. I want them back to Windows Live's mail server.

Problem:
Clicking "Read Mail" does nothing, whereas clicking "Compose Message" opens Thunderbird as expected. Thunderbird is properly configured under "System Settings > Default Apps > Email Client".
Whereas, switching the default email client back to Kmail results in the Get Mail "read mail" and "compose message" functions properly opening Kmail in both instances.
This problem occurred for me before (when using openSUSE v11.1 and earlier versions of the apps), but I don't recall how I eventually solved it, or whether it was resolved via an update of one of the above apps/extensions. Nonetheless, I'm now confronted by the very same problem again.
I have machine that I used to VNC to on my network with Remote Desktop Viewer from my Fedora 12. When I first connected I checked the checkbox that I wanted to store the pw. Now the pw on the other machine has changed but Remote Desktop Viewer does not ask for a new password, it just gives me a black screen, like I am connected but I can't see anything. I'd like to know if anyone knows where this pw data is stored on the system so I can start fresh. I already tried uninstalling Remote Desktop Viewer and installing it again.

I use filters for the incoming messages, based on the subject. I wanted to know if I could give several keywords at once just by filling one field. I want the filter to place the message in a folder if just one keyword fits. How could I fill the field <subject> <contains> and separate my different keywords, saying that it's not an "and" but an "or".. I tried like that:
<subject> <contains> : x | y | w | z
<subject> <contains> : x ; y ; w ; z
<subject> <contains> : x , y , w , z
but none of these worked. Is there a way or should I create several and same conditions for each different word?
I'm using ubuntu 9.10. I would like to test email applications on my desktop machine.
A couple of examples: I would like to test php email forms that I'm developing on the webserver that I have installed on my local machine.
Also, I'd like to test the email subsystems of web applications that I install on my desktop.
For example, I'm testing sugarcrm on my desktop server. Sugar can send emails.
What things to I have to consider here in order to send emails from my local machine ?
When I try to login as me - it gets pretty far but then something happens and automatically logs out. This happens in Gnome, Kde too. Now - I have no problem logging in a Root. Is there a way I can try to stop the login process before it kicks me out, or is there a way to look at some files to tell me what's going on?

I haven't used Ubuntu for a while, and just reinstalled it. I have one major dislike about the new version, There are several applications I click on and it takes me to the installer.How do I remove those types of applications or just install them all?

I know it seems silly, but I can't find the way to handle this inconvenience. Is there a place (like Start> All programs in Windows), were I could find and run all the programs I install?

I just added my login id to /etc/aliases to forward root's local e-mail to my local e-mail account in evolution.

I am facing a issue that when I mail with the user sumit@linuxforfreshers.info then I am able to do it. But if somebody tries to send mail to the same user then it bounce backs. I had made the entry of domain in /etc/mail/local-host-name and also I put ok in /etc/mail/access.The mails are working properly with in LAN. Mail appear in the Sent folder of Squirrelmail However, the INBOX was still showing no messages when i logged in to the server, i see that mail was delivered in var/mail/info (my username). so, my question is: why mail gets delivered to var/mail and var/spool and squirrelmail is not pickiing it up?
