Software :: Synaptic: 10.0.32.18-1(now) For AdobeFlash Plugin But Firefox 3.6.12 Doesn't Work
Dec 9, 2010On Ubuntu 10.04, Synaptic indicates that current version {10.0.32.18-1(now) for AdobeFlash plugin} is latest but websites appear to indicate that latest version is 10.0.45-1. Synaptic Upgrade button is grayed and I am stuck! All came about by accessing following site: [URL]... Had to revert to Firefox on XP (!) to see diagram. Is there a more current (latest) version for Firefox under Ubuntu 10.04 and if so, how do I go about installing it? I tried to download and got a "Status: Error: Conflicts with installed package 'flashplugin installer'" when I clicked on the .deb file.

Feb 24, 2011Is it possible to send a libnotify from a cronjob? I'd like a notify message when my daily backup is done. When I run my script from terminal everything is working fine, when (ana)cron runs it, it works as well but the notify is surpressed. My Guess was, that it happens because the jobs are run as root. Nevertheless is it possible to get a notification message?

Apr 10, 2010I have mail-notification installed (using Lucid beta) but for some reason it doesn't send notifications using libnotify, but instead shows a standard gtk pop-up. I have the evolution plugin for mail-notification installed, and in fact the issue is not related to evolution, since I tried setting up mail-notification directly for an IMAP account and got the same ugly pop-up.

Without any info being offered in the player, I looked on line. Many people had problems with other plugins, and most of the time it was a problem with an uninstalled python package. Software :: Cannot Uninstall Flash-plugin From Yast - Deleted Flash-Plugin Directory
Aug 15, 2010In my frustration to get adobe flash working in firefox I deleted the /usr/lib/flash-plugin folder. Now when I try to uninstall "Flash-Plugin" from YAST it fails as it can't find the sub-folder. I also cannot install the latest version of flash player as it says that it is already installed - So I am stuck in a loop.
I am running SUSE 11.2.
Is there a config file of installed programs that I can modify to remove the "Flash-Plugin" entry, or is there another way to get over this problem.

Jan 23, 2010Ubuntu 9.10. System has been running fine for months. Today, tried to run Synaptic and get the following error: 'Failed to run /usr/bin/synaptic as root - unable to copy the user's Xauthorization file' Where invoking synaptic used to ask me for my password, it now gives the above error message. What I did today was change grub so that I boot to the command line instead of the gui. That worked fine and I can invoke the gui with startx as a normal user. sudo apt-get works OK from the command line.

Mar 22, 2010Anyone know what it's listed under?9.10 Karmic Koala..I'm customising all my preferred aps and use the amazing VLC for videos, I don't want 'Movie Player' there, but I can't find it in Synaptic to delete it and want it gone, not just the shortcut deleted.
Whilst discussing preferred aps, I can also highly recommend ditching Firefox and Evolution for Opera; more features, faster browsing, handles plugin videos better (no greying out), has a built in mail client so everything's in one place, etc. Tried just about every other browser, always go back to Opera.

Apr 4, 2010Is it possible to install a local .deb package with synaptic package manager? I managed to trash network-manager-gnome removing it by mistake instead of a package with a similar name..... oops. So now have no network connections. I downloaded the following file network-manager-gnome_0.8~a~git.20091014t134532.4033e62-0ubuntu1_i386.deb via a computer with a net connection. and now have it on a usb key. Can I point the synaptic package manager to the local package and install like that, or do I have to do it via the console. I also have my original Karmic 9.10 disk, which I imagine has the package on as well. Is there a way to add it via the system installer?
